Clinical Psych PsyD, e-mail invite, interviews 2/15, 2/22

Sorry for the late update today everyone!!! Got swamped unexpectedly 🙁 Anyway, everything is now up to date as far as I am aware.

To Loyola (MD) applicants - even though rejection letters have apparently already been sent out, nobody has reported getting an invite yet so hold tight!!! 🙂 Gotta figure that with the number of applicants there that are also on SDN, somebody has to be getting an invite 😛

On a side note to the rejection letters (and letters from them period), mine was postmarked for the 29th and I got it on the 30th due to being less than 30 miles away. Other, not-so-close people, should be getting them today (hopefully, some interviews in them).

Whatever letter I'm getting probably won't get here til Saturday, maybe even Monday (I'm way out on the west coast) 😳. I wish they would update the "check your status online" thing if they have actually sent a letter to everybody - they already know if I'm rejected or getting an interview! Grrrr :scared:

There are 3 different tracks in the SDSU/UCSD program, so I would NOT freak out unless you fail to get a call by Monday evening - 1 track may be faster at calling than others. Seriously guys, this is a HUGE program and they are super disorganized, so don't worry too much about it. Especially if you have other interviews this weekend and in the coming week(s) ... there are other things to worry about. If you don't get in, hey there are other choices ... right???

As for the application is complete email, definitely follow up with admissions first thing tomorrow. Email Sandy, call Sandy, do whatever you can! My transcripts aren't listed on the Webportal but I did get TWO emails from Sandy stating my application was complete and like I said, I had faxed her my transcripts last week when she said she didn't know if they had them or not.

I would be mad about this disorganization too but my coworker already warned me about how horrible they are so it was expected.

Okay, now I'm officially worried...due to all this talk about transcript issues at SDSU, I checked my status on the web portal and it too says they don't have my transcripts...this is so ridiculous/stressful! I ordered my transcripts sometime in October so I know I sent them out. I'm pretty sure I sent a photocopy of the official with my package as well. I just sent Sandy an email and I guess I'll try calling her in a bit (I'm 3 hours ahead of San Diego).....I will be sooo mad if I'm not even considered because of all this! Like why would they send an email assuring you everything was there if it truly wasn't??? (sorry I'm just venting over this!)

Granted it is still on the early side, but given the large number of SDN Psychology posters, readers, and contacts that all of these people have, it is so interesting that some schools never have any real infomation posted about them. The list from last year reveals some of these holes.

Six down, two to go. Wow, apparently someone thought they were cooler than they actually are....🙁

I have heard that some schools have a bias against students with a MA. Even a Non-terminal MA. Makes me scratch my head really....

Insights, experiences, comments, prayers?

just wanted to add that a coworker of mine heard from CU Boulder yesterday that all of their invites have been sent out. Just an FYI for anyone waiting.

Did the coworker happen to mention how candidates were notified? Ugh that sucks 🙁

No, he didn't, sorry!...and I just wanted to clarify, this was for their clinical psych phd program

Email invitation--choice of 2/15 or 2/22--a total of 40-50 applicants will be interviewed.🙂

Any idea when/if GWU has sent out invites/rejections yet? I'm dying to hear from them...

Katie, Psy.D interviews are supposed to be going out this week and next week; I haven't heard about Ph.D though. Last year, they weren't sent until about Mid-Feb.

Congrats!! I was also invited to interview, however, already have interviews for both dates. I was thinking I would opt for the phone interview at either Indiana State or the other school but I was just wondering...has anyone here ever opted for the phone interview over an in-person interview and actually got in?? This idea makes me nervous...

Has anyone heard from Widener, University of Denver, Chicago School or Professional Psychology of Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology about interviews?

Thanks!

Steph

Congratulations to you also!

Due to travel expenses and low preference, I'm considering the same course of action before I reply to confirm an interview date. I would ask for the same feedback.

In any case, best of luck PsychNerd!

So sorry to hear this ... Hang in there. You still have two left and could get invited by both and get to acceptances. Also, how can you be sure you're not getting invites to any of the other six? Have you actually gotten rejection letters?

*MOD NOTE: I combined your thread with the interview thread, as this is the appropriate place for your question.*

Thanks Layleh! Yeah, I'm waiting on the PhD program, not the PsyD... I forgot to specify. Uggghhh I don't want to wait that long! I've heard from all the other schools I applied to with Dec. 1st due dates...

Not a problem! You aren't alone on the wanting to hear from the school. I've heard from past applicants that they are notoriously slow, disorganized, and VERY hard to contact for questions via phone/email.

Hahahahaha... GREAT. Although, to be fair, when ETS seriously screwed up my GRE score reports, the people I talked to at GW were very helpful and accommodating.

Speaking of which (serious side note, given the theme of this thread), did anyone else take the general GREs in November and get screwed by ETS a million times over? Because I did, like woah.

FYI....

For anyone who's waiting to hear from Berkeley, they said that most of the remaining interview requests should be made within the next couple of days. Even then, it could possibly spill out into next week. So if you haven't gotten a call back from them yet, don't lose hope........

I phoned Graduate Admissions to ascertain that my application was complete and ready for review as the process begins tomorrow 2/1. They simply lost my entire package (ots, lors, cv, ect.) which was FED EXed and delivery confirmed w/ electronic signature TWO WEEKS ago. Evidence for the culprit was met with confusion and a shrug. The good news is that they have my application, which was submitted electronically (Computers 1; Humans 0). Moreover, they have no record of official GRE scores which were requested on 12/22/07 (I can't be sure who loses a point for this one).

I admittedly found guilty pleasure in the secretary's dismay when I curtly withdrew my application.

To all applicants to the Long Island University-Clinical Ph.D. program: Your chances just got slightly better, but proceed with caution! 🙄

Wow, the level of incompetence is astonishing! I can understand why you would want to withdraw your app, but will you get your money back?

I guess with all the invitations you've gotten -- is it more than 3 at this point? -- you feel like you don't need them? Was this for the Brooklyn or CWPost campus?

don't give up hope applicants, i just checked my voice mail and i got an invitation! (virginia consortium psyd program) bummed after reading that invitations had gone out already this week, I had mentally added it to my rejection list so it was a very pleasant surprise. hope this helps!!

i think it's time to give up hope. i got my official rejection this morning.

I'm sorry jaybee2008. Did you have an interview and a rejection, or did you just get the rejection letter?

i know the thread says that invites for upenn clin psych phd will be given via email for feb22/29 but i was wondering if anyone had actually received an invite as of yet? or is this just the info off their website...thanks

it was a flat out rejection. they said i made it to the shortlist, but that they can't take everyone. i guess that is some consolation, but it's still a bummer.

Thanks for letting us know. I also applied there and had written them off ... but if they're still calling maybe I still have a chance.

They get around 400 applications and take 4 people, right? It's almost miraculous to get into Yale.

is appreciated.

One virtue of the program is that they waive the application fee if you submit it electronically. We could refer to this as the cost of incompetance.

Clinical Ph.D. program.

I consider myself to be fortunate this year with respect to interview offers and continue to be humbled by the process in spite of my decision to withdraw.

are known for their horrific administration. last year they sent my application back and then sent me a rejection letter in july...
i'm still applying again - hope for the best

Bummer about Yale. Did they e-mail or snail mail the decision? I applied there too and haven't heard anything yet, but am bracing myself for the worst...

It's a great program though. I know two people who graduated from it and they were both pretty happy with their training.

Speaking of application nightmares, my coworker is applying to UCLA's PhD program and had a hell of a time tracking down the check he sent for his application payment... Apparently they won't let you pay that online? So they couldn't find the check because they posted the wrong mailing address or something online, which ultimately resulted in his final payment being late since they didn't tell him there was a problem until weeks after he sent the first check. Of course.

You'd think, after going through this process a bazillion times, these schools (especially one as high-ranked as UCLA!) would get on the ball with making things easier and more sensical for applicants...

FYI just got a call this morning from an admin assistant inviting me to interview for their clinical psych PsyD program! I'm guessing they are in the early stages of invites as nobody else has reported getting an invite (at least not that I am aware of...I believe all the other reports of denver invites were for their PhD program). Anyway, just wanted to pass it along so fellow applicants know that invites are now coming out! :hardy: GOOD LUCK!!!:luck:

Received an email stating that they will notify all applicants regarding invites by the 8th of February. Interviews are Feb 21st and 22nd. There are not alternate dates and they do not conduct phone interviews. Lastly, they asked applicants not to contact the dept. regarding their application.

To be fair, I just received a phone call from an administrative staff who investigated the problem and recovered my application, although I probably will have to resend official GRE scores.

I'm not able to speak for myself here (yet?), but another co-worker at the APA just got an interview for GW's Psy.D program via phone call. Interviews will be held on 2/22. They started making the calls this week...calls will continue through next week as well.

Rutgers Social Psych PhD, email contact from POI, phone interview tbd, interview/campus tour date Feb 29.

First invite of the round for me! W00t!

Hi All- Just wanted to say that I've been stalking this thread for the past few days but have finally decided to post! I'm a second round app (was 0-10 last year- no interviews, just those "polite" rejection letters). Thankfully this year's record is showing signs of improvement. I have my first ever interview on Monday! Hoping that there will be more to follow...

Good luck everyone! Stay positive! :luck:🙂

Has anyone heard anything from NOVA Southeaster??? (....T4C ... do you know when invites are usually extended?)

So I just wanted to give everyone an update on my situation - I FINALLY got in touch with Sandy and she said that my application IS being reviewed!! She said that the JDP understands that some of the applications haven't been matched to transcripts yet.

Obviously, I still need to tackle Graduate Admissions and force them to admit they have my two sets somewhere... or else just send a third one. Ugh. Haha.

i got my rejection today. le sigh.

I just got a interview invite from IIT for Clinical Psych PhD, interviews 3/7, email invite on 1/31
