Keep in mind a lot of those "Accepted" statuses may be from DO acceptances, and anyone who is a borderline MD applicant (like a lot of people in this thread) could be accepted to a DO school but have chosen not to apply to osteopathic schools for whatever reason.

You are absolutely not a failure. I think the fact that we all have gotten to a point where we have applied to medical school says something about all of us. We have all worked extremely hard and we have all accomplished a lot. Don't sell yourself short, and don't let getting in or not define you.

I second this. Even if you don't get in this year, it's just a setback, not a failure. You'll get there in the end, I know it.
I think I've posted this quote on this thread before, but: "You're not late for anything. You aren't going to miss anything. You're exactly where you're supposed to be. And you're exactly who you're supposed to be." You've got many years ahead of you and plenty of time to get into medical school.
 
Was literally having THE WORST shift of my life tonight and happened to check my email to see if our new schedule had come out and there was an II sitting right there in my inbox 😍

It's been literally the toughest cycle, but I know from previous experience that incredible things have resulted from what seemed like the lowest of failures for me. With this chip on our shoulders, I truly believe we will all become even more amazing physicians. I saw this in another thread, but I wouldn't mind being the Tom Brady of med school (not a pats fan tho) 😉

Can't believe I still have about 20 schools still giving me the silent treatment. It's January already!!

Having only 2 II's makes this really nerve wracking. ;(

At this point it's probably safe to say that many of those schools may have silently rejected you, which is my thinking because I'm in the same boat as you 🙁 I've been put on hold at a lot of schools too... Are you on the CMS waitlist? I saw on a couple of school threads last year that there was a lot of movement at the end of January for interviews (schools I've applied to) and such though so I still have hope that I'll hear back from at least 1-2 schools.. maybe? Please? sob

I haven't heard back at all from CMS, EVMS, EVM, VCU, Tufts, Einstein, Virginia Tech, St. Louis, Jefferson, Albany, Penn State, Rush, Quinn, U. Cincinnati or Oakland. 🙁

I'm hoping that I'll get maybe 1 more II in early January but I don't really believe it will happen. Too lazy to go through each school's thread to check which of the above are likely silent rejections.

I think I've posted this somewhere before, but I'm gonna post it again. My favorite show of all time is the West Wing, and one of my favorite scenes is when two of the main characters encounter a man in the bar talking about sending his daughter to college:

"It should be hard. I like that it's hard...but it should be a little easier. Just a little bit easier. Because in that difference is...everything."

I feel the exact same way about this cycle.

I'm still waiting on Tufts and Albany too. Maybe there's something to be said for that?

Also waiting on VCU, Tufts, Einstein, Jeff, Albany, Penn, Rush. Only heard from CMS (rejection). All complete from late Aug to Sept. Except for Penn (10/23 lol) and Einstein that gave me a complete date 2+ months (nov) after turning secondary in.
 
I'm not waiting for 20 schools, but it's still unnerving waiting for as many as I am. Einstein, Dartmouth, Oakland, Rosalind Franklin, Jefferson, Virginia, Washington and Yale have been quiet up til now. 🙁

this really stinks 🙁

its good that Jefferson has been quiet! It means they may be considering you. Jefferson rejected me, so remember no news is good news!

this is my third cycle applying and I totally feel you. I really worked hard to improve my application and the fact I still don't have a single interview invite hurts so badly but I can't and refuse to give up - I want this so badly. I just wish one, literally one school would see that, interview me, and accept me!

oh I am sorry, it wasn't nine in one day. I have nine overall.

undergrad GPA was low, but masters gpa was 3.7 for science, mcat was 503 (I know that's pretty eh but I had hoped my experience and gpa would offset it)

I applied to DO once but it was really late in my previous cycle and it was without my masters program and I had a low MCAT (due to medical issues). Hence why I retook the MCAT and did a masters program. Literally just waiting now, and I am wondering if I should add more DO schools (can you do that after you submit your DO app?)
 
I saw people with my stats getting MD interviews, so I am kind of surprised that I am not even receiving one but I am totally fine with DO cuz at the end of the day I'll be a doctor, and that's all I want to be, especially after three cycles of this agony!
