👍 someone's being a little egotistical

I dunno, silverturtle, The Most Interesting Man In The World wants something from you, he gets it. It's the way of the world, bro!

Kind of like if some guy wears Axe, I'm legally required to kidnap him and drag him naked through the desert. At least, that's what the TV told me! Or was I supposed to get some other sort of message from that commercial?

I am inside your mind... don't control your temptation... Let it flow. Let it flow...

That's only okay if you're a girl.

No way! You're actually a girl?!?!

Well, I have 2 X chromosomes and no penis, so...you can draw your own conclusions from that, I guess

I'd ask why you're so shocked, but I guess I've never been much of a girly-girl. I fix my own cars/motorcycles and own <5 pairs of shoes (shopping blows) for whatever that's worth! 🙄

You are probably an XX male... but are you seriously a girl? This is astounding... 😱

It has happened, as long as they have the SRY. It could have been translocated into the X at some point... 🙄 Isn't genetics fun?

Hey, I only specified 2 X's...Could be XXY! 😏

I'm not, though. I'm just a girl
Dammit, now I have Sk8r boi stuck in my head :annoyed: :bang:

Are you a full girl or a semi-girl?

So you're really a girl? This is surprising since your SDN posts and your work seem to indicate you're a guy

Whoa, whoa, whoa...I get that I often don't come across as a girl online. To be honest, I usually avoid sounding girly, because people treat you differently sometimes. But my work? Girls can't do research? What work are you talking about 😕

Yes, I am 100% girl. Hell, not only am I a girl, but I grew up in a 100% female household! I have hair down to my butt (well, until I drunkenly chopped it off last month), own 2 skirts (one purchased for HS graduation, one for college), cook and bake really really well, and shave my legs. I also:
Study organic chemistry
Have been working in research labs since I was in HS
Fix my own car
Ride a motorcycle
Work on my own motorcycle
Play sports (well)
Drink exclusively non-diet soda
Hate most shades of the color pink
Hate dolls
Hate shopping
Am good at math
Can read a map
Travel alone, a lot
Grill delicious, bloody steaks
and I don't wear makeup.

Make whatever assumptions you like about my tone, my attitude, and my name...but don't try and tell me that I work a guy's job, or that girls can't do cool ****. I don't mind being a tomboy but I do mind the implication that certain careers are for dudes. :smack:

Ouch, that could be taken as an insult....

It's mostly kind of funny considering that I discussed the baby-making potential of my uterus several times in this very thread
Except the work part, that was taken as an insult. Probably an overreaction, sorry. Ah, well, I don't really believe in editing my posts in an attempt to pretend that I didn't say what I said.

Haha! Ahh yes the uterus!

I wouldn't necessarily say that its an overreaction. When people people tend to generalize a job as specifically male or female (online or in person) it can be somewhat frustrating. I think it would be more understanding if it was something way more heavily one gender or another (ie. construction, receptionist, or firefighter) but I think research assistant is generally viewed as gender neutral.

Or when a lady/girl goes to an auto part store with her male friend, asks the clerk for a part/asks a general question, and the clerk addresses her male friend and ignores her. I swear I thought she was going to deck that guy right there on the spot. Some ppl are just chauvinists, ignorant, and/or misogynists.

I feel yah mehc. I won't even get into the reciprocal of those complaints.

Oh, you mean like...nurses, for example?!?

Haha, at this point I find the car one borderline amusing...since I will have recently researched and poked around anything I'd be going to the auto shop for, chances are I know more than the clerk does about it. Hell, at some point while rebuilding my brake lines, I went to the mechanic for some advice...ended up teaching him the difference between standard and bubble flares/tools. :meanie:

Bolded is unisex. I usually admire natural tomboys (unless you have a low-cut hair, then :barf:). :biglove:😍:biglove:

Also, I love girls who bake cookies. Sorry, just had to throw it out there.

I wasn't talking about your research work. The "other" work you do implies you're a guy.

No where in my post was I even implying research. Where are you guys getting that from? 😕

Oh sorry, I was assuming that is what you meant (which I guess makes an ass out of me 😉) I was thinking that because that is her occupation on her profile.

Sorry, I assumed it because that's the only job I have, or have ever had. What other work were you referencing?

Also, the diet soda thing was a joke; there are SO MANY 'diet soda only' girls
The chem thing I only put in because I thought that was what you meant by 'work'. I hereby retract my rantiness, if you were not referencing that. (still slightly frowny that "work in research labs" was not bolded as unisex.) I maintain my confusion, though 😛

Just as a curious side-note, what do you consider low-cut hair? As I said, I recently got drunk and let my friend chop mine down to my chin, which is several feet shorter than it has been for most of my life, but I think it still looks girlish. And some girls can pull off even the mega-short looks and still look hot...saw this girl rock a super short faux hawk so well that even my mom admitted she was hot/badass. Actually, my mom suggested I do my hair like that, which was extremely out of character for her and also will never happen. But yeah, short hair can still be awesome if done right, and this paragraph is irrelevant to the last few posts and also everything ever. Puppies and unicorns!!

Oh, and it's less 'cookies' and more cakes. And even more cooking than baking. Though I do make a nutella-stuffed peanut butter cookie that's to DIE for 😀 If I ever interview at your school (since you're ahead of me) I'll bring you something tasty!

Oh okay. Speaking of which, it's a fact that only guys can work as mechanics, as it should be. Come at me bro! I ain't scared!

(Please don't kill me)

Well, that's super-nauseating. :barf::barf:

For me, medium or long hair is best. I don't want to mistake a girl as a guy.

I saw red until I saw white, lol 🙂

Yeah, you're not a tomboy. You're way too girly. Riding a motorcycle is way too dangerous for you. And tattoos and piercings are disastrous for your body. You should simply ride a bicycle to class. That's the best advice I can give to you. I don't want you to get injured doing all those manly tasks.

Also, could you please knit me a sweater? I will greatly appreciate it.

Ehh, I know plenty of females who would happily argue about that with you. But hey, whatever! HAHA  just saw your little message!

I've always preferred longer hair also. Again, I know a few girls who look great with short hair, but medium/longer is just my personal preference. I have very rarely mistook a girl with short hair for a guy. (Probably only once of twice, and its usually style of dress or mannerisms that throw me off. But who am I to judge?)

Tell me about it, I almost hit the concrete barrier at 95mph the other day cuz these stupid Californians don't know how to pave their damn highways! Pothole on curve @95mph = death wobble on the handlebars = guess I'll keep going straight even though the road is curving = gosh, I sure hope I regain my steering before the pavement runs out!

I suppose that's what I get for speeding like that on a non-sport bike. My sneaker actually brushed the median, I am not even joking. I got pulled over, but the cop was just checking to see if I was OK, and to compliment my recovery. And THAT'S how you know I'm a girl 😉

I actually wasn't joking. I don't want to damage the internet tough guy image. I will be happy to debate any one of you regarding this. I need to first find my sweater, which will take a while for delivery. :naughty:

Urgent question. Is this in NorCal or SoCal?

HEY! California roads are beautiful! They are so bumpy its like a back massage, and god forbid you want to read a book. Your shaking so much the words become instantly blurry. Plus depending what highway you are one, COWS! That's something you can't find everywhere, you should appreciate it more you know?

Thanks bro! Appreciate the advice! Actually, though, I did recently resolve to ride my bike as much as possible; it's really helping my knee get back in shape so I can finally play sports 'n sh/t again soon.

I would be happy to knit you a sweater. You might not be happy with the results, though...I've never touched a knitting needle except when I'd steal my friends to stir all of my delicious alcoholic beverages! You'd be better off accepting the delicious food I offered ya!

If you can bribe me with food, I don't care how my sweater is.

God I hope you're not...no suspension work, though, mmkay? I still have puny little girl-arms!

I 100% will bring any of you cookies if I visit your school, because I will be SO SO HAPPY if I end up visiting any schools, that I will probably start binge-baking and someone has to eat it all!
