Its C.W. Post – Long Island University, not sure what the C.W. stands for.

The school is named for Charles William Post - the cereal maker. But the school name, itself, is CW Post.

I received e-mail notice from 2 Faculty at Yale that I'll be having a phone interview(they ONLY do phone interviews) tomorrow.

I also received an e-mail invite from the chair of the clinical admissions committee at Temple University inviting me for an interview feb 1 or feb 4.

Hi Psy523!

Do you know if all the invites went out for the Yale phone interviews? It's one of my first choice programs so now I'm getting really anxious!

Also, Drexel started sending out invites last week for anyone who is curious- They said they invite about 10 people per lab (combination of 2 POIs) and the interview dates are on 2/15 and 2/18

I'm sorry I have no idea if other invites went out!

Congrats Psych101, PSY523, and Psych298!!! 😀

I got an interveiw at C.W. Post PsyD program for Feb 3rd. I think they offer interviews various weekends though.

who was the mail from? was it a personal mail or a mass mail?

were the C.W post LIU and Drexel interviews by phone or email? Are they done sending out invites?

Someone from Drexel called me last week saying I had forgotten to include my personal statement (though i'm 100% sure that I did include it) and asked me to fax/email her one. I thought that was nice that they didn't just disregard my application since it was way after the deadline. Maybe someone spilled coffee on mine and so they asked for another one .

The drexel invite was by phone from the graduate secretary and then later in the day I got an email from my POI explaning more about the interview day.

Hope that helps!

LIU CW Post can't be done sending invites. I got an email today to supply a lost document. And later got confirmation that my file is now complete.

Bravo (Brava?) on the Yale interview. With their acceptance rates, to even make it to the interview stage is incredibly impressive for an applicant.

Would you mind sharing some of your credentials with the board? Obviously no need to be so specific as to reveal your identity unless you want to, but I think some folks who haven't applied yet might find it helpful to see the kind of credentials a Yale interviewee has. Things like how many, if any, posters and pubs you have, whether or not you have an academic connection there(e.g. undergrad thesis advisor collaborates with someone at Yale, etc.), whether or not you worked before applying, etc.

No pressure if you aren't comfortable posting things like that online (totally understandable), but if you are I think it would give the (academically) younger folks here something to shoot for.

What are the chances we'd have 3 members with similar sounding names....oh wait....😀.

Slightly tempted to change my name to something that starts with Psy followed by random numbers so I can finally join the "I've been invited somewhere" club 😳 I know it wouldn't make a difference, just frustrated with the lack of progress over here🙁 (I blaim it on the dream I had last night - no pun intended. Had the best dream where I got invites to interview at two of my schools, it went well, they were so much fun, then I wake up and realize it was just a dream as there are no invites over here as of yet) *sigh* 🙁

i wasnt even going to post what interviews i get, as not to brag but i also have a phone interview with yale and based on your questions i felt that i really had to answer... some of my credentials may actually be surprising:

i have no publications, did 2 poster presentations on my honors thesis - one being the undergrad research symposium - and did get highest honors. i went to emory.

my gpa is not a 4.0, or a 3.9 - although my last 2 years gpa gets close to that - but closer to 3.6.

i did a bit of research undergrad but not related to what i want to do now.

my job now is very related to what i want to do, but a different look at it. im working on psychiatry for a neurologist - very brain imaging and psychiatry focused. my boss is pretty famous and known in the field related to what i want to do, so i assume all the faculty im applying to work with have heard of her, but she doesnt know any of them. nor does my undergrad thesis advisor.

possible that my other 2 letter writers may know some of the people i applied to work with but who knows.

job is pretty impressive (i feel really lucky to have it) - potentially ground breaking work, or already is, depending on who you ask and how much they really believe in what we are doing for its purpose.

(sorry to be somewhat cryptic about certain things, but if i give too much info you could search and find me pretty easily.)

i obviously have worked, now for 2 years.

last, i applied last year and did not get into school. my focus was different (kinda really got into what i am doing now instead of what my undergrad stuff was in) but not too much else besides the extra year. that really may have an impact for several reasons - even down to the extra year out of school, ive matured a lot and it may show through my writing... who knows.

what else - gre's are decent, verbal is eh... quant is pretty high... psych gre isnt anything impressive either. im not the most perfectionistic person, so when i say eh i really mean it, not like, i got a 750 not an 800.

moral of the story is, you dont have to be perfect in every way they are looking - maybe someone is and they get the offer not me, but... you are what you are and thats what gets you in.

hope that helps out... might actually ease some nerves of those wanting to apply next year!

My goal was not to guilt people into 'fessing up about their credentials, but I do appreciate you posting them!

That's interesting...I have to say I AM rather surprised. Not that your credentials aren't impressive, just that I was expecting superpowers of some kind. "Walks through walls", that kind of thing.

Guess this just goes to show alot of it IS about fit and that there is no one perfect candidate for all grad schools.

exactly why i felt the need to reply.

I too have no superpowers or special connections... and there are already a couple of schools listed on here that have sent invites for interviews and didn't invite me.. so don't worry and stay positive🙂

Loyola (MD) just sent out a e-mail interview informing applicants of when the interview date is. Requests for interviews have NOT been sent out yet, but I thought I would pass this along for those interested...

(Excerpt from e-mail)

If you will be offered an interview, you will hear via email and snail mail the last week in January/the first week in February. Please note that we only have one interview day, Friday February 22, 2008. It is a full day starting at 8am and lasts until about 7pm.

If you don't mind my asking, who sent the e-mail? I applied there and didn't get the e-mail 🙁

Loyola (MD) just sent out a mass interview informing applicants of when the interview date is. Requests for interviews have NOT been sent out yet, but I thought I would pass this along for those interested...

Honestly that is just wrong. A. I don't think you should send invites snail mail, that information is very time sensitive. B. What the heck do they think you are going to do now? If you don't know that you are invited then you can't book airfare or anything. What a wasted email.

just fyi - not all of drexel's invites have been made and applications are still being reviewed with the hopes to finish and notify potential candidates by the end of this week. also, PCOM (psy.d) email invite (sometime last week) and interview on 2/15

Who is your POI at Maryland? I went there as a undergrad and have a lot of grad student buddies, so let me know if you have any pre-interview questions and I may be able to give you a heads-up.

Well crap. Just tried to check my application status for Loyola (MD) and it says "there is no status assigned to this user". Just double checked everything and my online app was submitted (have the confirmation number as well) and all my supplemental materials were sent together and signed for well before the deadline (have the tracking number). Sent the admissions people an e-mail to see if there's anything else i need to do to be able to track the status 🙁 Crap crap crap.

one of the schools i applied to this year had trouble with my application, i think because i somewhat applied there last year - started an app but didnt finish.

did you apply to Loyola - MD last year? this may have something to do with it. and if so, might be worth just calling the graduate office or whoever deals with the online apps.

apparently, where i applied and had trouble, the system spit me out to nowhere (the online application abyss i guess) since it had seen my SSN before but not processed an app.

I applied there two years ago (which does appear on the application - "re-applicant to the same program") Grrrrrrr....maybe I will call, I'm too impatient to wait for an e-mail!!! :scared:

*edit* - just called and apparently everything is in (as it should be) and I guess they don't do status updates til they make the final decision. Weird. But still haven't gotten any type of e-mail from them recently 🙁

Just wanted to commiserate with you blindchaos - no invites here either and 20% of my schools are on the list so far. Feeling desperate...

Received invite for U of Oregon School Psychology program via call from POI. Interviews 2/25.

Joining in with the commiserating... 3/7 of my schools are on the list at the moment, and I have yet to hear a thing. I thought my stats were fine, so now I'm frantically obsessing over my SOPs. I know the writing's good, but maybe I was too specific about my research interests; I shouldn't have phrased this like that; I should have been more clear about this; it reads too much like a resume, etc... *rolls eyes*.

I think waiting really is the hardest part. Good luck everyone!

If you don't mind my asking, who sent the e-mail? I applied there and didn't get the e-mail 🙁

Check your PM...I just sent you the entire e-mail with the name of the person who sent it.

Just got the e-mail!!! *whew* ok....I can breathe again 😀

don't forget to ad Loyola MD to the list, and PCOM was also mentioned in one of the other threads.

Added PCOM, not adding Loyola MD yet as they haven't extended invites (e-mail was informational only) Hope to add them soon though 🙂

As an aside, I looked at Loyola when I was applying (5! years ago), and i was very impressed by their program. It is a gorgous campus and it is a great place to live....as I was a local for 6+ years. I withdrew my app because I wanted to re-locate, but it is a quality program. If anyone has any questions about the area, feel free to drop me a PM.

i just got a call from Yeshiva University - Clinical Health Ph.D. for an interview with my POI 2/12! my first!😀😀😀

I just got a call from Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine! Interviews are 2/22.

Two seconds later I checked my email and I received an invitation to interview at the University of Missouri in St. Louis! It's also on 2/22.

What to do . . .

By the way - has anyone received any acceptances yet? I know it's early, but some interviews have already happened.

Hello everyone. For those of you who applied to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Counseling Psych program....I received an email (early last week) from the program assistant stating that they have reviewed all completed applications. However, I was informed that they were missing my personal statement (you had to submit it via the online application and snail mail....I think one goes to the Grad School and one goes to the department....their app. process was a little confusing) and that I needed to sned a copy post marked no later than the 20th (was actually told to email it to the appropriate people vs. sending it snail mail). After I submitted the missing document I was told it would be about a week before I would hear something (didn't specify if I would hear about an interview, an application completion update, etc.). So I said all this to say, that if you have not been contacted about an interview or an incomplete application, you might have not been extended an invitation (pure speculation based on some info. in the email...don't know for sure).

I received an email from Loyola University Chicago which stated that applicants can expect to hear back by January 25th and the interview date is Monday, February 11, 2008.

Good luck everyone!

I got an email this weekend from SUNY Buffalo for a phone interview

By the way - has anyone received any acceptances yet? I know it's early, but some interviews have already happened.

There's one acceptance on the list thus far (U of Minn. Counseling psych - dept of ed.) though I don't think anybody has started the acceptance thread yet so that's still up for grabs 😉 We have the invite thread and the reject/dinged thread, it's about time for an acceptance thread too!

On a sidenote - I thought the board was rather slow today in regards to invites coming in and then BAM loads of people post with invites/info! Congrats all around!!! 😀

Hi.

Everyone keeps mentioning last year's interview invite thread to use as a reference to see when specific schools typically invite/interview, but I can't seem to figure out how to find the thread. 😕 Where is it? Thanks!

Just received a call from UCLA about their clinical psych interview which will be from 02/07-02/09. 🙂

As much as I obsessively check the board, I was surprised too. It adds anxiety that I haven't heard back from anyone yet though, plus a friend of mine just got accepted to a Ph.D. program in American Studies/History today (just got a call from him).

Congrats to everyone getting interviews, the hard work is paying off!

I'm with you Satchmo - very exciting but also very stressful - I haven't heard from any (14!) of my programs either🙁

Another anxiety-inducing sidenote: two heavy-hitters were just added to the list. Not to say that any of the schools previously listed aren't heavy-hitters, but these two - Rutgers (PsyD) and UCLA (Clin PhD) - are very well known and highly regarded. Congrats to everyone getting interviews today! :hardy:

Argosy-Washington, DC just e-mailed me for an interview (dates 1/25 or 2/4)

Was the Rutgers interview for the PsyD or PhD program?

Did anyone hear about Univ of Nevada - Reno yet? Invites were supposed to go out today so i was wondering if anyone got anything...

University of Virginia invite- emailed by POI 1/22/08- Arts and Sciences (not Curry)

Was that UVa Clinical through the Arts and Sciences department or through the Curry School of Education?

Was the Rutgers interview for the PsyD or PhD program?

This is just a guess: but I bet it's for the PhD because I noticed that the interview is on 2/8. The PsyD interview day is February 25 for all applicants. (It says so on their web site.) So this 2/8 invite must be for the PhD.

If anyone applied for the Rutgers PsyD program, did you notice that it took a loooooong time for them to update your info online?
