Quick question, what is a course certificate (as seen on the AACOMAS in the section where you enter your courses)? Is it like an unofficial transcript that I have to upload? If not, how do I obtain a course certificate? Do I need to upload one? Thanks in advance!

Hello all,

I just became aware of an error that was made during the verification process to my application but I have already submitted it to several schools. The issue is that my english credit hours were totaled incorrectly despite both of my english courses being entered and appearing correctly in my application. Thus, it states that in the english subject I have 3 credit hours when I have 6. I opened up a ticket with AACOMAS but I was curious if anyone had any insight into the process of having something like this rectified (how long, does my app need to go back into verification, does it auto transmit to schools after changed etc.)

Will be calling AACOMAS tomorrow. Thanks!

Sorry, I know I just asked a question, and this probably sounds really dumb...but on aacomas achievement section, what is the difference between an award and an honors? Is Honors just recognition?
Like, to use an example everyone would understand:
Being Placed on the Dean's List: Would that be an honors or an award?
Sorry, again, I know it sounds super dumb, but better safe than sorry, ya' know? Because I have several items to list and no clue as to how to list them. ;==;

Not sure if this is what you meant by opening up a ticket with AACOMAS, but have you tried emailing them at [email protected]. I would email them today or tomorrow, or call them on Wednesday (after holidays).
It shouldn't be that big of an issue, but the later you wait the more difficult it probably becomes. They're probably still verifying it now, so I think you don't have to worry about it. That being said, I have no personal experience with this subject. So hopefully someone else can offer you some assurance.
Hope you're able to fix it!

Is AACOMAS taking a REALLY long time to verify anyone else's MCAT scores? It's been four weeks since I first sent mine electronically from AAMC and I've sent it a couple more times since then, but nothing's been updated. I'm getting DO secondaries now though so I'm not sure if that means they already were verified...

Through AACOMAS, letters can be added after primary submission and schools can be added after primary submission just as with AMCAS, correct? I'm fine with figuring out the logistics of letter submission later just wanted to know if I was good to go ahead and submit the primary without all of that like AMCAS or no?

I don't think there are any DO schools that send out secondaries without an MCAT score so it must mean that it was verified.

Hey all,
I was just wondering what you guys would suggest I do. I don't know if I'm just being neurotic. I recently got a clinical paid position that starts in 5 days. If I apply now, is it possible to include this under my work experiences or should I wait 5 days. I don't know how much of an impact this would have. Thanks everyone.

Also, is it possible to add a letter from interfolio to aacomas after submitting the primary? Would it delay anything and will all the schools be updated or do I have to send the LOR directly to schools after I submit the primary?

Wondering same thing!

It just came to my attention that we have to send our MCAT score to AACOMAS? Can someone verify that this is true and how we go about in sending our scores? Thank you!

If I submitted a LOR to AACOMAS after having submitted my primary, will AACOMAS automatically send it to all my schools? AACOMAS received the letter but I'm checking my status on school's portals and it looks like that letter hasn't been sent to them.. Does it just take some time for AACOMAS to send the additional letter of rec to my school or does AACOMAS not do this after having submitted the primary app and should I be submitting LOR's to each school individually now?
THANKS! :)

If I send a letter request to one of my evaluators and write "this is the letter request for my AACOMAS or Osteopathic school application," would schools be able to see that? I'm applying to both DO and MD and was wondering if they see that then schools might throw out my application. I know it sounds dumb but I don't want this to hurt my chances of being a doctor.

I forgot to add my shadowing hours for the D.O. physician that gave me my LOR. What should I do?
Can i just add another experience for AACOMAS and list it there? I have an experience listed as "physician shadowing" but i cannot edit it.
AACOMAS does let me add additional experiences.

Yeah just add it as a new experience!

Can I add an LOR to my application after my primaries have been sent? I'm asking this because my weakest letter is my non-science letter and I really only want to send it to schools that require it (NOVA is the only one on my list). Unfortunately, NOVA only allows letters to be sent through AACOMAS so I can't just send that single letter via Interfolio. If I send out all my primaries, can I add the non-science letter afterwards and then send a single primary to NOVA? My goal is to have my non-science letter only go to NOVA.

I made a mistake on my app by saying I have associates degree when I actually graduated with BS degree. Is there a way to change this? Or shoud I notify each and every school that I made a mistake?

I have a multimedia class to enter for transcript entry but I do not know what to classify it as. The class is under computer information & office systems.

Will I only receive II's once my MCAT is sent to the individual schools?

So on AACOMAS I am able to submit on 12/16. How do I figure out the reason I can't apply for last 4? All I'm missing is my LOR which is on interfolio and I paid for transcript processing which isn't completed yet.

Usually that means you don't have a section filled out. Did you make sure the "Questions" tab was answered and everything?

I just noticed that two of my chemistry classes were counted as "Qualitative Analysis" instead of "Inorganic Chemistry" and that two of my lab courses were labeled as "Lecture Only". How big of an issue do you think this will be? Do the schools carefully look at the courses I've taken to make sure I meet the requirements, despite a possible mislabeling done by AACOMAS?

Did you answer all of the essays/questions? I was confused by this too when submitting for KCOM but I had to answer the question about which campus I preferred (even though I selected "no preference")

can you add an MCAT score after you submit an app. Looking to get verified by just sending one application and then adding my MCAT when i get it Aug 1st. Anybody know anything about this? Also how do you add the score after if its possible. Thanks

Hello all. I'm applying this cycle (2017-2018) to 13 MD schools, and 4 DO. UNECOM's primary app asks you to write the number of osteopathic schools to which you're applying and the number of allopathic. They have no way of knowing, so should I just lie and write 0 MD schools? Obviously if I tell the truth it looks like DO is more of a backup. Any advice or experience with this app is appreciated.

I would be honest. The school probably knows that applicants are suspecting what you are suspecting. If you are an applicant they would typically grant an interview (stats-wise and essays-wise), they probably still will, but they will most likely ask about your intentions during your interview. So make sure you have good/true reasons for becoming a DO if it came down to it!

Asking for a re-applicant who took the old MCAT around August 2014. About 12 DO schools will accept her old MCAT. There are some schools that require the new MCAT. My question is can she submit her AACOMAS application with her current MCAT to the 12 schools that do accept her current MCAT score that way she can get secondaries from those schools. Then can she take the new MCAT in August, add the additional schools she will then be eligible for, and basically be complete in September. I'm just wondering if this is possible. I know on AMCAS application you have to specify if you are taking a future MCAT. Does the DO application have a similar requirement?

Hey there!
I submitted my primary app in the end of June and all of the materials- Mcat, letters, transcripts- by July 1. Most schools have a little green "verified" next to the school name, but three schools still say "in progress." I checked online and this means the schools are still waiting for the materials to be sent from Aacomas. Is it normal for this to take so long? I'm probably being paranoid, but I know that one of the schools is already sending out IIs. Should I contact the schools or aacomas to make sure everything is in order? I've received secondaries from almost every school that has sent them out except these three.

Odd question but can you only submit one MCAT score, or would you have to submit both? (2-time taker here). I have both in the app already but I see a trash can next to both score sets... I am tempted on the lower score... LOL

Hey guys, I put in my future classes that I'll be starting in the fall at a school that I've never attended before and after submitting it says it is waiting for a transcript from there. Does anyone know what I should do about this?

I got my USA citizenship today Do I need to inform AACOMS and will it make any difference

Anyone else submitted in July with the professional transcript entry service and just wishing that they typed in the darn thing cause its taking forever to get verified?

I don't receive my MCAT score until September 19, should I go ahead and get verified to one school like LUCOM before my MCAT score comes in? Just get my transcripts+letters in before the MCAT? I don't want to submit and have them auto-reject me.

So I feel foolish for selecting the professional transcript entry... has anyone else used it? If so, about how long did it take for it to be completed?

How strict is AACOMAS with their classification of 'other science?' Like has anyone thought for sure their class would count as science, but then verified and switched into non-science or behavioral science? I have my fall planned out, but I want to add one more class and I think this would count as other science under Health, Health Science, Health Services, Health Technology. Would the class 'Intro to Healthcare Vocab' under Health Professions Education count as other science then?

When I got my app verified, Atleast 8 of my classes were recatagorized. I classified trig in mathmatics and they changed it to trig so they do seem to go over your app with a fine tooth comb. Also, I have a physics class called statics that I listed as engineering. They changed it to "statistics" lol.

Oh wow they seem pretty strict but do you think the class I listed would go under other science for health? I mean it has 'health' in the class name and department so I would think it would be safe? Trying to justify in my head whether or not to spend $600 for this class lol.

I have no idea. They have so many class categories that its tough to figure out which one they want.

It took about 10 days for me plus 3 to fix mistakes they made. I was just able to submit for real today. If you can fill it out yourself I would. I thought the submission process started after I submitted 2 weeks ago but you have to match pre-requisites to individual universities and check over their work. I feel stupid for selecting this as it basically delayed my application.
lolololol they put my gen chem lab as 14 credit hours. Hopefully they get back to me soon.

One of my letters on AACOMAS says I did not waive the right to see it and my GPA just got verified. Too late to call aacomas tmr? I can't imagine I would have not waived that right. Could this maybe be on the prof's end? Will this reflect very negatively on my app? It's my second science prof, one of five letters I have uploaded. Worst part is I can't even read the letter on the site right now.

So I got verified already. Wow, took one day. Maybe the processing didn't delay applications. It took 1 day.
Everything was finally fixed and it says theyre verifying my transcripts today after a long call yesterday. Hopefully its done soon and we get some secondaries rolling in!

I am filling out AACOMAS and under the program materials section each school asks us to fill out the Prerequisite coursework...each has a minimum hours and grades but does not specify if we must enter all coursework or all attempts. I am a non traditional student and retook several prerequisite courses that were over a decade old. I am not sure if I can just enter the most recent attempts that satisfy the prerecs as I have already entered all my coursework under my academic history section, thus schools will see my complete transcripts. I would think it redundant to have to enter all coursework again under this tab. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I contacted the AACOMAS Application Questions line today, and the person I spoke with recommended that all coursework that matches the prerequisite criteria be included. Though, it is not absolutely necessary since they will see your entire transcript upon review. From what I gathered, adding courses at that point in the application is only to ensure that the applicant has met the necessary, minimum coursework requirements.
