Hey fellow canadian! this is a hard choice, as i loved everything about NYU, including the class size and NYC, but 20k more per year is tough to overlook. pittsburgh has an incredible dental school as well... well i have until jan 15 to decide... do you have any opinions on which one to attend?

Congrats to all who are accepted. Are you guys going to do the two month research program before school starts?

Hey mrsoccerpro, when did you interview at NYU? I was there on Jan 18 and they said they'll let us know within a week. Just wondering if you were in the same batch as me...

So did you guys get an email first telling you of your acceptance and then get an official letter in the mail? Or did you just get a letter in the mail?

yes i would like to know as well 😀

All right people its official. I'm NY bound 🙂 They took the money out of my account too. I can't wait to move to NY so I'm going to apply for the research program. Anyone else doing it too?

I got in last week! I'm thinking of applying for the research program this summer, does anyone know how competitive it is?

Well, I just applied for the program online. It took two minutes. Let's see if I get in.

hey udonzilla, I looked at the waterside plaza apts website, and they are amazing!!!! real close to campus and great city/water views. Check it out. Now I just need to find roommates before school starts.

hey, i wouldn't mind being roomates, except i was looking for some thing more run down =) waterside is pretty nice though.

I looked at the NYU off campus housing, they do have a lot of two bedrooms listed around 1800-2500. That is cheaper than Waterside but probably smaller and not as nice. If I end up in the summer research then looking at all these places will be easy, but if I don't then it might take a couple weeks before orientation to get a decent apartment.

yeah, i think im going to have to come up there a few weeks before school starts too. did you want to commute to school or find a place thats walking distance.

i was actually thinking about commuting just to save the money on rent but i guess i'll see what happens. where is everyone else living?

why dont you guys consider the surrounding boroughs of NYC like Queens or Brooklyn. It is much cheaper than Manhatten. Commuting in NYC is not so bad because of the sheer number of subway lines and Buses linking the city together. I live in a distant part of Queens by JFK airport, and it takes me 30 min by subway to get to NYUCD. If you live just across Manhatten, it will only be 10 min-20 min depending where you live. The great thing about NYC is its public transportation system, fast, efficient, massive, and reaches all parts of the city.

The savings are too great to pass on IMO.

How much do apartments 15-20 minutes away cost? Any one from NYC here?
Price ranges for studios, 2 and 3 bedrooms will help

it seems like it's just us three going to nyu. =)

hey don't we need like a password and login to check out the properties?? how'd you access it so fast? and do u have the website link? (mebbe we're thinking of different sites)

thanks
mb

Thanks Craigslist helps a lot. Now I need to figure out what Upper East side and West Side and Gramercy all mean.
Brooklyn is pretty cheap, those are San Diego prices.

Yes, you need your nyu netid and password that sets up your email. Try to search for netid and the steps are self explanatory

how do we know which route the subways and buses take?

also when you guys find a place to live, let me know where and i can help plot a route for you guys, if you want. You will get the hang of it all soon after you move here

thanks man, you're a life saver.

np, anything else let me know guys 👍

Just be careful about what neighborhoods in Brookyln you live in. Def. do the research on the neighborhood before you commit.
