**Official Interview/Acceptance/Rejection Thread 2013-2014**

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I would not say it's 'for sure a rejection.' No one on here is the admissions committee. You never will know until Dec 1st.
The way I see it is that, if it says to check back on Dec. 2nd, that means that a decision has been made. If you didn't interview at the school, then it has to be a rejection since you can't be accepted without an interview.

Unless of course it's Creighton because they don't require interviews for acceptance.

Creighton doesn't require interviews? Really?
I think I have seen some posters with an interview from Creighton?

I received a "check back December 2nd" status for University of Florida then received a snail mail rejection a few days later. But that was just my experience with U of F, other schools may mean different things.

VCU interview notified 11/22, scheduled for 12/2.
3.24 overall, 23 AA, 27 TS

Hey peeps! I have been creepin' SDN for quite some time and I want many of you to know you should be very proud of the hard work you have accomplished thus far. I am posting my credentials below. I understand all colleges and universities are different in their requirements; however, I would like an honest opinion on my chances of receiving interviews and/or acceptance this 'late in the game.' Looking at my stats, I know they pale in comparison to many of you. I like to think I am a strong 'people person' and the interview will allow me to show off my true potential. Thanks in advance for any help! Let's all keep our chins up.

I do not have too many friends in the dental field, so I am seeking solace in this thread. Many people I know pat me on the back and tell me to be patient. However, I fear I submitted my application too late in the game. I did the best I could. My schedule allowed me to study for my DAT until August. I worked on my AADSAS and supplemental applications until my 09/18/2013 submission date. As with many of you, I also needed to save funds to pay for the application fees. I know it is out of my hands right now, but I wouldn't mind hearing feedback from others more familiar with the process.

Don't bother applying to Marquette. They give out almost all of their interviews before dec 2nd. Meharry- only if you're a minority group. That's my input. You have crazy Ec stats which could be seen as a plus for many school. If its underserved hours try the AT Still schools.

Your best shot is going to be at NOVA, LECOM, NYU, Tufts, and New England. What state are you a resident of? If you are located in the Northeast, maybe you'll have a chance at some others.

Thanks for the quick replies - much appreciated! I am a resident of Minne'snow'ta.

I received a Letter of Rejection from NOVA. It was dated for 10/18/13, the same day my third LOR was electronically submitted. They clearly didn't want to wait until my last LOR was in. The only letter I have received from any schools thus far.

I truly feel my ECs will pull me through. I have been involved in a lot of different activities and volunteering. I like to think of myself as a well-rounded person; but then again, who doesn't, right?

As with many of you, I am a nervous wreck. Just working both full-time jobs and learning to appreciate my time with friends and family, as I do not know what the next couple of months have in store for me.

I think you have a good chance at Creighton. I interviewed for an Idaho resident slot and it is an excellent clinically-based school. Also, Minnesota, your in-state school will surely contact you soon!

You have awesome stats and would probably be a shoe-in at any school you apply to. You are probably too late to really get a sense of how desirable you truly are. YOU ARE WAY TOO LATE! You should focus on next year and not get your hopes up too much. I speak from experience as I was in your boat last year. It sucks I know, schools post submission deadlines that are BS! they are done with filling most of the classes at most schools before December 1st. Ideally you want pre-Dec interviews. You may have a chance at places that do things very late like OHSU, but Ohio State just as an example was already on their last interview when you submitted. You simply have hurt your chances. I hope a miracle happens for you, but prepare for next year. Get great LORs and make sure they are submitted by July at the very latest. You do not want to be any later than 5th batch if you can help it. Dental school admissions is much different than medical school admissions. TIMING is EVERYTHING!

I am also from Minnesota (3.63 overall, 19AA, 18 PAT) and I turned my application in late july but had to get a new LOR that wasn't turned in until the 9th of September and they sent me an interview on the 11th of September. Some information that i received then was that they met mid November to make decisions on those that already interviewed to be released on the 2nd. I would guess that they will contact you after that.

1st rejection from UPenn via the snail mail. Kind of them to at least let me know that I am not wanted 🙁
with those stats, how do you get rejected?!? Sorry to hear, you'll definitely have a seat somewhere 🙂

Did you get the letter today?
Yeah, you're right, its not all about the stats.. very impressive, though. I didn't receive anything yet.. Just one rejection from LECOM literally 2 hours after my application was mailed out. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Nope. I interviewed there on November 8th, and mine still says "invited for interview." The woman there told us that day, though that on December 2nd we definitely would find out if we were either wait listed, rejected, or accepted!

Mine did not change either. But I saw someone on the school specific discussion thread had his/her status changed yesterday back to received/under review.
I was just wondering..

congrats BlueDevil..you at least know you going somewhere. haha. Great job
