NSU Master of Biomedical Science 2019

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I wonder how long their semesters are and what classes MBS students take during the Fall and Spring semester? I heard some programs like NYMC end their semester in November and post grades just in time for students to still apply to medical/dental school concurrently.

That’s a good question. I am not sure , I will ask that tomorrow.

They take the same class as first-year medical students. The MBS program is located in Hollywood. I think you can apply to schools while in the program as long as you maintain a certain GPA. Also is 36 credits overall

That's good to know. I'm curious, where did you acquire this information? I tried looking online but couldn't find anything. Also, the credit requirement to graduate from the MBS program is 34 credits. Did they change that?

I spoke to the person in charge of the MBS program

I sent an email Yesterday and today the response I got was that " the second batch was already sent out"

I’m kinda shocked that the second batch was out already, you would think at least one person here would have gotten an invite.

My thoughts exactly! I wonder if they are going to have more batches since it was mentioned that they received more applicants this year?

On another note, just applied to Barry lol. I really want to stay in Florida. If nothing works out, TouroCOM here I come!

See you at Barry lmao! are you med or dental?

Does anyone know if there will be a third batch sent out?

What I heard is that they added two more days for interviews meaning that they sent out the interviews already. Also, they told the interviewees that they will have a decision made by the end of this month so it makes sense that they are done.

Well that’s a bummer

Med track, but I'm sure we might have some classes together that's if I get accepted. I pray this school takes pity on me! Lol

Yes, Gross Anatomy, lab, health and ethics and I don’t remember what else. Feel free to send me a PM should you have ay questions.

And no one has received a rejection letter? I called on Friday and was told my application is still “under review.” Maybe that was a nice way of saying your letter is in the mail.....

They have not sent them yet. Normally after acceptance.

If anyone is interviewing on May 2nd holla at me please. Your girl is very nervous and friends for the day of would be nice 🙂

I believe I saw for last year: ~600 applied, 80 interviewed, ~40 accepted. ~10/40 were dental track. Rest were med.

What’s the actual building that the interview is conducted in? The website only says to go to the Health Professions Division campus. It makes no note of what building to go to.

Yup I just paid my deposit at Barry

I just accepted a seat at touro for their master’s program. I wish they would’ve at least acknowledged that we were rejected

Yes, that was very bothersome. They didn’t even acknowledge or care about the rest of the applicant’s time and thats messed up

Same I am now arranging things for a different program I was accepted into, but it really would have been nice to get somethinggg back. Imagine we didnt have SDN, we would be in limbo.

It’s the same thing with Drexel DPMS. They also prefer the silence method when it comes to rejection. It’s annoying. If we are paying money to apply to your program, the least you could do is communicate with us.

Have any premed Floridans here heard of Larkin University's Masters of Biomedical Sciences program?

I think I've heard of their pharmacy program but remember not finding much info on them. Would like to hear more about them if anyone knows about the program as well

According to their website, their MBS program is not fully accredited.

You sure you aren't referring to their COP program - they are candidate status as of 2017. But in regards to their graduate studies, they offer MS and PhD degrees, which are accredited by Accreditation Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). Regional accreditation requires a longer life cycle to apply; then they should be applying through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). But I could be wrong.

I do know that Larkin does not offer Title IV (federal) funding, but they do offer private funding through Sallie Mae, iHelp, etc. Does this mean they are not fully accredited yet?
Also, word has it, Larkin University is opening "health sciences" campus in Naranja, FL (super south, south of Kendall) offering a DO program, and much more: nursing, pharm, dental and even a charter school for grade students interested in health sciences.

Did anyone got news from MBS nova recently?

The committee meets this week to make decisions, so acceptances should go out later this week or early next week. Last year, we got acceptances on a Friday. Good luck to everyone! I know the waiting sucks.
