Official ABIM Exam/study tools thread!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Got mine ~750am. Also dated to 10/5 (what the heck). Average resident. Bombed all the ITEs bc i was always in a hurry to move on, but figured I'd be okay as long as I studied as I did well on steps. Did MKSAP X1 and then repeated cards and GI bc they're my weak links. Basically rewrote board basics and added notes in as I did MKSAP. Knew those notes well. Passed comfortably. Most of my fellow residents don't have their scores back yet, including people I KNOW will pass. There is hope, y'all. (Texas)

Just wanted to put a plug in for chilling out if you went to a very strong program. You can look up the pass rates of your institution which are >97% for most top programs. I never did an ITE, never read MKSAP and did ~1/3 of the MKSAP questions while starting a busy fellowship. Passed comfortably above the mean. Many of my coresidents have similar stories. YMMY and I dont want to flame anyone who did poorly on the exam--but if you have a track record of doing well on the step exams and go to a solid program, dont sweat this one.

Still waiting, this is killing me

Any one from 10/17 test date got their scores?

i know 1 individual from 8/17 that got their score back

Officially feel like I failed...are there still a lot of people still waiting for scores?

still waiting .. I have a feeling that they are releasing results based on score. The people who are getting results later have scored better than people who got their results earlier from my observation... I hope that is true.

I am not sure this is true as some already received a non-passing score..

does any one knows some one who received the score today and failed ?

My friend did but another friend got it today and passed. Honestly I don't think the release of results has anything to do with score mark, last name or region. It may have to do with our NPI or ABIM number.

I had similar experience last year, Where I heard results at the end, all my friends have received earlier than me. I have Failed. Tat's why I am having PTSD this year as my results get delayed. It may not be the same with everyone.I am talking about my experience. Process is random, even some merit students didn't get results.

Well that doesn't inspire confidence....

No, its not about building confidence or inspiring some one, I am sharing my experience. That is what giving me PTSD. you can imagine what I must have going through.

I think it's still too early to freak out. It seems like most people have not received results yet. 0% of my fellowship class has received their results.

Yeah I don't think we should freak out just yet.

Including myself, I know of a few people who have not received their scores yet. With that and the people on this forum who have not received it, I doubt we all failed.

With all that being said, I'm still freaking out lol

Certification site collapsed. It's not working..

I just called and was told to expect the roll-out through Friday. When I cited the person that was told 48 hours, she said that was incorrect, and they have been told through Friday. She said it's possible that was told earlier, and that they had to even put a message on the phone system today so that people would be aware it could be the whole week. I even tried to ask if there was a pattern to it (I should know better, but worth a try lol) and she said no. This is so absurd

Great... so. First, it’s within 24 hrs. Then 48 hrs and now days. Guess, all that money is going to a new condo (they had an old one in phili that they sold after being outted) instead of updating technology.

Now the certification site is not working too. Must be their plan too.. Must have stopped the server. So that we cant check anyone

I was the one who called earlier and the guy told we a window of 48 hours and that it was random. No pattern whatsoever he told me.

Took test 8/17, just got email 3:50 pm. Passed... thank god....was sure that I failed leaving the test and was depressed the whole week afterwards. Score was smack dab at median and I know I could have done a better job preparing but now just so relieved!!!

omg i keep getting random spam emails and I keep thinking that its the ABIM one. I've officially lost it :scared::scared::scared::scared::scared:

As stated a billion times, I have to say this is really ridiculous. I can possibly see why they can't upload everyone's results at once, but it should be able to happen over 24 hours. If they really can't handle releasing results over 24 hours, they seriously need to update their servers.

Finally got my email at 5:12PM EST; took mine on 8/16 and I passed! It was such a long wait.. best of luck everyone!

My experience: Average resident from poorly regarded program in the Midwest. Board failure rate high at our program with 1/3 failing last year. I prepared with Board Basics x 2 (most high yield tool), UWorld, MKSAP. Exam date: 8/17. Was sweating bullets for 24 hours because all my co-fellows had already been certified, score report @ 3:50pm. Passed with score 620. There's hope for anybody!

I cannot take it anymore...
Congratulations to all those who have passed and can celebrate.
