I work in a practice with 7 doctors. I am in the process of getting my LORs together. I mentioned to one of the doctors that I wasn't sure who to ask for a letter since I have worked almost equally with all of them. She then offered to write one herself! Then proceeded to tell me to ask the owner for another one since the owner's name is well known at my university. Of course I jumped at her offer because, hey, she offered! 🙂
BUT, in hindsight, I wonder if I did the right thing. I am interested in Food Animal and she is a small animal surgeon (the owner is strictly small animal too). She knows me just as well as the other doctors however and I know she would speak highly of me in a letter and on the phone. I also think she would get feedback from the other doctors before finishing off her letter. The other LA doc that I spend the most time with was out of town when this happened, so I haven't had a chance to talk to her yet.
Do, I take the letters and be grateful? Do I ask for three letters from ONE clinic or is that weird? (I also have three professor letters because I have a lot of research and employment under them).
What do you guys think?
