Because somebody had to start one. Now, people are throwing some dates around, "second week of May", "May 10", and so on. Let's organize all our thoughts, epiphanes, and knowledge on this thread. Thank you, and God speed.

I just called admissions and the lady said that the letters will be sent on the third week of May.

if you guys want more information on the Wait List at Tufts, go to www.tuftsissue.com, follow the News/Op-Ed link, and an article that I wrote on the waitlist should appear. I remember that I received my "official" waitlist notice shortly after May 15 last year and was accepted on July 17. Good luck!

The third week of May? I was hoping for a pre-May 15th letter so I could get my other deposit back.

I interviewed April 16th, and Tom Slavin specifically said the committee will meet today, May 7th, and letters will be postmarked by the 10th. I'm not sure if he was refering to everyone, or just the April interviewees, since they decide in month blocks.

Was he feeding us a line? Say it ain't so, Tommy!

The third week of May?!! Maybe she meant that we should be getting the letters in the third week of May. Also, from my experience, there's sometimes a disconnect between what really happens and the update that you get from the receptionist (although I have not seen this at Tufts so far). So, we'll see what happens.

Panda01, you gave some detailed info as far as the dates. Do you have any other information that you heard?

Just called the admissions office to figure out what the deal is and spoke to Angela (she has such a matronly voice, no? :) ). She said the admissions committee DID meet yesterday and made the decisions, and the letters will go out Friday (the 10th) or Monday (the 13th). So we should be hearing next week, which Angela said IS "the third week in May". I guess, technically. Either way, I'd say only another week till we all hear.

Good luck!

Wow! Remarkable post, Panda. I have a question. I interviewed in October, received the funny letter in January about "no decision rendered yet", and haven't heard anything since. Is it possible that the decision they made about me yesterday was an acceptance? Or should I count on either a rejection or a waitlist? How does that work, and does anyone with prior Tufts experience know the answer to my poorly worded question?

Panda01, thanks a lot for more info. Also, I read Katie's article on how Tufts' waitlist works. I have a strong feeling that you'll end up getting in one way or the other. The reason is that, if they waitlist you, I think your NM residence will really help you out. Katie's article quotes Mr. Slavin as saying that waitlisted people are not ranked and that applicants are plucked off the waitlist based on attempt to balance out the geographical makeup of the class. If you're from NM, you're money (I think)!!!

Willy, I'm pretty sure that you were placed in one of those post-interview hold status. That just means that they delayed making a decision on you. I've seen a few SDNers get accepted off the hold status so far this year. So, I think anything was possible for you in yesterday's meeting, including an acceptance. From what I've gathered, it seems that Tufts does not reject too many applicants without first putting them on the waitlist.

I hope that I don't sound too optimistic but I wouldn't be surprised if people received acceptances at this point. Somebody actually posted that they had been accepted from the "no decision" and referred to it as a pre-waitlist. I think that alot of the wait has to do with Tufts seeing where else you have been accepted, how much interest you showed, and what are your chances of attending.
Also the statistic of 50% acceptance after interview is hopeful.

Hi people -- PLEASE post as soon as you get that big fat letter from Tufts this Saturday or next week.

Getting very nervous...

If they send out on fri. may 10th I'll probably get the letter on monday. Hopefully it's a big envelope.

...did I mention....I'LL DO ANYTHING TO GET INTO TUFTS...? If not, there you have it.

pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseprettyprettyplease.........

Supposedly, notification will be sent out TOMORROW. Cross your fingers, troops, and expect mail by Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Does anyone want to call tomorrow and see if the letters really went out? Or if they'll go out Monday. This wait is killing me.

I'm just psyched I get to post on an official thread with an all-caps title. I'm moving up in the world.

Otter--if I do get waitlisted and get in off the waitlist since I'm from New Mexico, that would be the only good thing to come out of moving here for this year. Financially it's killing me--I didn't even get in-state tuition at the Univ. of New Mexico (they said I haven't lived here long enough). NHSC here I come?

Does that mean they haven't sent out any acceptance letters until now? I didn't know that. hmm.. coolio.

Panda01 - I called and was simply told that all letters should go out no later than the 3rd week of May. I couldn't really nag her for any more info than that, so I'm sorry but I didn't find out anything new. Did you move to NM specifically for med school admissions reasons, or were there other reasons? Do you live in Albuquerque?

oneironaut - Tufts has sent out acceptance letters already. I believe the only one who has not gotten any post-interview contacts are those who interviewed in March and April.

Hey otter--no it wasn't just for med school. My family is here, I wanted a break from the east coast, wanted to do the kerouac "on the road" thing, etc.
It's been a great year, but I would have moved somewhere else if it was just for in-state admissions purposes, like Mass or VA.
So what do you guys think is the third week in May? I thought it was next week definitely, but all this vagueness from the office is making me antsy.

So wait. Why is there confusion, again? Didn't somebody say the letters would be sent out today or Monday, for sure? Wasn't that you, Panda, who said that?

Someone call 'em; I don't have the proverbial 'sack'.

Oh, I feel the anxiety on this thread..... :(

If they do send out letters today, I will receive mines tomorrow ( I live close to tufts). I will definitely let everyone know if I hear anything (even if it is bad news).

Good luck everyone :) .

Anxiety? More like PANIC

I have no acceptance, and not only does Tufts present my best chance of an acceptance this year, it is also my NUMBER ONE choice right now. So, please, Tufts, please.....!!!

Panda01, I hope you don't leave NM without checking out all the great places nearby. Carlsbad Caverns, White Sands, Monument Valley, Petrified Forest, Royal Gorge, Durango, Colorado Springs...

Otter, ditto and ditto, ditto ditto; ditto? Ditto!

Best of luck to both of us!

anyone know enough about G washington to compare the two schools? I'd like to know . . .

Hey otter, you sound like you know the dusty southwest... yeah I've been to most of those places. Carlsbad rocked, but the petrified forest these days is more like the petrified pebble beach. All the big pieces of petrified rock have been stolen or sold or whatever. Isn't that ridiculous? You forgot the amazing skiing at Taos though :)

So I just got back from a Weezer concert that rocked and probably took a few notches off my hearing. So worth it!

Anyone who hears anything from Tufts, post!

Hello All,
I wish you all good luck in getting in. Just a 411 for you all. I received my acceptance from Tufts on the 7th and I interviewed April 15th. However, my case may be a special situation because I applied for the MD/MBA program which starts at the end of May. Also, my acceptance is contingent on me going into the program. If I want to do just the MD then I would be put on the waitlist. This sucks for me though because I've realized that I want to do the MD and really really dont want to do the MBA. What do you guys think I should do. Should I just accept and be unhappy with the MD/MBA or gamble and put myself on the waitlist? Thanks for any advice and again, good luck.

Sorry guys, I didn't receive anything today. Guess we'll have to wait a few more days.

Wow. Anyone else waiting for notification that has been waiting since their October interview? I'm wondering if it means certain doom...

I'm in the same situation dmbmd. Hopefully we'll get info soon.

any new info out there? did anyone hear from tufts today?

CAPTAIN WILLY LOGGING IN...MONDAY...13 MAY 2002...1300 HOURS...I JUST WENT DOWNSTAIRS TO CHECK MY MAILBOX AND THERE WAS NOTHING IN IT EXCEPT A LOVELY LETTER FROM MY MOM AND CREDIT CARD SOLICITATIONS. NO NEWS ON THE TUFTS FRONT TODAY FROM ITHACA NEW YORK...THANKS...CAPTAIN WILLY LOGGING OFF.

anyone else? anything?

Maybe the letter is getting sent out this week?

nothing here either.

Panda, were you serious or just rousing us all when you said decisions were made on 5-7 and will be sent the 10th or the 13th. I just went downstairs to an empty mailbox. Today is the 14th of May. Panda, once and for all, were you confabulating?

willy, as you know, all the time we hear one thing from med school and then have another thing happen. This is especially true regarding dates, as things get pushed back, etc. I think that panda01 was just conveying what he heard.

I am panicking just like you, but let's keep our fingers crossed and just wait.

panda was right on the ball. I just found out that I am waitlisted. The letter was dated on the 13th. I interviewed in April.

Yikes, more waiting....

I hate to be arude crude dudess, but what were yer stats?

BTW, the waitlist letter came in a big envelope. so don't get too excited until you open it.

Goodluck. :)

Wow. Otter, you're absolutely right; Panda, I'm sorry if my last post was laced with petulence. Hellokitty, I'm sorry you have to endure more waiting. I guess I should open the mailbox tomorrow slowly; thanks for warning us of the big waitlist letter.

Tufts sent out the letter. Man, are they mean or what! I got this big envelope and was like, "yes!!!" and then I open it to find out it is a big fat waitlist...it should be illegal to send out anything but an acceptance in a big envelope:mad:)

I just my Tufts acceptance in the mail this afternoon.

I had called this morning and the admissions office told me that I was accepted over the phone. So those of you on the west coast waiting for your mail - give 'em a call!

Good luck to everyone on the wait list.

Congratulations!!!   When did you interview, out of expected curiosity?

Hey willy--no worries about the petulance. :) This is the rest of our life I guess, tensions run high. I just felt like an ass, because Slavin definitely told me the committee met the 7th, and Angela told me the letters would go out the 10th or 13th. No mail today though, so I'm calling the office tomorrow, hopefully for a little sweet sweet acceptance lovin'. I'll let everyone know.

That's great!!! Congratulations, punkin2!!!

Awesome, punkin! Are you thinking of going? I interviewed on the 16th, and I guess they weren't lying when Slavin said they reserve acceptances for April peeps.... here's hoping...

For those recently accepted. When was the letter postmarked??? For those waitlisted. When was the letter postmarked??

just found out I was waitlisted by calling. Well, more waiting for me.

Just called this morning and Angela broke my heart--waitlisted. Better than a rejection I guess, but still! I guess we all have to view this process as a golden opportunity to develop patience. :)

Good luck all. Any idea when the waitlist starts moving?

Hey,

Has anyone been accepted or waitlisted from the hold list?

My roommate interviewed in Nov. or Dec. and got that no decision letter a couple of months ago.

She received an acceptance letter yesterday, 5/14. Luckily for all of you, she sent in the no today -- she'll go to UMass, exactly where I want to go.
