Dear Current Students at OSU School of Pharmacy,
Can you please give me some insight into the life of pharmacy student at OSU such as, campus life, location (Columbus), cost of tuition and living, rotation sites, etc. I am debating if I should go to the interview since I've already been accepted into pharmacy school in California.

The OSU has a great pharmacy school, I had six offers and I chose The OSU, the reasons are:
1. get away from my parents. we actually have a lot of ppl from California here.
2. tuition: you pay 30000 for the first year, then you can apply for OH residency and become a Ohioan and pay in-state tuition for P2-P4. in state tuition is 50% of out of state tuition. Not many states do that. So The OSU will be cheaper than your Cali school with equal excellent education.
3. Living cost: typical midwest city, but Columbus is one of a few Midwestern city that are still growing and alive. It is not a college town, but The OSU is a huge campus and you can meet thousands of college kids around here. Apartments are around campus everywhere. Price range 500-600 for one bedroom apt. 400ish for studio. I recommend living on the west or north side, which are generally more graduate/professional student oriented place. OSU is close to downtown, you will find many things to do, however, pharm school is busy though. The price index here is lower than Cali according to my friends who are from Cali.
4. Your everyday life in pharm school is: get up like 6:30, your first class starts at 7:30AM during your P1 year. You park across the street, your early class guarantee you a parking spot, no need to worry about parking. Parking place will be full at 8:30. If you wanna take bus, a lot of bus lines around campus and they are FREE. Well, not really free, you paid 8 dollars in your tuition, your BUCK ID give you free ride everyday.
Your class ends around 2:30 to 3 during first year. You got plenty of time in the evening, it's up to you to study or to party. The pharmacy library building is connected with pharmacy building, very convenient for students. Second floor of pharmacy building has computer lab. During 11:30-12:30, which has no class, it is called professional hour. Our professional organizations are very active and they always have meetings during that time with FREE pizza. I recommend getting involve in those organizations.
5. Rotation: you will have P1 rotation, P3 rotation, and P4 rotation.
P1 rotation=60 hr community rotation + 20 hr hospital rotation. the school will find sites for you. Plus, 40 hr senior center visiting+10 hr community service and other activities.
P3 rotation is almost the same as P1 rotation.
P4 rotation is 9 months, you pick the sites yourself, 3 months community, 3 months hospital, 3 months elective. Location varies all around the country. Your experience of rotation really depend on your preceptor.
6. Again, we have many Cali ppl come all the way to here, you will not regret it.
Any other question let me know.

and good luck and congrates to everyone who got in.
Review some basic organic chemistry in the summer...(probably no one's gonna listen
