Come back and tell me what the heck any of this means!
1. That's oppressive. Include the M in the community. It's only fair.
2. Then why is Q part of LGBT?
3. Why would black panthers even care? They were fighting drug gangs.
Metrosexual isn't a sexuality...it's a term describing a fashion/style. You can identify as metrosexual in the same way you identify as 'goth' or 'emo' or 'punk' or 'preppy', but it has no bearing on your sexual preferences.
Bingo. Thanks for putting that much more eloquently than I was able to haha. you hit the nail on the head

I walked into your room just as you got out of the shower. I told you I was sorry! Your friends let me in!
Haha, thanks...also, for some reason, my brain always reads/says that as "hit the nail on the hammer", which makes NO SENSE but apparently tickles my neurons the right way.![]()
Haha you are ridiculous, luckily 1) I don't live with friends and 2) I always have a towel

Q is a part of LGBTQ because it is a minority group which faces a similar style of discrimination as LGBT. They are all separate populations which have formed a larger organization because they face similar hurdles/obstacles.
Black panthers? Lol I'm staying 8mi away from that!

+1Can I just pop in to say that I love, love, love this discussion and the fact that it's on SDN? Finally a riveting conversation that's not about URMs and me banging my head against the wall. Thank you for arguing about something intelligently and listening to each other, on this forum nonetheless!
OK back to your regularly scheduled thread, this queer girl just wanted to interrupt for a second and say hello 🙂
And to reiterate the previous point, some people want to identify as lesbian or gay just as anyone would want to identify as straight, but that doesn't mean that queers can't identify as such as well, and it CERTAINLY doesn't mean that we shouldn't all be allies to one another!
ftfy 😉1. that's a weak ass joke
2. because LGBT don't fit within the heterosexual paradigm either. we have all been marginalized and oppressed by society in a similiar way and kinda get lumped together.
3. i was talking about in the 60s yo. not related to the LGBTQ thing at all
Thanks for elaborating. Someone very close to me feels this exact way, but rather than take the risk of not passing as female, chose to remain a male with gender fluidity and heavy involvement in the kink community.I could definitely see how this would be insulting (a man "wanting" to be a lesbian out of hetero male fantasy about lesbians) but maybe Agent B is being legitimately curious about this scenario? I mean this does happen to people and it confuses straight or otherwise non-LGBTQ oriented people, in that why would a person born a male and attracted to females EVER want to change their sex to female and be a lesbian? I've heard this question before, but there ARE female trans lesbians and it's a legitimately complex but completely valid situation to be in.
Yup, people were also arrested and charged with sodomy, a law that was only recently federally overturned. I myself was "gay bashed" by a group of three men at a party in rural TN that came up behind me, broke a liquor bottle over the back of my head, and proceeded to beat the crap out of me until my friends intervened and got me TFO of there. I'm not exactly sure why they thought I was gay, but that should tell you something. It's all about hate's perception of you. What is this I don't even
Police used to raid gay bars and arrest everyone present. In this country. There are social movements that came out of people getting tired of things like that happening. Until the last decade, it's been universally legit to fire people from employment or evict them from housing for being gay. And it happened, a lot. It still happens. The AIDS epidemic disproportionately hit the gay community and because of that, it was a low research priority for years. There are a lot more examples in the world.
😍 What's her number?http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/09/transgender-time-lapse-video-transition_n_2441099.html
I found a cool video for you that's along the subject matter
My roommate is decidedly metrosexual and loathes when people ask if he's gay. We live in a spotless downtown condo. Just the fact that it's so clean combined with the superbly fashionable way he dresses and takes care of himself causes people to assume he's gay. With all the women he brings home? Yeah, he's not gay.Metrosexual isn't a sexuality...it's a term describing a fashion/style. +1, thanks for having a good conversation about this, guys.
I know I'm kinda late to the party, but I wanted to add that I also think that queer can even still be 'straight', but can involve just some trans tendencies, like a guy who likes women but also like wearing skirts or makeup or fingernail polish, what have you. Queer is a pretty flexible term 😀.
Trans man + Trans woman = queerest straight relationship ever.

Good point. The rachelkj phenomenon returns!
This thread has kinda restored some of my faith in SDN. Perhaps its just from spending too much time in the sociopolitical issues section but im pleasantly surprised whenever I don't get called a genetic defect or sinner after outing myself. I kinda thought having a reasonable discussion on trans issues was out of the question

Sorry but the Lounge is evil.
Also, Wacey can I come over to your place tonight?
You sure cannot. I've planned a nice quiet night with myself and my chemistry homework.
Yes, we can help by buying you many, many drinks. 😉It's only for an hour. I invited guero, cg2812, and mehc012 along. Just a friendly chat. Your chem homework is probably easy stuff.

Blame your friends. They gave me your number even after the shower incident.
And you should trust me. I'll persuade your professors through my various disguises.
yep, also 2 queer people can be in a heterosexual relationship together. I have a friend who is bi and her boyfriend is also bi and even though their relationship is technically heterosexual they define it as queer (because they don't stick to normative gender roles and they both are not straight)+1, thanks for having a good conversation about this, guys.

What evidence do you have that I should trust you??
Well you see... wait a minute! You already agreed to for me and the SDNers to visit you. The deal's off.
