Should I be concerned that I dont even have 1 interview yet? However, I have only 2 rejections thus far. Also just wanted to ask, how many applicants are currently
a: 3rd year residency applying?
b: doing or have done Chief year?
c: Hospitalist/year off for research etc?

I am in 3rd year and am starting to think that maybe my problem.

Umm, isn't everyone in 3rd year this cycle? I guess you mean completed 3rd yr,..

I am in that category, no chief yr, yr off working not research,....3iv (one from home prg)
One of my letter writers (who is very experienced in academics) did mention when I asked about having a year off, that it didnt make a big diff if I stayed in research or worked and as a first time applicant (vs being a reapplicant) I would not have any points off for applying later than others

There was a mix up with one of my letters so it showed up as blank. I had to have my letter writer send another one in.

Yea same here .. Only one day for interview: unfortunately im already committed at some other program for interview. Let's see what do they offer now..

Does anyone know if Univ of Buffalo has sent out all the interviews? I applied to almost all programs in PA and NY. I did not hear from any of the PA programs and most of the NY programs. I do not see those programs in the list above as well. 😕

No. I did not hear from any of them. I guess they already have their own internal candidates and not so worried about interviewing outside candidates!!

ERAS is not able to see who wrote your letter, but can tell you if your letter was uploaded sucessfully.

If programs are interviewing their own internal candidates, shouldnt they express this on their website? We are wasting $ and time 🙁 by applying to such programs.

I sincerely doubt programs are exclusively interviewing internal candidates (unless they only have 1 or 2 spots total to begin with). There are 8 internal candidates at my program for 4-5 slots in total. Despite all the internal applicants, many outside candidates on SDN have interviews at the program.

I have only 3 interviews. I am an American medical graduate. I have 1 published paper in a major GI journal, 1 published abstract, 1 abstract submitted for publication, and actively working on another research project. My step scores are not horrible. Step 1 - 226. Step 2 and 3 in the 230s. I have good letters from my academic university residency program (no big names though). I was told by GI folks at my residency program, that i would be a very competitive candidate for fellowship. I feel pretty disheartened because i expected to have more interviews. I applied to about 80 programs. If I don't hear from more programs this week, I think I'm going to start looking for hospitalist jobs. I need a backup plan.
