1) Well, they sent it to you, but they probably won't look any of it over until they have everything.

2) JHU, definitely. They sent me a packet telling me where to find my secondary about a month after I was verified, so... I've heard Rush is the same way.
 
I was complete at USC and MSSM on 8/4 and NYU on 7/20. AECOM hasn't marked anyone as complete yet.
 
For Yale's optional question... would it be too repetitive to describe in detail my numerous research activities-including my graduate work.. I haven't gone into detail about the specifics anywhere in my application besides maybe what the title of the project was and that I did research in these various labs. Since they are heavy on research i thought maybe it would be a good idea?
Any thoughts would really be appreciated?...
 
Well... AECOM cashed my check on Wednesday. Imagine my shock when I looked in my checking account and saw the amount in there had dropped $150 this past week.
 
So I've been in Africa for the past two months and I had very limited access to internet. I managed to send out amcas and tmdsas early july but I've just now started working on secondaries. I received most of them in mid-july and most people say that you have to turn them around in 2-3 weeks, but it's already been longer for me and will definitely be even longer by the time I finish. Is it really late for me to get them out in the next two weeks and should I contact med schools to explain why mine were not sent back in the standard time frame? Or is the 2-3 week thing just to help you stay on track? (I now have 3 days to finish N'western's app...lol.)

on a similar note to the above question, duke says they would like the secondary done in two weeks, is this a hard and fast rule?
 
Is anyone else filling out the Brown secondary essay about "best attribute" and wonder how they'll be able to fill 4800 characters?
I'm contemplating writing a few sentences and calling it a day... is that bad?

Yep, but I decided that I am not going to try and fill all 4800 they can tell when you start rambling just to fill sapce
 
For the Tulane secondary, did you guys really print out your entire AMCAS app and include it? I know they ask for it, but I take issue with them being able to see every other school I applied to. Did people just black that part out?

I actually forgot to include it, and they said it was ok when I called to check (and for proof that it really was ok, I got an interview invite). I'm SURE you can just cut off the page where the list of schools starts. That's not what they're looking for - they're just being paranoid about there being a glitch and not getting your primary from AMCAS.
 
Anybody received this secondary? I'm OOS, so who knows if I'll even get one, but I was curious if others have received it.

People ask all the time if you really have to fill out those "optional" "is there anything else you'd like to tell us" essays. I was a little worried because all I'd written for the University of Vermont's optional essay was that I have an aunt and uncle living in Vermont. That's IT. Pretty silly, but I was feeling burnt out at the time from UofChicago's big essays. For most other apps, I talked about what I like in particular about their school. I figured that UVM would scoff at my silly attempt at "optional" info, but I actually got an invite there today! Bottom line is not to stress about the optional essay. If your app is otherwise good, I don't think it hurts to leave it blank or to not say much. No need to BS. Of course, if you've got something substantive to add, that can only help.
 
yyyyay and there are noo essays (I think) I have to go back and look over it a little later...they took soo long🙂
 
What's up with Oklahoma?

I know they have the secondary info (ok, not really a true secondary, but instructions) on their website, but do they send you an email to let you know that they need you to fill that stuff out?

It's the only non-screening secondary I haven't gotten (minus Upstate...but that's a whole other issue). 😕
 
Our records indicate that your Secondary Application has been received, but it has not been determined whether your application is complete or not at this time. Once that determination has been made, you will be notified via email.

^^Is anyone's status page different than this? How long did it take??

Mine is the same way. I submitted my secondary about 5 weeks ago, but my LORs just got sent out last week via virtualevals.
 
Has anybody heard anything from Mayo? The last email I received from there was just notifying me that they had received my electronic payment.
 
Ah, SLU's was nice and easy! Wish the fee was a bit lower, though ($100).
 
anyone else get dartmouth's secondary only via snail mail? I didn't get anything online and I was wondering if this was unusual.
 
Anyone having trouble with the Case Western pic upload? It says the picture must be about 150x150 and less than 25 kB (although now it tells me it must be less than 10...🙄), and a JPEG/GIF. I have a 141x141 JPEG that's 4.05 kB and it will NOT upload.🙄

That's weird, I got mine to work as soon as it was under 10k (9.2 or something)

Grrrr, stupid Microsoft Picture editor....do you have Photoshop? I think I need someone to help me with this.

Yeah, I used PS and adjusted the compression to get it under the minimum.

Would you be able to do it for me? For some reason, MS is not working very well for me with regards to compression. I can PM you my pic (just don't sell it to all those SDNers who have crushes on me :meanie: :hardy:).


EDIT: nevermind, had a friend help me on MSN

Really? Where does it say that? The impression I got from their web site, was that you had until December, if you really wanted to push it. Are you applying MD/PhD?

website says CC payments available on 8/13, but I can't seem to find a link for it.
 
For those who have done tulane... they asked for a copy of amcas, did you include the last pages of amcas with the list of schools that you applied to? i don't really want to. thanks

A good chunk of my list is on the same page as the end of my PS, so it's difficult to get rid of it. However, I do not intend on sending in the very last page, which has the remainder of the list.
 
has Minnesota (Twin Citites) released their secondary yet?

the next step you'll see is this, which is what mine is now...



Our records indicate that your application is complete, and is currently being reviewed by the Admissions Committee. You will be contacted by mail and/or phone during the next several weeks with its decision.

I forgot to include a copy of my primary, and they said it was fine (I got an interview, so I know it wasn't a problem). They just ask for it because they're worried about glitches (i.e., that they never electronically receive your primary from AMCAS and that that holds things up). I'm sure you could just cut off that part of the page with the school info in it.

They have not--a friend of mine who applied last year said they were a little later than most schools in releasing them.

As my in-state school though, I'm eagerly awaiting it as well.
 
hey somebody please help.............

how the hell do you write a secondary app for an early decision school. obviously they're my top choice... i can list the strengths but how do i make it a WOW essay.

question is: "why do you want to attend this school"

i mean do i get fresh like with the ps or what........

again, any info strongly appreciated. i gotta get this thing in today or tomorrow latest...

I got it 8/8 after being verified June 8th or so.

For those who have submitted it does it give you a status or does it just say:

The status of your application for admission to Drexel University College of Medicine is: Nothing?
 
I just got the secondary yesterday, and was verified the first week of June. I've read on here that they are just getting sent out in random batches, and it only takes a few minutes to fill out and pay em, so no worries yet. Good luck!
 
Wow, Cornell sent me ANOTHER secondary application. They must really want me.:laugh:

That's what mine says too. They did send an e-mail acknowledging that they have my secondary though, and now I'm just waiting on my LORs to get there.

And I was verified in the third week of July, got my Drexel secondary on Aug 7. Seems to be relatively random.
 
did anyone get an Emory email today? or do they just send it out after they downloaded your verified primary? the email says the seconday will be ready in a couple of weeks
