Yeah, just like underwear filled with glue!
First fact about you that I DIDN'T want to knowyou do that too?! I also need that added support.
E -Congrats Latina!
So what's everybody doing about housing in this town. Are you all done with that portion of the preparations or what? I am looking for an apartment close to campus due to the horrendous traffic. I've tried roomates but noone seeems to want to room with me because I am moving my wife/2 kids down in Jan. 08 and I guess they don't want to have to locate another roomate mid-year.
If you all don't mind please post your plans for housing for the rest of us to see. By the way I am listed on roomate finder, facebook, listerserve, you name it!
LatinaDr1984,
When did you interview? Just curious.
Congratulations on your acceptance.
has anyone who interviewed at NSU mid-march heard about their status yet? i haven't heard anything since then, so i was just wondering if they have made decisions yet. Thanks!
Hey Latina,
I realize you are female and all but what did you guys end up doing for housing? If you don't mind.
Check out Royal Grand. They are relatively few available for rent and most of them are open investors aka, buy them. They have 2/2 and 3/2 condos and the outside is pretty magnificent. It's about 10 minutes walking from school. Google it, if you can't find it, I'll hook you up with the website.Hi Everyone,
I will be attending NOVA Optometry in Fall 2007 and I was wondering if ANY of you have had luck in buying an apartment in the Davie area or around NOVA. If so, PLEASE PM me - I am desperately looking to buy a "newer" place -- one that has hopefully been built in the last 10 years. If you have any info about apartment complexes with preferably a 1/1 but a 2/2 will do as well that will be great - I'll take any advice I can get!
Thanks!
Awesome! CongratsCongrats to all the new acceptees, I can't wait to meet everyone this fall!
Big day for me and Nova stuff, I finally received my Acceptance packet (mailed March 29th, thanks USPS) and found out that my wife and I got our apartment, we are moving in June 23rd to Harbor Town at Jacaranda. They still have another 2/2 single level floor plan for 1329/month if anyone else needs a bigger place.
I wouldn't recommend getting a place for under a grand because they're less than desireable. You'll have to venture away past the highways to get that pricing.anyone find a 1/1 for under a grand? don't care how far from nova it is

Great idea. Let me know how that turns out. Here in Ohio, they are available for around $450. I think I'm gonna commute!
Sorry to hear about that Lisa. I'm sure it's a bit disheartening. However, you've been admitted to a great medical school. Be proud of that!So today I received 2 letters from Nova, both postmarked the same day. One is a weird thing where you have to pull off the stubs, like a paycheck and it says "CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION". It is talking about what WebSTAR is and about creating my email account, etc....then at the bottom it says "This notice does not imply admittance to NSU".
Then my other letter from them is all about Financial Aid saying I still have to complete more paperwork.
Isn't this weird considering I never got an interview from then...? And I am still so bitter about what happened between us in the past months
A few things about Cameron Cove for those looking:Cameron Cove has 1b/1bth for $975.00 and its walking distance to school. They have online applications www.cameroncove.com I think is the link.
A few things about Cameron Cove for those looking:
--AC is included, so this will save you a bit of money.
--These are stripped down apts, small bathroom, VERY small kitchen, everything else is okay.
--There are NO washer dryers in unit, and NO hookups.
--No dishwasher.
--Very small stove and oven (I don't think it has 4 burners even.
Again to anyone I haven't told this to: It may be worth it to get in touch with a realtor--they deal with renting out of condos, and often times you can get MUCH better prices on condos than apts (i.e. I am living beachside in a bigger apartment with a 15 floor view of intercoastal in a condo for what I'm paying near school now). If I had to move down here all over again...I would start off with an agent right away. Also, when dealing with individuals rather than companies--you can ALWAYS bargain on price (they know future doctors are good renters, vs the low income family that may be looking @ the same place).
Also, Craigslist is a great resource...just watch the locations--don't venture too far out (living NORTH is bad for driving in the AM and PM both). Once again, most of the advertisements on there are realtors anyhow...
Finally, call around--talk to places, and see what kinds of discounts that they offer. Some of the places (I know both places I have lived in the last 2 yrs) offer discounts for NSU students.
GL..
I was told by Rachel about a month ago that I was on the waitlist, that I was basically "accepted but there was currently no room", I even asked her if that was the same thing as the alternate list she said no. Yesterday I get a letter informing me that I was an "alternate" candidate. ?????????
Have any of those that were told they were on the waitlist received this letter from NSU?
There are rental location agencies that do not charge you a thing. However, sometimes they get paid by certain complexes to show them. I found a great townhouse once by using a free service like that. I wish I could remember the name, but I am sure you could search them in the local yellow pages.

You could also try Janet Sivert, [email protected]. She is the realtor that works with NSU. Her fee is paid by the apartment or condo. There are rental location agencies that do not charge you a thing. However, sometimes they get paid by certain complexes to show them. I didn't find your post shallow, but many of us are still shocked and emotionally tied to the incident. I do see your point and I'm glad to seeing a DO doing his part to aid those in need. Feel free to post it in a discussion group on Facebook if you want.Actually, I created this thread to talk with other NSUCOM class of 2011 students about no specific topic in general. I planned for it mostly to be a means of communication amongst incoming NSUCOM students if you must know. I spend more time here than I do facebook, listserve, myspace, etc...

They're still pulling people off the list. Best of luck. Did you write an update/LOI letter? Thanks for all this info everyone! I'm worried after reading all you've said about the 2 lists, because I never knew of such a thing. After getting my letter from Nova, I called and was told everyone gets pulled off one list which is not ranked. So this is news to me...and bad news at that because I'm an alternate with no other acceptances! yikes!! :/
Hmm...okay. It may have been better to have done so earlier. Much luck.wow! thanks for quick reply no, actually i didn't. i had asked (when i called) if i can send any updates to help my file and they said no...
