Is there something special about Drexel I don't know about? Have a II coming up there in a few days.

The only things I've heard are: unhappy medical students, mildly impressed doctors ("ooh, drexel's a good school.")

I applied because: philly, stats, community based medicine, especially strong psychiatric hospital.

But for real...I'm sitting at a 68 and I've never been more scared. At least I've got some movement

Apparently number of schools doesnt matter after a certain point. I mean I applied to 23, and my application status has been put on blast mode pretty handily.

Yea, I guess thats true, but at like 20 schools... if you arent getting a single MD II yet, do you really think adding another couple of schools is gonna make a difference? (this is assuming you chose all the high priority schools in the 20 schools you already applied to)

Yeah.. I'm somewhat non-traditional, born and raised in the Midwest, and have worked in healthcare for 2 years a respiratory therapist (which I've heard mixed reviews about how helpful/hurtful that is to my application).

My personal statement was goofy but the interviewers I had at the U of M-Duluth ate it up so... here's to hoping that I'm at least a couple more people's cup of tea!

I figured one more school can't hurt. I ended up adding UChicago, months after pre-writing for their secondary and deciding not to add them. For a while now I've been interested in their program and how much they encourage interdisciplinary academic endeavors; what ultimately led me to not apply were my numbers. However, upon much pondering (and a second wind of confidence due to recent IIs), I figured I owe it to myself to see if my essays and my application as a whole can take me far. We'll see.

+1, felt this way about Cornell. Yesterday I decided to take a chance and see what became of it rather than dwell on it for however long.
I figure I'm pretty close to the timeline of the "average speed" applicants; let's see!

I was holding strong at 30 and then I got my first II at a surprisingly strong school and became briefly drunk with power.

I must have maxed out early...I had already done 31 secondaries by August....but thankfully have been resisting adding more schools by basically telling myself that applying now = fruitless because it's too late anyway!

Guys, my neuroticism has gone to an all-time high (okay..this probably also has something to do with having an interview tomorrow but still). I received an email from BU admissions and for a split second thought that they were going to be like "JK about your II. It was a wrong email"..turns out that they just wanted to invite me to a seminar after the interviews about the underserved areas of Boston and such.

I've started measuring all of my purchases in secondaries. I'm like, well, I didn't fill out x's secondary, so I can totally buy the calvin klein bag to match my interview shoes.... its only 1 secondary more than the cheaper version!

I maxed out my credit card through secondary applications alone. I was 3/4th finished paying for all of my secondaries when my card was declined. Died a little on the inside...

Its okay... I had to take out a loan just to pay for the primaries and preemptive secondaries so I feel your pain. Just think, in 9 months we'll be well on our way to 200k in debt! so whats a couple thousand in the grand scheme!

I opened a new VISA and a new AMEX specifically for this application cycle, hit both "spend this much and get a reward" signup bonuses in just over a month. Now I'm sitting on 85,000 free FF miles which equates to about 4-7 free round trip flights if I use them right. Figured if I'm gonna be paying an arm and a leg to get rejected from 20+ schools, might as well get something useful out of it hahaha

Wow - that's actually really smart. You can also used those flights when interview invites come in for additional savings. Kudos to you for thinking ahead my friend.

Immediately regret not applying to Emory..leh sigh. But I did apply to Tulane! Good luck the rest of the cycle!
