In the continuing spirit of the tradition started last year, we will hold this as your official countdown til score release thread. You can use this as a countdown, but may also post in here general conversation if you are just going insane over this wait. Also, this may not be an exact of when the scores will come out, but we don't know how many days before the official 60 days are over they will come out. Last year, they came out around June 15th at 10pm. But this will give us a rough approximation.

Ok, let the fun begin.........

59 days and counting........

Lets pray for all of you and for my very best roommate, and two of my other bestest friends. 😀 May all come with good news in the following two months.

This is for the neurotic ones who just need somewhere to vent their frustration over the wait. 😛

Its funny because there was a question in a passage on the MCAT on form BG that actually had an answer choice that described what an epitope was....

I had the form AN so.. i think they touched on the topic in a FS questions.. not matter what it sucked..

SUCKED>> but you guys are so funny! i love this post it cracks me up everytime i read new stuff.

do you think accountants, education , or sociology majors bitch that much about anything?

I think we have them all beat!! when a friend complains to me about putting A POSTER togather for 4th graders and she is STRESSING :scared: OVER IT! i say please!!

they are just as crucial to society but give me a break and dont tell me that it's stressful to put scraps togather!! ha!!

You guys, thinking about it might only make it worse. Changing the subject from this talk about immunology questions, have any of you started your AMCAS??? Just curious.
right now:
5 finals, 3 papers...leaving the country May 14th. I will start when I return. Oh dear, I hope the scores will not be a shock. reading the responses on epitope reminded me of how deranged and tired I was by that section. I think my form had a pretty tought bio section to say the least.

gujuDoc said:
Nah just lucky that they don't have to refill everything out since it was saved into the AMCAS system. My former roommate had the same thing happen when he had to reapply. He didn't need to refill all the info out again, just minor changes like if his number changed or changes in his personal statement.

Most of AMCAS, out of the personal statement and activities section is tedious busy work. I like to think of it as the longest and most expensive resume you'll ever make.
wow, so true! it's ridiculously intensive. congrats to all those gunners on here like dr vannostran and oxeye who finished already! 😀

i started it, but the stuff i had accidentally entered on the 2006 app DIDN'T show up. hmm. i used the same login name and everything!

It only carries over for reapplicants who have submitted the application in the previous cycle or in a previous cycle that was pretty recent. If you started filling out the old one and then need to fill out the new one, but never submitted the old one, it won't carry over. That was the case for my roommate.

I was a psyc major. Trust me: we have just as much to stress about and we do. I remember one term I had 5 - count 'em FIVE - term papers over 10 pages and one was 25 pages to turn in. Yeah, that semester SUCKED.

Haha Im not really a gunner, I just had to make sure everything was in order and enter in this years grades. I have been working on my Personal Statement for sometime, but thats about it. I'm about to start cracking on TMDSAS just in case I get the score I want hehe.

Hehe I swear 😍

I would love love to go to either UT Houston or Baylor. I am in love with Houston. Texas is definitely a place where I want to live in the future 😍

Dude - you know you rocked that beast! Maybe I'll run into you at the Houston or Baylor interview...

Here's hoping. 😍

I haven't even thought about what to write for my personal statement....and I probably won't submit my AMCAS until around mid-July or so.

i had to submit a preliminary version of my personal statement to my premed advising office as a part of the application for the composite LOR they send to med schools. i am going to work on it over the next few weeks. since i'm applying md/phd, i also have to write the md/phd and sig. research experiences essay. i'm still not entirely sure if my PS needs to be solely about medicine or if it can include mention about my desire to be a physician scientist. i think i'll post in the md/phd forum and ask some previous applicants.

I'm sure you did great!!!! Everyone on here rocks just putting all the study time and taking it. But I'm sure you all will get good scores. Keep it up!!!

My TMDSAS and AMCAS are almost done except for the PS. I've been brainstorming since the MCAT (jotting down every thought that came to my head.) I made a pretty good outline and picked a theme early this week, so I think I'm going to try to get my first draft done tonight or tomorrow.

Then, it'll be revise, revise, revise.

Also, it seems like TMDSAS has two other "mini essays" (about half the length of the PS) that I'll have to figure out a strategy for.....

My wife and I have already agreed that we are going on a long expensive trip when this whole application process is over. (In July?)

.....but then again, I heard that some TX schools have interview invites as early as July! Arrrrgh!

More like May for the stellar applicants. They tend to get acceptances quicker and easier for obvious reasons.

I'd go to somewhere like Europe if you've never been there. Its gorgeous and a lot of fun. That's what a lot of people from this past year's cycle (on SDN) are doing for summer. Makes me jealous cuz I want to go Greece and Spain and other parts of Italy that I haven't been to. 😛

First off...we are in the 40s!!!! 49 days to go!!!

thanks for keeping up with the number of days left. That was supposed to be my job but I've been trying to do some more important things like getting through my last 2 finals today.

On a side note, glad that's over with.

My roommate and one of my best friend's took the MCAT this past April. My roomie will be coming back from viet nam, just in time to get her scores in mid June, just as the other friend waiting for scores will be leaving to India right around time score release occurs.

this is probably silly to say but....

the fact that the April 2006 Score Release thread is now at page 13 is why i love this site and you people. seriously. good luck everyone.

haha, not silly to say at all...so true!! 😀
i remember the same thing happening last august. i think we've all just been so stressed out. it's nice to be able to talk to people who went through the same thing.

This is why I created the thread and had it stickied. It always provides an outlet by talking it out with people who are going through the same feeling as you are.

48 DAYS!!!!!!!

Once your finals are over with, you will be the count master once again 😀

Where in India is your freind going, I MIGHT be headed for Dehli this June for a month.

LOL we will be to busy refreshing the Thx every other minute to see if the scores loaded. I think I might take a different approach this year. I might head out to the beach and just have a friend check for me. That way if its a good score Im at my favorite spot, if its a bad score, they won't find my body for a while  Just kidding.

Banglore or Manglore area. She's from around there, but she's got tons of Pakistani friends and wants to eventually go up to Pakistan though not this summer.

Another friend of mine is going to Pakistan in the summer.

But most of the people I know went to India in December instead.

Its going to be as crowded as it was the day of the test and few days following.

😱 Just imagine how stressed we are going to be the day before the score release. I'm looking forward to July!

But then in July everyone will be looking forward to stressing out over secondaries. Of course for you, I guess it won't make a difference since you are doing EDP. But its just the beginning for most. The fun has just begun.

i think the fact that i'm not in school will be a huge help to my stress levels. i'll still get stressed, but at least i don't have the added stress of grades and exams. i don't know how ppl who go straight through can do it without pulling out lots of hair! :O

Yes, that is going to be a huge plus for me! Of course, putting everything on one school might be more nerve-wracking than filling out a bunch of extra secondaries and doing more interviews.

But at least it is less work!

I agree...I definitely could not have handled pre-med as an undergrad. I think I would've had a nervous breakdown

In the 2005 entering class cycle, a friend of mine applied extremely late and with a 28 3.9 and nontrad who'd done medical mission work overseas. She got a really late interview and got in right away. it was the only school she applied to, for the same reasons you are applying to the school you are at. her house was like 10 minutes down the road at most.

She's now finishing her first year of medical school.

If you have friendly Adcom directors there, I'd talk with them just to make sure you have everything on track.

Because of my husband's job I basically have to end up in med school in Chicago. Should I let the adcoms know about my family situation?

I do have other options ( he can transfer to another office etc.) but our 1st choice is to end up in Chicago...

With out a doubt contact the admissions director for each school in Chicago. If you can arrange a meeting before hand. Off hand you should contact:

Rush: Jan Schmidt
UIC: Susan Stuecheli?
Loyola: Ladonna Nordstrom?
RFU: Mary Ann Decaire

SIU, U of C, NU: Not sure

Call every school and if there is one particular school that you love, talk to them about an EDP application. Once again, I'd strongly strongly suggest you contacting the Chicago schools, they will more than welcome to talk to you.

Good Luck :luck:

I really want to go to Pakistan soon, I hear some parts are simply amazing. If all works out with this whole admissions thing, I hope to spend my last break before medical school traveling India and learning the history and culture more in depth. {sigh}---48 days......

Oh nice I didn't know you were applying EDP. I am strongly considering it as well at RFU, I haven't decided yet--probably will in 2 weeks after I meet with them :scared: :scared:

I just finished some extended shadowing of an OB/Gyn and I'm going to start at the VA hospital in a week or so. My friend who works there (and has been very helpful in getting me volunteer positions), told me that several members of the adcomm work there so I'm looking forward to that. 👍 She's talked about me a lot to them already as well so I'm pretty sure they will recognize my name when I apply.

I should call the office and see if I can set up an appointment to talk to someone just to make sure I'm not missing something.

I'm not an IL resident so I think it will be really hard for me to be accepted to Rush or UIC. So much is resting on my MCAT score!!!

Where is North Chicago (RFU)?

Yup, it's really my best option - the only option to keep my family together anyway. My husband has a well established business here and if he moved it would take probably 3-4 years to build up the same volume of clients as he has here. It would be financial suicide to do this before I have an income. I don't want to support a family of 4 on student loans. 😱 We'll be able to relocate for my residency because at that point I will have an income - not a great one, but we'd be able to manage on that alone.

Plus the medical school is a 5 minute drive from my house. And I don't want to move yet. I love my house! It was brand new when we bought it and I picked everything in it. I'll be so sad when I do have to leave it for residency.

Why RFU and not one of the other Chi town schools that are closer to the vicinity of actual Chicago area??? I'm asking cuz I've heard RFU is way out in the boonies.

As a non-resident it will be hard, but under your circumstances I would think you would be considered differently. Traveling to Chicago to meet adcoms might be a pain, so definitely set up a phone meeting.

RFU is in North Chicago, which is actually a suburb, its not really "North Chicago" which would be Lincoln Park, Wrigleyville etc. North Chicago/RFU is about 35-45 min north of the city, If you are familiar with chicago you take 94 West/Indiana from the City to get their. Its a really nice place, its next to Lake Forest which is one of Chicagos Elite Suburbs, but unfortunately a little south of Waukegan, one of Chicagos dwindling suburbs.

Wow that is definetly a reason to apply EDP. I really hope you get in. This process is cruel I hope its a lot more friendly to you 😍

Lol yeah it is definitely a hike from the city to RFU. I actually go up their every week to visit freinds and love the school. I also have some family members who graduated from their, my brother and brother-in-law and both of them were in love with the school.

RFU doesnt have a great rep here in Chicago and elsewhere, but to me its one the best schools, I guess Im bias 🙄

One more note on Kaplan: I appreciated all the review and advice on the material, but advising drinking Gatorade between tests...not such a great idea. I had to go halfway through one of the exams and, of course, the proctors were -ever...so...slow- in collecting and counting exams :scared: . I thought I was going to pee myself. Thanks Kaplan! Any idea on whether they would reimburse me for a new pair of pants?
