Anybody hear from Penn lately? Have they sent out acceptances/waitlist?

Good news! I was skiing down a double black diamond at Park City and got a call from Noemi Benitez telling me I was accepted to UCLA! I was surprised because she had said earlier that they call on Tuesdays. I think I will probably go to UCLA which means that if any of you are waiting for a spot at Columbia, you might get mine 🙂 So happy!

Accepted to UOP on 2/29. I interviewed on 2/16. I will be attending.

my hero. you're giving up a spot at a school im waitlisted at and are a black diamond ahead of my skill level (I snowboard, however). Congrats on UCLA! I figured I had no chance in hell at that school, with my test scores and being oos lol

OMG CONGRATS!!!!!!!! I emailed her and she said 2 weeks, but at least there is still hope for me.

Great news man! Honestly I am quite jealous but here's to hoping that I'll get to celebrate alongside you eventually 👍

For sure you'd want to take all of those classes for p/np now hahaha

That's awesome! Congrats! You really didn't have to "wait" at all. Now I'm kind of curious as to how they really do this waitlist. I thought they wait to interview all the alternates and then rank them into quartiles afterwards but they seem to be already ranking candidates in some sort of way.

Temple acceptance this morning. Will be turning it down so hopefully someone on the waitlist can get in.

Temple acceptance via e-mail 🙂 🙂 If you're reading this Brian, thank you thank you thank you!!!

Accepted to Buffalo off the waitlist on 3/5.

Interviewed: 2/09
Waitlisted: 2/13
Accepted: 3/5

oGpa: 3.52 sGpa: 3.33 20/19/24PAT/24RC

soo flippin excited

I would love to hear everyone's opinion about this decision. I feel like every time I ask people, I get a different answer. Most people I talk to don't know anything about the dental programs at either school and simply think Columbia is a better choice (because of the name most likely). I want all of your feedback to help me make the decision.

What are the pros and cons of each school? Did you interview there or have friends that went and what did they say? How do the cities compare as far as weather, social opportunities, cost of living, etc.

I am more inclined to go to UCLA because I am from San Diego and am used to the west coast. However, I am willing to do either. Let me know what you all think from the perspective of students who may have looked into the options more than I have. Thanks!

Pretty much all students who interview there (and many other schools) get put on the waitlist. Since they interview a lot of people there are a lot of people on the waitlist. They are also doing more interviews this late in the game. Just try to be realistic with yourself.

If oral surgery is your goal, then Columbia by a mile. The boards are now pass/fail and oral surgery programs are requiring the NBME in addition to the NBDE, which will basically test you on the first two years of medical school and as you know, you get that at Columbia. Though I'm sure many would argue that you'd be fine at either because you're competitive enough to have gotten into both. Also, if you aren't able to secure a hospital-based residency for oral surgery, then you'll have to pay medical school tuition for 2 or 3 years so you'd want a school that wont put you in major debt right out pf dental school, should you need more loans.

I can't comment on UCLA because east-coast kids don't have much of a chance at est-coast schools, and if we did, we'd apply to closer schools that are just as respectable (test scores that get us an interview at UCLA as an out-of-stater will almost certainly get us one at Upenn, Columbia and maybe Harvard).

I don't know if this helps but I vote Columbia, even though I'm on the waitlist and would do unethical things for a spot there haha. It's a great education but UCLA is probably just as great, maybe even greater, because UCLA has the same DAT scores as Columbia but a higher GPA for their incoming class.

I can wholeheartedly say that the best day of my life was the day I was accepted into dental school.

...and also that December 1st was definitely the worst day of my life.

Everyone on the wait list - stay positive! I was in the process of preparing for the next cycle...letters of rec, more shadowing, volunteering, etc. Suddenly, I got the call from Western U. Such an amazing feeling.

Way to go! It's totally amazing!!!

Apparently the Columbia waitlist is moving!!!!!! I received a call from Dr. Zubiarre this morning!

My stats are on Predents if you care to look. Interviewed 1-13-12. My application mail out was 9-23-11.

Currently, I am accepted into a dental school which I could not be happier about that 🙂. I am wait listed at 7 others...Louisville is one of those schools and is my top choice school...does anyone know how filled their class is by now and what hope I have of getting a spot?

Congrats! I'm on that list so hopefully I get lucky. It truly seems to be unranked because a friend who was waitlisted last week also got ib today but haven't heard of anyone in between you and him.

Congratz. it says you are attending NYU?

I think you're looking at my predents - I only sent my first deposit ti NYU. If I get into Columbia before the second one is due (April 2nd), then there's a strong chance I may switch.

Has NOVA sent out another wave of acceptances? Or are they full and waiting for people to drop?

As far as I know the class is mostly full. However, I was recently accepted into my in-state school so I will probably end up picking it because of the cheaper tuition. Hopefully you could grab my spot at Louisville.

Just checked my AADSAS, not expecting any changes to the School Decisions page, and saw that Detroit Mercy changed their status to "Invited for Interview". However, I have not received any other sort of notification (i.e., via e-mail), and it's quite late in the game. Could this be for real???

Could be, mine changed last semester before I got any other info. Give them a call tomorrow rather than waiting for the letter to get there.

Any updates from UPenn or NYU? Has anyone been accepted lately? Is the class full?

NYU's second deposit is due April 2nd, which is also the same day that dental schools must report to the ADEA which students have committed to their schools, so that students will be contacted to make final decisions. You should expect some movement on NYU's waitlist as students may choose to pull out of NYU, rather than pay the $3,500 second deposit. Quite a few people, like myself, might hear good news from our top choices over the next 2 weeks as other students may pull out of our top choices so all hope is not lost because even a full class is never really full until mid-April. Hope this helps.
