I thought you are supposed to send a thank you letter at the end or at least close to ranking time
This forum seems more active than mine....so heres a general question
How much value/importance do you give the reply to your thank you letters/lack thereof.
I know PDs are generally very busy and don't have time to respond, but does lack of response mean that you are at bottom of their rank list?
I was always told that programs usually give candidates that they are interested in a strong email about ranking them high so Im assuming a lack of response/or a generic "im glad you liked our program. safe travels" means they aren't interested.
Any thoughts?
Hey jdh, it was just IV#2 but after a whole sleep-deprived night when I heard that the 1st year fellows were on an average on Q3day overnight call on their ICU months, I wanted to scat! lol.Whoa. Yeah. I'd say skip the dinners if you're feeling fried. Get some sleep.
What interview number are you on?
Plus. No way in hell I'd want to do hospitalist work after doing what I'm doing now. I love my job.
I think it's the nice thing to do to write thank you emails and mention something/someone that you liked about the program/were interested in/clicked with/found similar interests with. Even if you get back a cold/no reply, it never hurts, and closer to RoL time I think it probably wouldn't hurt if you were better consolidated in their memory when you might write your 'rank me please' email. But that's just my $0.02Was wondering same thing with the generic replies to thank yous, anyone have any insight?
A question regarding match
My BF is currently applying for Pccm fellowship. He finished IM residency at a university program in the Midwest. He has done very little research and is not interested in heavy research programs.
In addition to his home program He has interviews at
Tufts
Loyola
Temple
Jefferson
I go to school in the east coast and we r hoping he would match into one in the east coast. Chicago is ok since there is good access to the city.
With the 4 interviews what r his chances
Thanks

A few New England programs are still deciding. They said they'd be releasing invites within the next few days.
UVM and MaineMed (just realized that's not on the list yet), both sent out invites a while ago.Just curious do you mean deciding on the second wave interviews or programs like Maine and Vermont that people haven't heard from yet?
OMG! izzat sum serious cash or wot!!!7 rejections, mostly from the list of program listed above. No interviews. 1 waiting list. In the mean time, got offered a job in Colarado, with a starting salary of half a million working 20 days a month. So now I am really thinking hard.
Dude money will come don't worry I know critical care physicians who work 12 shift make 400 plus Hospitalist in metropolitan areas make 300000 if you choose you job right and btw don't believe everything they offer those appear dream jobs always have a catch7 rejections, mostly from the list of program listed above. No interviews. 1 waiting list. In the mean time, got offered a job in Colarado, with a starting salary of half a million working 20 days a month. So now I am really thinking hard.

Side question here. Do you guys send thank you notes to everyone you interview with? How about the interviewers who do not give you their card? For example on my last interview there were 6 interviewers but I only got 4 cards.. Should I do some googling and find the rest? Or is it chill to just write to a select few (PD, chair, PC)?
No. Don't do that. Send the PD a polite short note if you really want to but to everyone is silly and unnecessary.
Thanks! I have a lot of respect for you and trust your judgement. If I google the subject it seems kind of mandatory to send letters to each and everyone and mustn't there be a reason so many of them hand out their cards? It's a bit confusing. Other opinions on this?
