argonana, that's awesome!! congrats :)
Did they call you or send it via snail mail, and did they supplement it w/ an email acceptance? Also, what's the time-frame within which you need to respond to their offer? I've been out of the country since the beginning of December, and won't get back until the 29th. I wonder if I should just wait till I get back, or if that'll be too late....this is all assuming I get an acceptance :p

thanks! this is an awesome christmas present...and it arrived just in time (i left town for two weeks yesterday afternoon).

sooo here's the deal:
-i only received a letter in the mail, and it was dated 12/16.
-they only give you two weeks (from the date of the letter) to respond to their offer with a "statement of intent" (no deposit). so the 29th would be cutting it real close...could someone check your mail for you? or maybe the emory office is open next week, and you could try calling? i was planning to call if i didn't hear anything by today.

hope you're enjoying your trip! :)

I had my only bad interview at Emory and I got a very weird vibe from the place...but it is a great school...so don't worry too much about me I don't think I'd go there...good luck to everybody though

How did you guys receive interview invites? Last time I called one of my LOR was missing (probably still in their pile of unsorted mail)... After my app is complete how long should I wait to hear back from them? I'm jealous!!!

I got the invite via email. Apparently it can come at any time- they don't reject anyone till March.

I'm still waiting to hear from Emory at all. I've been complete for over three months now - my rejection is WAY overdue.

Then again, my app might be getting cycled to the bottom of the interview pile repeatedly.

At least you got into WF, LabMonster. I haven't heard back from Emory yet and I'm interviewing at WF in February. Got any tips? ;0

I interviewed 12/2 and got my letter on 12/22 I think. Very exciting. It has a whole packet of stuff for what happens next and you do only have 2 weeks to hold your spot.

I interviewed in early October. Yet to hear anything from them. For that matter yet to hear anything from a school I interviewed at in September. I am a little more average, as can be ascertained form MDapplicants profiles than most on this thread. (How many 36's and 3.9's can there be?) Hopefully, they will make it down to my numbers soon enough. Perhaps when I get back from break I will have a surprise in my box. Probably not though.

nice timing. congrats!

i loved emory when i visited...dr. schwartz and erica black were definitely awesome, and i just got a good vibe from the students and the overall atmosphere...people seemed to be genuinely happy. i go to some schools and really feel like everyone's putting on an act for us, but it just wasn't the case at emory.
PLUS their gym is the most incredible thing i've ever seen. awesome.

congrats to everyone who's heard back!

For those accepted to both (assuming everyone accepted to Emory will be accepted by MCG) is it an easy decision for you or are you looking at the in-state tuition of MCG? I'm not really sure what to do if those are my final two choices.

Congrats to everyone who's been accepted! (And to those who are still waiting, keep on truckin'--hopefully good news will come your way soon.)

I was wondering if anyone has any idea how much longer they'll be sending out interview invites? My application was completed (really) late, unfortunately, and though I thought my numbers were ok, I feel like we're slowly nearing the end of the interview season. In particular, I'm overseas right now and trying to schedule as few trips back to the US as I can for interviewing (I'm returning mid-January, but I don't think I'm going to get an invite for a date that soon) , and I'm wondering whether or not my shot at Emory came and went (I'm hoping for the former--the more I learn of the place, the more I'd love to go, but I'm sure that's the case for many, many applicants...)

I'm a current student at Emory med. It's definitely a great place to be.

I thought long and hard about MCG vs. Emory -- not because of the schools but because of the finances. I loved Emory far more than MCG, and I knew that Emory would be a better place for me (in terms of the 'vibes' I got from the place). But it is an expensive school. While finances are an issue, I'm glad I made my decision to come to Emory.
Truthfully, Emory does take care of you. They have many need based scholarships to help out.
More than anything, realize that you will be spending 4 years at this med school (be it Emory or MCG or any other). You want to be happy. Med school is a long, and it's hard. If you're spending less but not happy for 4 years, you can truly have a hellish time. Pick the place that you felt 'better' at or that you know is right for you.

Again, I am SO happy that I chose to come to Emory. The students, the administration, everyone are incredible.

I got torn a new one in the 3 on 3 interview...can't wait to be waitlisted!

Oh btw, do they put everyone not accepted on the waitlist...or do I have a solid chance at outright rejection?

I don't think they're coming yet. The sheet says mail-outs tomorrow. Anxiety will increase throughout the week.

This week you'll either get an acceptance or not hear anything from them at all.

If I remember correctly, they pick people for the waitlist sometime after the March acceptances go out, and at that time they'll notify people who are rejected.

The last day of interviews is a week from today - Monday 2/28. They only interview on Mondays and Fridays. I got the interview invitation on 2/8 for a 2/24 interview, so I'm guessing they're done sending invites by now.
Thanks for the info.
I guess Ill go somewhere else...if I get in anywhere.
Good Luck

yeah, unfortunately (for me), i only just realized this at about 7:00 pm. just when i was thinking about leaving a nice stink bomb in the mailbox (i suppose at some point, my anxiety and frustration have been redirected towards the mailman....much more gratifying to "hate" on a person than a seemingly non-existent adcom)

Interviewed 12/5, got a letter of acceptance dated 12/16. Which was awesome but I was having my mail forwarded during X-mas and didn't recieved it until like the 28th. Made me very nervous. I made a new thread about this, but anyone hear about the Woodruff fellowship? I have a buddy accepted to Emory Law who just got a call to come interview for it and I was wondering if med is on the same timeline. Congrats to all, Emory is an awesome school. Anybody else intimidated by grady?

Emory Woodruff fellowship interviews will be in March. I think they send out acceptances first, then send out invties for the fellowship. They pick 13 lucky people for the interview and narrow it down to final 5.

There's a VERY HIGH chance that I won't be one of those 13 invited. ;( Actually I should be praying for an acceptance at the moment, I could care less about the fellowship ugh.

If they mailed it yesterday... it should reach mailboxes by Friday or Monday if you live in Cali or something. Good luck!
