barring my cousin getting into case dental, i want to live in a double or something at the triangle or waldorf, preerably with a classmate. I wont be able to committ until july though. keep me in mind!

How is parking on campus? (sorry if this was answered by someone already).
I remember the parking garage across the street from the med school (by the gym), but where can medstudents park if we live off campus? How difficult is it to find parking (how much time on ave), and how many hoops do we have to jump through to get it?

(on a side note to my question, I was looking at the prices and kinda thinking/dreaming about a 3 bedroom house with 2-car garage all to my self 😀). Looked like you can get that for the same price as my old 1 bedroom apt here in SoCal 🙁 ... Or maybe the ones I saw on the net were dumps.

I indeed like the houses in Ohio much better than in Boston, Chicago, and SF! Most of the houses you see on the net are not dumps at all! Many of them have beautiful hardwood floors, 3+ bedrooms, 2-car garages! (I've been looking for an inexpensive one myself...) Many young people own 3-br homes in Ohio! I prefer Cleveland than most of other more popular cities, because I want to move in a big house once I start working! I want to feel happy and relaxed in my own house with a beautiful yard after working so hard every day!

One of my friends in Boston (almost 40 yr old man) showed me a picuture he shot himself in a spooky house, I thought he was shooting a funny picture in a horrible abandoned house and I even told him so, and I was so embarassed when he told me it was his new home - his 1st home that used up all his savings and he had to work year after year to fix it! He worked at Harvard... I felt so sad for him. And his car was so broken ... So sad. I do think people's living standard in Cleveland area is better than in Boston, SF, etc. I'm not a material person, but I often was amazed at seeing all the good cars proudly driven around in Cleveland suburbs, I never saw so many Jaguars, Porsche, BMW, and Mecedes so frequently in Boston or Chicago. In my small community, a few hummers are parked in the garage driveway because they are too big for the garage, that's a bit sad too. I'm a little afraid of hummers, don't know why, just don't like to see them in a peaceful and lovely suburb...

parking's about $60 a month, on campus. also, there may be some other lots around in little Italy within walking distance that are cheaper.

Is anyone else freaked out about the price tag at Case. I'm trying to decide between case and Wayne State my state school. For me the only thing that's really holding me back from going to Case is the price. Is anyone else in a similar situation and going to case next year? I just don't know if it's worth all that money.

I chose case over osu, and my state school (a version of it). I thought it was worth it. After all, you'll more than make it back.

I second exmike. Don't let money issue keep you from going to a great school. I do think there's a pretty big gap between Case and Wayne State...

how much would you spend on a house? as an investment, you're education will bring a much greater return than a house, so it's not unreasonable to spend as much on it as you would a house.

When did you send in your fin. app? I got mine yesterday, and when I checked my dates, I found that I sent mine in on 4/17, and I corrected my FAFSA numbers right before that.

I'm wondering (I don't expect to get any grants due to past work) if you get something like 14k for the first year, are you assured of that the following years? Or could they say $0 grant for 2-4?

my family contribution is $9k (that's better than I thought it would be).
It said if I needed more I could add to the unsubsidized.
Then it said I could only take $30k in unsub... which is what they offered anyway. Go fig.
Looks like I'll need to find alternate loans.

I am withdrawing from Case, so hopefully my grant money will go to someone else. Case is a wonderful school and it was difficult choosing between Emory and CWRU. Have great years at CWRU everyone! 🙂

hey, we rock. This thread has the third highest number of posts of reasonably current active threads - and the one and two spots go to cali schools. Not bad for a midwestern school most often confused with a military academy.

Let's just say I had an EFC greater than $15k, got about $4k in grant and $6k in Case loan. If Kashue got a grant of $14k, then this suggests to me that another factor is at play. In addition to considering financial need, Case may allocate more grant money to students with better academic credentials to entice them to come.
