Do you think it's OK to an e-mail a POI asking about invites even if you didn't send them a personal e-mail back in the fall? Now I'm wishing I had done that! Also, to those of you who sent out a letter to the admissions secretary, how do you word that?

I didn't think I would do this, but now I'm thinking there's no harm in asking...right?

If you didn't initially email your POI before applying, I don't know if it's a good idea to email them now. It might seem weird and random, but that's just my personal opinion... coming from someone w/ no interviews! 🙁

This is the response I got from the admin at URI

"I do believe that the clinical faculty did extend their invitations to
interview day this week, there will also be regret notices going out as well.

Best,"

sad 🙁

That's what I was worried about! I think I'm going to hold off on e-mailing my POIs at PhD programs but will probably e-mail the admissions office at larger PsyD programs.

i don't think it would hurt to email the admissions officer at either type of program. that's usually who i contacted to get a response. sometimes its not the one you want.. but after the first few rejections i kinda just wanted to know if i was in the running or not!

Thanks for the advice, saribuo13! It's just so nerve-racking not knowing either way! How did you word your e-mails to the admissions office? Did you just ask what the status of your application was and if any/all of the interview invites have been extended? Thanks again!!

basically! maybe start off with "I'm sure this is a hectic time for you, but I was wondering if you could tell me..."

I went on the UNCG website to check my application status. Following the directions on the website, I logged-in but didn't see the "application status" field - which should say if a decision is made, etc. I contacted the Grad. Admissions Office and was told that this is a "running problem." She also went and checked the Psych. department's current status and reassured me that "most, if not all, of the psych dept's POIs have yet to make decisions and calls should be expected to start next week."

I guess I'll anxiously wait... :xf:

I just called Loyola and the woman at the psychology department told me that the committee was still deciding on applications. I don't know how accurate this information is... she may have just wanted to get me off the phone. Who was the person who heard they had extended all invites?

Thanks Sassafrass! I am in the same boat, waiting to hear back from UNCG about invites. The anxiety of waiting is terrible. But here is to hoping :xf:. good luck to you.

I received an email from my POI in the Counseling Psych program at Virginia Commonwealth for an interview on either 2/20 or 2/23. Yay!

Hmmm. . . I think I might already have my answer. On the application log in page under "Application Type" it says Graduate Non-Admit. I can't remember what it said before, but I am assuming that is a pretty clear rejection. Oh well.

KTCLOWN don't worry. I called about that. That is how they classify all applicants. It needs to say Application Status: ______ with something after (decision made, etc.) Don't worry. That is what all the online pages say. I double checked with admissions and Itech who manage the page over at UNCG.

I don't know that anyone has said they've extended all invites. Their first interview day is today (Feb 6) and the 2nd one is (Feb 20). Those of us who were invited in late January were offered both dates. It's possible some people declined their interviews there and so more interview invites were extended for the second date.

Also, I just received an interview invite to Wayne State via a phone call from my POI (with a followup email moments later) and (almost simultaneously) an email from the graduate coordinator there. The interview date is Feb. 27. Best of luck to all who applied!

Did anyone apply to UNC-Charlotte? Any information would be appreciated!

I also was unfortunate enough to discover my reject status on the application website for Northwesten-Feinberg.

I received a reply from the admin assistant at UVA (not the Curry School) saying faculty are in the midst of inviting applicants for interviews.

I received an unsolicited email from University of Delaware stating that my application is complete and currently under review, and I may not hear a decision until mid-February. (anyone else receive this??)

My POI from UNCG called me about an hour ago to invite me to interview. There was a faculty meeting today after which faculty are able to go ahead and begin inviting applicants. They are now extending invites for the two dates 2/27 and 3/2. GOOD LUCK!!!!

FYi: you can go to your status check page at http://www.utexas.edu/ogs/admissions/status.html to check whether or not you were denied or still pending.

They had an early app deadline so I am under the impression that all invites have already been extended.

I'm not sure if you are talking about their clinical phd, but if so, I spoke with my POI today and was informed that they were still discussing applicants. I was told that telephone interviews would begin next week with in-person interviews to follow. Although, of course, it may depend on the POI. Best of luck!

Baylor PsyD interview invites are going out today. The grad admissions person seemed to be saying if you don't get it today, you aren't getting one.

Aww that makes me nervous. I haven't heard anything from them today. Congrats to you!!

Hello All!

I e-mailed the graduate assistant at Auburn this morning about the status of my application and this is the response I received:

"The chair of the admissions committee says that they are still
contacting people to arrange interviews and he is not ready to rule
definitively on any applicant's status at this time. Hopefully you
should hear something next week."

Then, this afternoon I received an e-mail intiving me to come down for an interview the weekend of the 28th! Hooray! 😀😀😀

Good luck to everyone else waiting on Auburn!

I don't understand though. Where does it say "denied" or "pending"? Why would an application still be marked pending if all of the invites had been given out? According to the woman I spoke with last week, people are all doing things at their own pace, so does that mean it is a good sign that there is nothing on my page? Or do you think that just means they have not gotten around to updating my page?

At the top of the page under all of my personal information it says: "Your application has been given careful consideration by the committee on Graduate Studies. On the basis of their recommendation, your application has been denied. If you have questions, please write directly to the Committee in your major department."

Maybe if it does not say that on your page then you are still in the running! I think I must have not made it past the first cut. A friend of mine is applying and she has already received an official rejection but her page still says pending.

People who applied to Cincinnati:

Has anyone heard any news...I emailed the secretary a week ago to find out the status on the apps and never recieved a response back...does anyone have any information or are you guys all in the same boat as I am about Cincy??

University of Windsor adult clinical - email from grad coordinator for phone interview

I just got an invite to Baylor via email for the clinical PsyD program. They have multiple interview dates in the end of February and the beginning of March. I am so happy, this was definitely one of, if not the single, top choice for me. Here is a clip from the email:

"We have completed the first phase of admissions for the Baylor University Psy.D. program in clinical psychology. We have carefully reviewed your total application and are very pleased to inform you that you have been selected to come for an interview. Only about 29 of the 134 applicants are invited."

So excited!!!!!

I just got this email too...and here I thought I was out of the running since I knew some people had already gotten interview invites!

Just when I was ready to throw in the towel 🙂

Dear Psychick,
The Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at the University of South Florida has carefully screened over 200 applicants for our entering class of 2009. I am pleased to inform you that you emerged as one of our top 35 candidates for consideration of admission into the program. We hope to admit 7-9 students this year.
Email from Coordinator of Admissions, open house on feb 20 and 27, social events with grad students on the 16th and 26th.

wooooooo!!!!! my POI from UNCG called me today too!!! Such a nice Friday afternoon surprise 🙂
best of luck, everyone!

Got an invitation to interview 2/23 via e-mail from URI today. It said "2nd invitation" in the subject title, leading me to believe what was said earlier. They tried to e-mail people earlier this week / possibly last week, but their e-mail system must have had a glitch, so they are resending e-mails to applicants.

***EDIT*** I spoke with the person coordinating interviews there and she confirmed. They emailed everyone last Saturday (1/31) but several emails appeared to have not gone through. They both called and re-emailed me on Friday, which is when I found out I was selected for interivew.

As one of the people who mentioned being rejected by Feinberg, I should say that no, I did not apply to neuropsych...

Oh man, I really thought my chances were strong at USF or UNCG.

Oh well. 🙁

Congrats to those of you who were contacted!

Yes, I applied to the neuropsychology concentration (Weintraub was POI), rejected according to the site

Did anyone get an invitation to interview at Indiana State's PsyD program? If so, can you tell whether it's more of an open house or an actual interview day? The email was confusing... maybe we're doing group interviews?

Also, any opinions about ISU's program? I applied because it was one of the few funded PsyD programs listed in the Insider's Guide. I've been lurking on the thread for a while and haven't seen any mention of it.

Thanks for your help!

Their program looks good on paper. They didn't extend an offer to me, so I can't say more than that. A friend of mine got a master's degree there and said she got a good education there, the school was good, but the town was not so great. Being more of a big-city girl myself, she actually discouraged me from applying, but I wasn't going to rule out a funded program...turns out they ruled me out instead! Good luck!

Email 2/7 for an interview on 2/19 at Fordham for the PhD School Psych program
