Ohio State 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't think so! At least I didn't see anything lol.
It turns out it’s super easy to make one up! Here’s one in case there isn’t another floating around.

Did anyone receive an email about the accepted students' day? I feel like it should be the end of Feb, but I still haven't gotten anything

Is there any type of group somewhere for class of 2029 students who will be attending?

For the admitted student days on Feb 21-22... I thought they also had an option to go in March, is this still available? It was stated in their interview invite email, but they haven't mentioned the march date again.

I signed up for the March dates yesterday, I would think they should still be available!

Whats the Facebook group?Once you accept you’ll after the class page is made
Once you formally accept you can find the Facebook group made for your class and they will let you in. It’s likely this page cause it states Sandra is an admin

How did you sign up for the March dates? The email I got only talked about and had a link to register for the February dates

someone in the discord mentioned that apparently IS students have the February option only, I'm OOS so that's probably how I was able to do March

Gotcha, that would make sense since I’m in state! Wish we had the option to choose though, I’ve got a lot going on in February and it would be a lot easier to go in March

Would anyone happen to have any insight on scholarships? Where can we apply, or are we automatically considered if they are being offered to first years? 🙏🫶

Just thought I’d let you all know that I emailed asking about this and they confirmed that in state is in February and out of state is in March. They said if there is any availability for the March dates after the registration deadline that in state students would be able to attend

Need a little advice, so far Iv been accepted to Ross and I am #2 on Ohio States waitlist (IS)…it’s my dream school also. OSU isn’t extending anymore offers until after the deadline. The deposit for Ross is $1000 and I’d have to pay that, but I feel like taking the gamble and declining ross and just banking on receiving an offer from OSU in April. I have 2 months to think about this still of course. Don’t know if I should take this gamble? It would just suck being out of 1K when I feel like I’d probably get in to Ohio state? The last 6 years (at the least) they’ve offered past spot #2. Idk what to think lol

I would just email tOSU and see if they have had any instates that have already declined so they can give you a better estimate. I am not 100% sure if they would tell you, but I feel it would be worth a shot!

I would pay the deposit on the Ross seat and eat the deposit if you get into Ohio. You have a really good shot at seat but I think 1k is worth it to avoid the gamble

#2 is a great spot to be at, but you just never know.

This is how I feel. You could also wait a bit longer and see if you find any 'evidence' of IS people declining OSU offers. Reddit/APVMA/SDN are decent resources for that, as long as you take everything with a grain of salt

I know of one IS person declining already from APVMA. Ugh such a tough spot to be in lol

If any of yall are comparing schools and making decisions, just remember that tOSU changed up their curriculum starting with the current 3rd years. Its pretty different now, so make sure to get input from current 1-3yrs!

I’m so frustrated with the setup of the financial aid. How are they expecting us to make a decision without knowing the aid offered? And why are the institutional scholarship essays due in 2 days? I don’t remember hearing about these. Seems really weird
Where are you seeing that the essays are due in 2 days because I'm not seeing any of that in the packet? Mine says that it just uses your FAFSA and admissions application.

i'm trying to get into the portal rn and it isn't sending codes to my phone to let me verify my id. is anyone else having this problem?

So frustrating - I can not even get into the portal....just keeps spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning. While I appreciate that this information has been on a website, had this information been brought to my attention before acceptance - I would have read it.

would anyone mind posting what the essay prompt is? I also can't get into the portal and I've been on hold with OSU IT for 40 minutes so I don't have much hope of getting in today

Oh yes please!! I am also on hold and can not get into the portal for nearly an hour

Totally in agreement.

There’s like… a lot of mini prompts. Have you downloaded the duo mobile app (bright green)?
I can redownload it but the thing is I can't manage my devices without a text code either 😭😭 so I'm not sure I can really do anything until that's resolved

I am having this same issue, can you let me know what you do if you figure it out?

I'm so frustrated. They should have sent they financial info out sooner if the deadline is in two days 😐

I'm filling out the veterinary specific scholarships and a lot of the wording does not seem to include incoming first years, i.e., list up to 2 ongoing roles for which you have carried additional responsibility (in addition to your role as a student within the DVM program). Are we just not supposed to fill those sections out??

I was confused about this as well. Honestly, I don’t expect I’m going to have any time to submit applications to these scholarships that are due in 2 days when there’s short form essays unfortunately. But they wouldn’t send us an email to apply to the scholarships if we weren’t included as incoming first years right? I’m assuming it’s just because current students are also filling out these applications?

I would assume so - it seems the answers that make us eligible for the vet-specific scholarships were filled in by tOSU and can't be changed by us. It's very frustrating though. I'm leaving a lot of stuff blank. Like, it says we can't list undergrad experience, but that's the only research experience I've got and it seems silly I can't use it 😭

I've been out of school for 2 years so I'm leaving most things blank, including research. It feels so wrong but I'm not sure what else to do

I think some people asked this question but I talked to admissions a couple days ago and they said that tOSU should offer us the financial aid package (FAFSA score + Admissions Score) around mid to late March. Also, make sure to put the Ohio code on the FAFSA! It should be on the website I believe. They will offer us the full financial aid package (including loans) after April 15th if I remember correctly. The only difference between the March and April packages should just be the inclusion of loan options I think.

OK - help! I am so confused by the emails and the messages on here and on the AVMA Facebook page. As far as I can tell, there were 2 things we needed to complete by today 2/15 for scholarships/financial aid from tOSU. We were told about them when the financial aid email came out earlier this week (although the messaging was that they had been on the website forever.) Now when I go in the 2 things that said 2/15 deadline say deadline of 2/28 (changed over night.) What if anything do I need to complete by tonight at 11:59 PM EST? Specifically what and where?
