What about the other options for school housing? Like Keystone, Mentone, Rose, etc. I remember reading about them on the housing web site. Weyburn Terrace is the newest and the closest to school, so are the Weyburn apartments more expensive than other school apartments?

If single I think that's the only option (& best option). Ziptree, Dr. Hobie and others probably know more about the housing options.
 
If you haven't applied to Keyston, Rose, etc.. already, you won't get a spot in time.

Yes, Weyburn apartments are almost double of the other places. But then again, Weyburn is new (or, well, almost new). Plus it's close to school.
 
So who ran the LA marathon yesterday?!

I did and i finished in only 6 hours and 42 mins!! 😀 I can now cross that off my list of things to do before dental school 😉.

I heard about it. I wanted to run too but had to go to santa barbara for my friend's bday. But hey at least you finished it. Thats great!!! 👍

Thanx! Alas, me and my friends who ran it are all but completely immobile. Stiff knees, blistered covered feet, broken toe nails, shin splints....you name it. but it was a great experience.

haha, thats funny because I have all of those injuries and Im just trying to train for the sd marathon!

I was wondering how I would go about applying for guaranteed housing and if I should be doing that now. Also, how is parking at UCLA? I am also looking to get an apartment but I'm not sure how important it is to get a place walking distance from school. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thats how you apply, but guaranteed housing is offered to selected students. the selection requirements are unknown to applicants.

Noemi said you don't have to apply for the guaranteed housing. Just wait to hear in April and see if you get it. If you get it, then you can fill out the online app.
Parking is probably bad at UCLA. I'd get an apartment within walking distance, or on the bus/shuttle route. Could anyone share how convenient the school shuttles are? (like how often do they come/ how late do they run til.)

If @Weyburn Terrace or within walking distance bring your bike or buy one for ~$60. Distance (weyburn - dental school) >> walking: ~12-15 min, w/ bike ~5 min.

I still cant get over some of those record marathon times. Congrats on completing one, hopefully i can stay motivated enough to get my first one done this summer so we can have something to talk about other than school next year, haha.

Heh. Oh man, I remember having to miss the pre-dental-school get-togethers since I was up in NorCal. I met everyone the first day. So overwhelming.

If you wanna spend some cash on a nice place, I'd say the W hotel is really close and a great spot. There's some other places by the airport that are probably cheaper, or some courtyards and marriots in the san fernando valley that are reasonably priced.
