***Official April 2006 Score Release Countdown Thread***

In the continuing spirit of the tradition started last year, we will hold this as your official countdown til score release thread. You can use this as a countdown, but may also post in here general conversation if you are just going insane over this wait. Also, this may not be an exact of when the scores will come out, but we don't know how many days before the official 60 days are over they will come out. Last year, they came out around June 15th at 10pm. But this will give us a rough approximation.

Lets pray for all of you and for my very best roommate, and two of my other bestest friends. 😀 May all come with good news in the following two months.

This is for the neurotic ones who just need somewhere to vent their frustration over the wait. 😛

Salutations and welcome to SDN. Two things:

1) Check out the non-trad forum if you haven't already. There are a bunch of us who are PhDs in med school (along with one resident named njbmd), and we've been in your shoes. You'll find several threads discussing issues pertaining to PhD applicants there.

2) Being a PhD doesn't get you special consideration. Sorry. You still need to do well on the MCAT and have good UG grades just like everyone else. What do you mean by "decentish to okay" UG grades? If you're sub 3.5, your grades are below the avg. for allopathic matriculants, but you can still counter that with strong MCAT scores, grad grades, ECs, and LORs. If you're sub 3.0, you might need to do a post bac to get yourself up above 3.0 so that you don't get screened out pre-secondary. Seriously. CA schools are notoriously difficult to get into. You might try PMing a user named relentless11; he's a grad student in CA who is taking UG courses as a grad student to try to get himself up above that 3.0. He posts pretty often in the non-trad forum. pseudoknot is another PhD applicant from CA who's now an M1, and you might try talking to him also.

Oh and for the record our scores came out in paper nearly a week after it came out online, so it isn't too ridiculous a notion.

Posting that the scores are up when they are not is soooo not cool!!! You are messing with the fragile psyches of neurotic premeds here! People are going to log in here tomorrow, scroll down the thread, see those big red letters, and start to freak out (I know my heart skipped a beat, even though I knew better).
I really can't take this anymore...I wish I'd never told so many people I was worried and waiting for my scores, they keep asking if I've gotten them yet...and here's the problem...I dont want to tell them anymore!!!! I'm goiing to find it really humiliating if instead of being able to say, "Yeah, I did well" I have to say, "I did horrible: I have to retake it" Nooo!! Also, the more I think about it, I dont know how I'm going to bring myself to actually look at the score page! I know I won't want other people around, and I dont think I'm going to call anyone up before I look, either...I want to have ample alone time to comfort my bruised ego and broken heart in private....just me and my bottle of rum...Let the insanity end!!!

Congrats on coming out. Though I have to warn you that SDN is totally addictive. Lol thats some serious psychological issues that AAMC has put you through. I think if we relax, things will work out for the best 🙂 After all, doctors need to be calm even in the most dire of situations. here's to karma!

I love reds too. Chianti is my favorite. I just tried Zinfindal (spelling?) for the first time last weekend and loved it as well. I tried Cabernet once and wasn't that big of a fan. I like my wine to be dry and that wasn't at all. I think that was the kind.

I've never really had white wine, but I like blushes as well. White Zinfindal is my favorite, but I really want to try some White Merlot.

I've never been a big wine person but I discovered recently that I'm nuts for Rieslings and Pinot Grigio. I'm not a fan of reds. When we did a wine tasting I kinda spit out a merlot and the teacher decided no more reds for me.

I have been told this in person by the MCAT office several times. Im as anxious as you are believe me, and will be checking every half hour until these damn scores are out!

True; you'll only have to wait 30 days for your scores instead of 60 and there will be multiple dates upon which you can take the test.

I definitely have my hopes up for today or tomorrow but I keep debating with myself how much of that is realistic chance of release and how much is wishful thinking on my part. It does seem strange that they would list the 20th with the intention of releasing sooner... But the number of different responses people on this board have gotten when they called suggests that they aren't the best organized company ever.
