do you know what the last interview date was for people in this batch? mid-february?
Lola, when did you interview? Did you get the financial aid email? Did everyone get the email? Perhaps it was only given out to people who had their files complete?
I dunno. Just a thought.
i interviewed very recently so am 99% sure i'm not in the batch to be reviewed. however, they gave us basically no insight into the admissions process (other than the few questions i got to ask the asst dean during my 15 minute interview). i did not get the financial aid e-mail.
Perhaps that means your file wasn't complete in time. I interviewed feb 12th and got the finanical aid email. I'm guessing whenever you get the financial aid email is likely the approx time your file is either completed or possibly reviewed and given a score.
Just a guess tho. I don't know that for sure. 🙂

I think the fin. aid emails all went out within a day of eachother sometime around mid february. Certainly thats when I received mine and I interviewed back in november or december (can't remember the exact date anymore!) - anyway, I don't think it took that long to 'complete' my app. I suspect the only people who didn't receive it were the ones who hadn't yet interviewed.
bump
so does that mean that our student interviewers will know today? because then they can email us. otherwise, it's another 2-5 days with the snail-mail.
Someone said the students get the decision via mail, too, so we might get the decisions around the same time they do, depending on campus mail speed and how often they check their boxes.
I'm trying not to think about it, but I just can't stay away from this thread ...

i don't mind waiting if i know *when* the news will come - but with this we don't know if we got in, we don't know if the student has picked up their mail, we don't know if the student would get around to emailing us anyway, and in the meantime it's check email check email check email....blah

Hey guys -
Don't freak out if you haven't gotten an email yet. They just put the letters in our boxes this morning, and the MSI's have an exam on Wednesday, and the MSII's had one this morning - some people just haven't checked their mail yet, or haven't gotten around to emailing. Not getting an email today doesn't mean you weren't accepted.

My student interviewer sent me the email, they normally give you their emails at the end of the interviews, u can email them and ask em if they checked their mailbox.. wont hurt,
well you could...but then what if you *didn't* get in. I would rather not put the poor student interviewer in an awkward position...so I'll just wait and see - either they e-mail me or they don't, but one way or another I will find out sometime...
i am a first year, and while i immediately emailed my applicants that got in, not all of my peers were aware that they should do the same (they were never interviewed when they applied). we all just got out of class now and about 1/3 of the mailboxes were still unchecked. until now, we have been very busy today, so expect the majority of emails to go out tonight.
-also, i would email your interviewer if you're dying to know. i wouldn't mind at all, even if the student didn't get in; and im sure none of my classmates would mind either- remember, we were in your shoes less than 1 year ago, and we truly sympathize.
last note- a big chunk of our class is from the waitlist, so dont feel too bad if that's the outcome.
to those that got in. sincere congratulations. this is a fantastic school_ very very laid back, fun, chill place to study medicine. if you guys have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
fyi- it's really interesting who got in and who didn't. out of my cursory observations, i noticed that only those with very favorable student reviews_ not merely lukewarm_ got in (but of course not everyone with a very favorable review got in_ i heard of a few 10s get snubbed). my point is that the student interviews seem to have counted a whole lot more than we thought they would.

thanks for the update, it's giving me some hope
Thanks for the feedback, choker and auster.

hmm, so you're saying if we don't get in we should blame our student interviewer? 😉 ...just kidding of course. I actually really liked my student interviewer, even though I think there were a couple of rough spots to the interview...
oh well, i guess we'll wait and see...
Just to echo Choker, most of us haven't sent out e-mails yet, and some might never.
Neither of my interviewers sent me anything last year. I found out by snail-mail two very distressed days later.
Choker also speaks wisely about the wait-list - it will exist and it will have some movement. So keep hope alive.
Finally, (I can't believe I'm agreeing with Choker so much) this is a great place to be a med student and congrats to those who got in today or who will over then next few months.
See you next year!

All I can say is that I really enjoyed my time at Pitt-- both during and after the interview. The M1 class is cool. I loved chilling with you all! Be nice to me if I come (read: "if I get accepted")! Ha. Ha. Ha.
Good luck to all M-zeros waiting for that e-mail or snail mail!

I received a congratulations e-mail from my faculty interviewer today. No congrats for me though, I was rejected by the MD/PhD program there long ago and I am definately doing MD/PhD, so I'll be withdrawing. They automatically consider you MD-only if you are waitlisted or rejected by the MD/PhD program.
Good luck to everyone else waiting!

I must admit I do not remember her last name! She was african-american, very sweet, interested in pediatric medicine.....Thanks for the help choker!
Congrats to all you new pittmed acceptees. You've worked hard and hopefully your efforts have paid off. All the first years here that interviewed prospectives learned which of their interviewees were accepted today. I hope there are many a happy email in your boxes. Three out of five of mine were accepted. (not too bad 😉 ) I remember the tension of waiting last year. It was a killer. Best of luck everyone and I will see some of you at second look!
So, I'm assuming that if we did not receive some sort of e-mail today that there is a good chance we were rejected/waitlisted? Is it recommended to student interviewers that they e-mail acceptees, or is it just kind of a tradition? Just curious, I have not heard of interviewers sending congrats e-mails at any of the other schools that I interviewed at. Well, Congrats to those of you who found out you were accepted today, and good luck to those of you still waiting.

Guys---got the email this morning, so don't worry about not being emailed last night.
Don't worry if you didn't get an email. I didn't get any emails, but I got my letter in the mail today (big envelope). I live in pittsburgh. Good luck to all.
Congrats everyone who got in!
So, I assume that acceptance letters have made their way through snailmail only in the Pittsburgh area. Has anyone received an acceptance via snail mail anywhere else yet?
(this post was just a disguised bump...)

No mail in Durham. (And none from Duke, either ...)
No letter from Pittsburgh in my mail here in Philadelphia today.
