the same thing happened to me but with another school that said they already sent out all of their invites for interviews - I asked (maybe closer to beg?) if they could review my application and I ended up receiving an interview as well.

Someone posted earlier that all invites have been sent out for the clinical psych program at NIU. I called the graduate school to confirm if a decision had been made on my file and they told me that they never received my personal statement. This was obviously upsetting as they had confirmed that all my materials had been received back in December when I called. They said I could still fax over my personal statement for review. About 3 hours after I did I received a call from my POI inviting me for an interview. She also let me know that NIU experienced some problems with their computer system.

Moral of the story- check, double check, and triple check that all materials have been received, especially if you applied to NIU.

After an initial stomach dropping feeling, that must be amazing to receive that call. Congratulations! I'm sure there are lot of people wishing they were in your shoes right now. Enjoy it.

Another invite:

University of North Dakota Clinical PhD: Email from DCT for interview on Feb 27-28

It's been a good week for me, huh? 😀

Anyone know what's going on with their interview process? all invites extended yet? Only school I've heard almost nothing about recently....

I'm waiting on UVA too. A friend who applied last year got an interview invite in late-January. The website says not to expect interview offers until post-Feb. 16. So who knows.

I was definitely happy to get the news, but it also makes me feel anxious about all the other schools I haven't heard from. At this point I guess it's not a bad idea to call them.

Argh. I mean, I'm happy that it worked out for you, but how many people just didn't get an offer because the school messed up?

Answer: more than none.

DD interviewed Monday and is in today at a school in Scotland, she just has to wait for funding as they are not linked, but it's just nice to be in somewhere.

hey you guys, i just joined this site and noticed someone asked a question about uva - i got an invitation to interview there about a week ago, on jan 30th, and their interview dates are feb 13th and 20th.

**edit: someone just asked me to clarify and i forgot there are 2 programs at uva - i was referring to the curry one, not the gsas. sorry for the confusion!

Thanks for the information. Would you mind telling us if your POI contacted you or if it was someone like a grad admissions person? Just curious if POIs are individually contacting people or if mass emails were already sent out by the program.

Just wanted to make sure everyone saw this edit -- bitingmynails is interviewing at UVA-Curry and so far on this forum no one has mentioned receiving an interview offer from UVA's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences' Clinical Ph.D. program ... please post if anyone hears anything from UVA's GSAS!

I have a question. According to this forum, a certain school has already sent out invites for interviews and rejection letters. I haven't received either.

So I emailed the secretary today and she said the program has reviewed my application but has not yet made a decision. How am I supposed to interpret that? No rejection, no interview, and no decision?

You aren't rejected.....so that is good.

Houston is essentially my last hope. So if anybody hears anything please post or PM me please, if you have time. I'm dying here! =\

I was just wondering if anyone has heard from their POI at the University of Houston today... any takers?

Email from the Clinical Psychology PhD program Rosalind Franklin University

2/5 from POI

Interview Date 3/13

Good Luck to Everyone that applied

Hi all,

Just got an interview invite from LIU clinical PhD. There were two dates to choose from: Feb 28th and March 7th.
I think the call was from the dept secretary.

Is that LIU-Brooklyn campus?

Has ANYONE on here heard anything from GWU's Clinical Ph.D. program? We've got a few invites for the psy.d., but I havent heard anything about the ph.d. Have they extended any invites for that yet?

Just as a heads up, George Washington's Clinical PhD program will not extend invites until the first week of February. Interviews will be on Feb 27th and March 2nd.

The first week of February is almost over, and I haven't heard anything from them!

received a call this morning from my POI at North Texas (Ph.D.)Clinical for interview...

interview days are 2/27 or 3/2

"Most of our invitations have been extended to applicants already. You will receive a letter notifying you of your status.

Thank you for your interest in PsyD at George Washington University.

Good luck in your academic pursuits.

Sincerely,

Office Staff
Center for Professional Psychology
George Washington University"

I'm taking this as the invites have all been extended for GWU's PsyD program...

On a higher note, I got an invite for Temple's PhD in School Psych today for the 16th. Any other School Psych applicants hear back from schools?

Wahoo! 3rd interview this week!

Professor of Interest called me tonight, invited me to the interview on 3/13.

I have now heard from all 5 of my schools, and I am happy with my 3/5 odds...hopefully one of those turns into an acceptance!

I am sure if anyone has heard anything they would have posted, but I feel the compulsion to ask anyway...

Has anyone heard anything from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center?

I was told by the grad secretary a while ago that invitations would go out this week. I was also told the typically invite via snail-mail.

Did anyone get an invitation to interview at Indiana State's PsyD program? If so, can you tell whether it's more of an open house or an actual interview day? The email was confusing... maybe we're doing group interviews?

Also, any opinions about ISU's program? I applied because it was one of the few funded PsyD programs listed in the Insider's Guide. I've been lurking on the thread for a while and haven't seen any mention of it.

Thanks for your help!

those rankings are objective data. ratio of pubs to citations is a good measure of how important the field thinks someone's work is. it's not something to shake a stick at. but as previously pointed out certainly also not something to base a decision on. use that data to figure out who is doing the publsihing, where they published, and if interested, why it's so important.
:luck:

Those rankings are basically worthless. People should focus on:

1) General Reputation
2) Their strength in your area(s) of research
3) Internship placement rates
4) Types of jobs graduates hold
5) # of publications by faculty and students (and where they publish)

Yesterday I received an invitation for Immaculata University via snail mail. Interview is 2/25.

And this afternoon I received an email inviting me to interview at La Salle University. Interview is 2/23.

Both are clinical PsyD.

Just got a call from Hofstra and an email a few days ago from Yeshiva (both clinical PhD) for an interview.

Anyone hear anything from St. Johns, FDU, or Teachers college? Also for clincal PhD

I'm sort of in the same boat. I applied to 9 clinical phd programs and 1 psyd program and have heard from NONE. 6 of my schools have already started giving out invites according to this forum and around 4 have claimed to be "done" with sending out invites, but I haven't heard from any of them apart from the customary "your file is complete and is being reviewed by the dept"

My question is, do schools immediately send rejection emails when they have decided on the group of students they will accept, or should I brace myself for 10 snail mail rejections come April? 🙁

Received phone call today 2/5 inviting me for an interview 2/27, but had to email to try to reschedule b/c 3 places have tried to schedule for that weekend, ahhh.

I'm in a similar boat - one rejection and one interview out of 8. From prior year experience(!), some schools are good about it (e.g., Yale's rejection this year) and others just wait until the last minute. I wish I could offer more comfort.

Thanks, but i think I know why I haven't been contacted 🙁 I got this email from my POI for the UCSD/SDSU JDP:

Hi psychick,

I didn't see your name among the neuropsych applicants! Did you apply to a different track? I'm afraid we have already selected our interview candidates. Sorry I don't have better news for you. Good luck with your graduate studies.

POI

I have been assured multiple times that my application was received and forwarded to the dept for admission recommendation. This really sucks [sniff] Now I'm paranoid that all of my applications have not been received and that is why I haven't heard from any of them!!!

Received an email from my POI last night. They are still reviewing applications and will start sending out invites next week. Interviews are February 27th and March 2nd.

I woke up this morning to two rejections: UCLA and Northwestern...

Who ever wrote about triple checking there application materials has me nervous.. but I feel like I am being annoying if I call schools and ask AGAIN..

How did Northwestern let you know? Also, was it the Feinberg program?

Just wanted to let everyone who applied to UF know that not ALL interview invites have gone out yet. I emailed grad admin and was told that more invites would be going out today if there was time and I guess monday if they don't get out today.

I just got a call from URI inviting me for an interview for February 23rd. The woman who called me (she was extremely nice) told me that e-mails went out on Saturday but many pple did not recieve them (myself included).

I hope the pple that are waiting to hear back about URI also have some good news to share today! Woohoooo!

Also still waiting to hear from St. Johns, FDU, and TC...

last week my POI at TC (I emailed him & he actually wrote back) said that they hadn't started looking at apps yet (!) but planned to w/in the next 2 weeks, and then extend interviews. so maybe next week we'll hear something? they're basically my last hope at this point so :xf:. otherwise i'm applying to 3 masters programs now as my "plan b", which i literally didn't have until... hmm last week when i was rejected from 4 schools in 3 days?!?!?!!!!

Hmm... I just got an (unsolicited) e-mail from Loyola Chicago informing me that they are "still in the process of reviewing applications and making decisions." I'm not holding my breath since their interview is today!

for clinical phd??? last week they said they were all done, and then i got an email AND a snail mail rejection. weird!!!

that's so bizarre. i haven't heard a peep out of loyola chicago since they confirmed receipt of everything back in december, so i assumed that meant a rejection what with interview invites already extended.

also is there still no word on st johns?

how come i got rejected and you guys heard nothing? i must be even more special 😛

I said the following. I should note though that I only sent this to the POI's that emailed me back from my initial "I am applying this year and interested in your research" email. I felt that they were positive in their response back to me the first time.

"I apologize for emailing you at this very hectic application time. I
am applying for clinical programs this year and University of ____________ is my top choice! As I mentioned in my November email, I am very
interested in your research given our shared interest in the _________
population. I was curious if any or all of the interview invites had
been handed out yet? I am trying to coordinate my interviews to ensure
that there is not a scheduling conflict. I also understand if this is
not something you can comment about. I will continue my quest to get a
response from the department.

Thank you,"

Hope that helps. Like I said, I received responses from all the POI's that I emailed and they were all friendly and understanding, even the ones that were emailing back to tell me I did not make the cut.

Do you think it's OK to an e-mail a POI asking about invites even if you didn't send them a personal e-mail back in the fall? Now I'm wishing I had done that! Also, to those of you who sent out a letter to the admissions secretary, how do you word that?

I didn't think I would do this, but now I'm thinking there's no harm in asking...right?
