Good "bump" timing! Noemi called me today with the good news! Not confident enough yet to put "UCLA 2011" in my signature yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll be there with you guys in September!
I'm definitely excited enough, however, to finish every sentence I type for the rest of the day with an exclamation mark!
I'm all for a get-together too! That would be so fun!
Also...I decided to start a Facebook group for us so we could be cool like the other schools 🙂 I named it UCLA Dental Class of 2011 so you all should join!!!
I joined. 🙂
YESSSSSSS!!!!! I got the phone call from Noemi this morning. At this point, I'm not even sure how I got in, seeing how I'm an Oregon resident. I thought my chances were slim even after my interview. Now....UCSF interview this monday....what to do? what to do?
weird... I called the housing office and the lady told me I have to fill out the online application in order to be considered for guaranteed housing.
😕 anyone has any more input on housing?

Any of you guys who were accepted from UCLA...have you guys heard/ gotten anything from them lately? Aren't we suppose to receive some financial aid pamphlets or school pamphlets or instructions or something 🙄?
Hey guys.. first of all congratulations on your acceptance to the BEST SD!. I really envy you!
I got invited for interview for Feb, any advice??? is the essay question easy, considering english is my second language?
I would really appreciate any feedback.🙂
Hey Ice,
So i called Housing today, and it turns out we're all lottery applicants right now. UCLA dental has yet to send in their specifications for those who will recieve guaranteed housing. Oh, and i believe Life is throwing the party 😀.
Hey hows it going Envision, I haven't received anything yet, but I did talk to Connie, the financial aid advisor last week, and she said that they'd be sending financial aid packets out sometime during February, so be on the lookout for those. 😎 I also talked to Noemi, and she had said that information regarding final transcripts and administrative stuff like that will be sent out around April.

Good luck! I look forward to meeting you in september 🙂 .
As I said, I got an interview invitation for next week, but it says that I am not guaranteed a seat even if I do well on my interview... Most likely I will be placed on the waiting list. My question is, if I do get placed on the waitlist, what are my chances?? How many seats are available at the moment??
I really want to go to UCLA, but I've been accepted to Columbia already (I haven't sent the check though) and I don't want to risk my seat just to be waiting on UCLA.
Any advice??![]()
Bump... 🙂
Hey Dat_student how are you? How's your first year coming along? Even though we're rivals..I feel compelled to ask, cause we went through the same hellish cycle last year 🙂
Could anyone suggest a good anatomy textbook? I have some free time from now til dental school starts, and I may do some self-study (although highly unlikely 🙄 ). I am wondering which anatomy text is used by ucla dental students, or has anyone taken anatomy before and loved his/her textbook? Thanks in advence 😀 .

Hey guys I'm kinda stuck between this decision...UOP vs UCLA...I have till the end of February to decide...help me out...please!!!
I receive too many PMs sometimes. Some of you tried to contact me but I couldn't see your private messages. You can always send me an email message. That's the best way. Email: [email protected]
BTW, if you really want to study ahead of time. After gross anatomy study biochem. 😉 Gross anatomy 1st, biochem 2nd. I can't distribute copyrighted materials and/or anything without permission. I'd be more than happy to give Dr. Miller's power points to anyone if he gives his approval. He probably won't. You can see the power points for biochem if you go to the following web site:
http://intranet.biolchem.ucla.edu/bc205/2006/06lectures.htm
....1) Stop telling them to study ahead of time. It's stressful enough.
...2) Stop linking people to the class sites. That's why professors such as Dr. Pae and Dr. Law refuse to give us their PowerPoints to study. "Outside" people either contact them for questions, or they steal their material. Remove the link, please.
3) Have fun before dental school guys, and gals, of course. You'll regret it if you spend the summer studying for dental school because frankly, once you get it, you don't really stop working.
And oh, I applied December 25th of my cycle year, got an interview in March I believe, and got a phone call from Sarah Johnson two days later with my acceptance....just shows you how old I really am, since Sarah Johnson hasn't worked at UCLA in at least two years.
hey chill ziptree 😀 . your points were valid, but dat_student was simply being nice and trying to help. thanks ds.
i am not planning on doing any major studying, but I have so much free time recently that I am simply bored out of my mind. Thus I want to check out a good text from the library and just read sometimes. So I was more of looking for a textbook recommendation and get a sense of how much anatomy is required to be learned by UCLA dental students (whole body or head/neck, etc.?)If anyone can help it will be much appreciated 🙂.
I know how hard it is going to be for the next 4 years, so don't you worry that I am not treating myself nice enough before september.
I just gave them the link to biochem because I know, for sure, Dr. Neufeld doesn't mind. I have not given them anything else because I don't know about other professors. I agree with you. People should have a ton of fun before and during and after dental school. People kept asking for guidance. I just gave them that link. Some professors password protect their sites and ask people not to share. I know Dr Neufeld really doesn't mind. I am 200% sure if incoming students directly ask Dr. Neufeld she'll give them the link etc. I'll go ahead and remove the link just out of respect for an upperclassman.
70% head and neck; 30% everything else up until the waist, plus reproductive organs. Nothing in the legs or feet.
Still spots left for the cycle?
We've all been talking about doing something to meet our future classmates.....so I will take the initiative and attempt to get something going.
How does March 24th sound? It's a Saturday (night preferably, unless you guys are into beers for breakfast). I live in San Clemente which is about as Southern Orange County as it gets but I will meet anywhere up to LA. Why don't we get some feedback from some of you on where to meet and who is in.
Okay......GO!
Whats the dress code 😀?
Speaking of LA and march...anyone doing the LA marathon? If so we'l meet then 😎.
I am seriously considering it. I love marathons. 🙂
