hey drlexygoat,

i checked and you are on the memberlist (if you signed up with the name lexie) so it looks as if u have successfully registered try logging in with u'r username and password. remember when u intitally enter the site u will get a pop-up box. the username for that is 2007 and the password is the same. then u will get into the site and on the rite hand corner there will a thing that says log in. click on that and then u can long in with u'r name and password. it should work 😀

Well...I am back from my apartment hunting trip to Tampa. I must say that apartments are more expensive than I had thought....at least 1 bdrms. So I am now looking for a roommate for a 2 bdrm apartment possibly 😕 There were some really beautiful apartment complexes that I checked out...and some that weren't. If anyone is looking for a roommate (preferably female) that already has a place...or if you are looking for a roommate and need to find a place please let me know. I will go email the roommate coordinator and post on the USF official site as well. 😀

I just got the USF mailings...there is a lot of paperwork to fill out 🙁

Talk to everyone soon =)

Random Question here...

What color scrubs can we have for anatomy lab? Is any color okay (barring ridiculously-hideous animal prints and the like, of course)?

JennJ,
I am looking for a roommate. I don't have a place yet, though. What apartments did you look at? I've seen a lot of nice ones in the New Tampa area.

Doesn't the anatomy block start late in the semester? I heard November. We should know about the scrubs by then perhaps.

True. However, my folks (who NEVER pay for ANYTHING) have decided they want to buy me my first pair of scrubs and a stethoscope. They tend to forget about things they promise to buy for me so I wanted to get 'em now.

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the Professions of Medicine class we have for the first 3 weeks. I'm not sure what to think - is it an easy class that's just an intro? I mean it can't be hardcore science by any means. If anyone has some general info that's great!

Also, if any guys have a place and are looking for a roommate please PM me. I might need to room with someone since I might not be getting a condo until 2nd year - it all depends on if we find someone we like enough to buy. My parents don't want to commit to something unless they're sure it's the right place, so I might be living in an apartment for the 1st year. I don't smoke and am really looking for someone who is quiet. Thanks! 🙂

Ok so I talked to Kareem who is on the 12-PAC and this is what he said about the professions of medicine class....

it's really alot of fun, and an easy transition into med school

well, there's some science.... they take 4 major diseases (last year it was like diabetes, MIs, colon cancer, and breast cancer) and you go through every med class you'll have in the next 2 years as it pertains to that disease so in the diabetes lectures, you do some GI anatomy, physiology, then pathology, pharm - the whole deal

and you're split up into groups... each group presents one aspect of the disease/treatment process (alot easier than it sounds, trust me)

last year they did this thing where we compared it to what the "state of the art" was in 1980, but it was kindof a flop, so they may change that

it's a TON of fun, except for the fact that you're beginning medical school and it goes from 8-5

hey everyone,

a lil info on roommates, if you would like the list contact Karen May at the student affairs office. I personally didnt find the list too effective because it was a lot of people who had already purchased town homes and wanted someone to live with them so if you didn't want to go that route u really did't have that many options. i'm going to post this same information on the class website because a bunch of people have been asking me how i found my roommate which those of you who know the story it was by fluke 🙂 anyways speaking of the website, i was wondering if anyone had any objections to closing this thread like the other one and just moving over there so we dont have to check both. i think most people have registered successfully and we also will get to know more of our classmates and for those of you looking for roommates it may be a little better since u will be exposed to more people who are in our class rather than just those who only post on sdn, making it easier to find that compatible match 😀 if anyone has any objection to closing this thread then its all good but i just thought it would be a lot easier to keep everything in one place. also if anyone is having any problems with the new class website let me know, just fyi i was having a few problems myself at first. there are always a few kinks to be worked out. if you have any problems with it im me at sk14cat maybe i can figure it out or be able to find someone who can! -shaila

I would like to nominate Sk14CAT as class president of USF's incoming 2004 class! GO SK14CAT!!!!!!!!! You ROCK. You Da Bomb. 👍 👍

hahaha sorry about that post guys that is one of my friends who is a real big dork but u gotta love her 😍 but i would like to be involved with SG ... we'll see what happens

SkI14,
AWWW!!

I don't know if they have med students in student government or somethin like that for med students, but I know a former med student whom is now at Mayo clinic in Jacksonville for residency.

His name is Chad Masters and just graduated with the USF C/O 2004, and told me there are a bunch of student organizations such as AMA or AMSA or what not that you can get involved in if you are into that sort of thing.

Oh by the way, he was involved in quite of few of them and won gift certificates to the bookstore and what not from one of those organizations. USF also pays for national conventions for officers of organizations such as AMA and AMSA type of things sometimes.

Thanks gujudoc for the advice, but i'm pretty sure this is SG for med students, my big sib who is already a second year was class secretary last year. But i know its super time consuming and obviously my first priority my studies but a lot of people, like my silly friend have been putting the idea in my head so we will see

In case there's people that read this that aren't on the USF forums, I'll repeat here. I may be looking for a roommate in a 2BR/2BA. It's in Camden Live Oaks, and total costs (rent + utilities + internet/cable) should be under 475 per person per month. I have a small (~35lbs) dog that'll be living with me. If anyone thinks they may be interested, please PM me.
