**Official 2021 Periodontics PASS/Interviews/Match**

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You're welcome to apply to the handful whose deadline hasn't passed but a) its an incredibly competitive year due to the pandemic and b) at least three programs whose deadline haven't passed have sent out interviews so you may be wasting your money.

I guess ask yourself if you're remotely picky about the program and if not, make a last ditch effort but if you're trying to get into a quality program, you may want to apply next year.

can you please share about the three programs that you mentioned that have sent the interviews already but their deadlines haven't passed?

Has anyone gotten a denial from A&M or know if they’ve been sent? I know some interview requests were sent but didn’t know if they also sent denials

Yes there's extra things you need to send and also they've already sent out their invitations.

Hey man do mind sharing some of of the extra things you need to send? I tried contacting the director and haven’t gotten at email back so I really don’t know who to contact.

Thank you and good luck!! Wish you all the best

I think you're talking about A&M. Nothing else you need in addition to PASS. If you have GRE score, then just request GRE score to be submitted directly to PASS.

I think there is no supplemental application for A&M.
They have mentioned nothing for that on website and i think information on the PASS website for A&M regarding supplemental application is outdated.

Do you think A&M is going to send another round of invitation or are they done?
also, anyone heard from Florida + UPenn + NCChapel Hill + NYU?

I'm not sure if programs will have multiple rounds of invites this time- given it's over zoom. Correct me if I'm wrong though. They could easily accommodate everyone in one zoom call so I'm not sure they'd go through the process multiple times. Disheartening thought but may be true

Thank you! I appreciate you answering!

I think in PASS they are just asking to enter GRE score. There is no detail on how to submit official GRE score.

Okay cool that's what I thought also. Thank you for clarifying!

Would you be kind and share your interview experience once you are done with it? Good luck.
Interview process was actually more pleasant and relaxing(?) than what I had imagined. Applicants were given multiple Zoom links and individualized schedules so you just had to join the meeting on time. I got the typical "Why perio", "Why our program", "Where do you see yourself in 10 years" type of questions but also fun questions like "What would you take to a deserted island" haha. Most of them just wanted to get to know you and your interests, both personal and professional. They also did a tour of the clinic and a virtual happy hour! Let me know if you have any questions and good luck!

Thank you so much for your response. I really appreciate a lot.
How many interviewers were at the same time? Did you talk to one for 15-20 minutes and then you change the number and you talk to other, or they are all sitting together and questioning you?

One faculty at a time except for the one with the residents where they sat together and went around asking questions. Each one was about 25-30 minutes! They had sent all the meeting IDs prior to the date so you just had to join the right one on time. They had a "waiting room" setup where the host has to let you in to prevent interruption with ongoing interviews.

Congrats on your interview!

They told me they may open up another date when I requested to interview on another day, but as of right now they only have the one session.

Interviews to A&M, OU, and San Antonio so far

when was San Antonio?

University of Michigan sent out an invite this morning... The interview is going to be held over Zoom.
Would you be kind to share your experience after your interview? What did they ask, how many candidates, any pieces of information would be more than appreciate?
Thanks in advance.

I also received an invitation from University of Buffalo to a personal interview via Zoom and it was on the same mentioned date. I would like to ask, after that, did you receive an acceptance or rejection e-mail ?
I hope you will inform me of any e-mail that you receive from them because I do not want to be attached to a hope that does not exist. Thank you a lot.
Can you share your interview experience, please?
Thank you.

Yes, it was panel style and they asked why perio, why this program, what has prepared you for this thus far, why should we pick you, tell me about your research, what are your interests? Very generic questions, but a lot of them within the 30 minute timeframe. It was conversational with some faculty and more Q&A style with others. Overall, not as stressful as I thought it would be.
