Official SHPEP 2017 Forum

Where does it say this??
It says it on the shpep website. You only have 2 days to confirm your acceptance otherwise your offer gets pulled.

I'm assuming that after the 2 days your offer will go to someone in the waitlist.

This is kinda off topic but I wonder what we do on the last day of shpep cause if I get accepted into Columbia shpep I'm def going to the panorama festival in nyc which starts on July 28 and is the last day of Columbia's program.

Lol go the day Noname and Solange are there, they are the best of the lineup imo

But its unfair what if someone get accepted to a site before Decision day and confirms it and then they will not now if they got accepted to another site, which probably was their top choice

I don't think they release acceptances until the 15th?

No one is getting accepted anywhere BEFORE the decision date. All the sites you applied to will release their decisions on the 15th. and if you made it into more than 1 you choose the 1 you want more.

I was thinking about this too because the line-up looks really nice.

Does anyone know if they still reserve a set number of seats for Premed/Predent out of the 80? Because I remember when it was just for Med/Dent, they would do 60 seats for Premed and 20 seats for Predent. Not sure how the ratios look now with other professions included

i know the first day lineup which is the last day of columbia's shpep is solange, frank ocean, vance joy, tyler the creator and cherry glazer and i love them all. i think noname is on the second day with tame impala which is also cool.

yeaaaaa if we both get in, we have to go. the lineup is so dope.

Anyone else majoring in a STEM field? If so, how did you get a professor in your major course of study to write you a personal LOR? I've only been in lecture classes for STEM so far...

I knew I was applying for SHPEP when fall semester started so i went to office hours to "get help", but it really turned into talking about my academic pursuits and goals.
I didnt bring shpep specifically until a couple of weeks in, after he got to know me a bit. Then my professor told me to come in weekly so he could know me more personally and write a better letter on my behalf.
I still talk with him even though im not in his class anymore. I plan on keeping him in the loop and visiting him every now and again so i can use him potentially for Med School applications

Last year SHPEP didn't have Florida, Alabama, New Orleans, and I think Iowa

Oh okay. I didn't apply to any of those. I was interested in New Orleans only because I have never been to N.O. Ultimately, the three sites that I chose appealed to me more.

How long did it take your transcripts and LOR to process? I sent mine in on the 29th of February but still see no change in the status of them ...

i sent my LOR on january 31st and it processed before the early application deadline so i would call

My LOR was sent in on January 31st and processed February 6. It was also emailed.

Is Florida new?? Has anyone done the Florida program? May I know your experiences? Or even Houston...
I applied to Florida, LSU- New Orleans, and Texas like two months ago...

I have an internship lined up just in case i get rejected but its chemical and Nuclear Engineering 🙁. I really want this so i can get more medical/clinical exposure and plus this is a great opportunity! I'm so anxious. Really hope i get it

And im especially nervous since they expanded to most health professions and not just med/dental. But they didnt expand the number of available slots so its even more competitive now with an even smaller probability of getting in.

Where did you apply?

Just anxiously waiting for my transcripts to get there ..... my LOR finally was received and verified but the transcripts haven't .... why must they use snail mail ... electronic is so much faster ...

Hello, everyone. I'm a pre-nursing student based in California and I think I'll apply to UCLA, WesternU, and for the third one I'm not really sure... I REALLY want to do this though. So which ones are least competitive? haha
I moved here from the Philippines in 2013 (hopefully that helps boost my chances)

I think Houston is one of the least competitive but I am not so sure now because since they added more pre-health professions more people are bound to apply but I would say Houston. Goodluck!!!

The sites in the Midwest seem less competitive

I would also recommend that you checkout the new sites.
