i actually asked during the lunch, apparently a good number of our upper classmen used macs/tablet pcs. macs arent so bad, especially since you cna windows boot anyway (and get a useful two button mouse as opposed to that stinky 1 button). the tablet is supposed to be useful for pdfs and such with microsoft onenote, i have two lying around at home and i never liked them when i used them 🙁

yea the tilt is awesome. HTC makes the best windows mobile devices.
as for the mac, looks like im gonna have to convert some of you to PC, hehe.

thats what i thought. you could add your own notes and all, but i dont wanna spend the extra few hundreds if im not gonna be using that feature often. How is battery life on it? and is the screen really fragile on the tablets?

I'm in for a macbook too. They give a 10% discount to students on new computer purchases.
One weird thing I noticed when I tried to use the NYU discount for Dell Laptops was the original price increased so that the discount would cancel out. So in the end, the NYU discount didn't really take any money off.
hahaha....go figure. Gotta love retail, sounds like what they used to do at best buy when i used to work there.
the batt life is ok, the tablet pc is a motioncomputing (brand dell owns/owned when it was purchased). it lasts like 1.5 to 2 hours with moderate use and its been like 4-5 years since then. the screen is also pretty tough but you gotta be careful using it, just dont smash the stylus into the screen and you're pretty much fine. the writing on the screen is kinda like palm style except better. it takes some getting used to tho, so prolly get it before you intend to use it heavily.

it is in your account info when you do the NetID thing. did you do that already?
Haha i feel like such a technology dud... okay this is my problem, i go here https://start2.nyu.edu/ibin/start0.cgi and then i click on "Dont know your netID?". which brings me to the next page where i have to either enter my NYU university ID number, or social security number, both of which I don't have. This is the part that's stumping me... thanks for your help guys!
oh, yea i dont know how to help you in that case. You might wanna call the school, they probably assign you a ssn for educational purposes or give you some ID#. Once you get it, you can do the NetID and get your email set up.

im in NYC and i got my ID today. Just complete the NetID thing and in your profile, you can see your university ID.

Ta, but then you waste more time using the photo editing features of the mac. You know, the ones that allow you to distort everything that the built in webcam captures.😛

One button mouse. That's what I believe the poster was referring. Back in the day Apple's thought they were geniuses and created 1-button mouses. They were difficult to use after most people learned how to use mouses with PC's. Apple has since brought out a 2-button mouse. I wouldn't use a mouse with my laptop anyway.

im going to assume so, everytime i try to login to the NYU store with my NetID, it denies me access and tells me that there are special prices etc.
