Apply for the post-bacc. In the long run it shows commitment to the school and that you are willing to work on your weakness, your academic history (what is it by the way?). If you happen to get accepted great. Otherwise, and most likely, you will get an in with the program in their post bacc and demonstrate your capabilities first hand, better than a DIY at a CC. I'd rather take a good chance at an acceptance one year from now at a school I want to go to than a small chance of one now and a gamble one year from now. Medicine is a long haul.

My dilemma is, If I have to re-apply I can do one of two things. Take classes, or work full time.

It is a tough call. I think sometimes we worry to much. I would wait until May to apply to the post bac program. Maybe applying now is better I dont know but even though there is not a 'deadline' of holding acceptances at DO schools May 1st is the deadline for MD schools. After May 1st there is always lots of waitlist movement across the board!

If time isnt to tight for the post bac program Id wait till Mid May, call up and inquire about your spot and about what they found you lacking. Explain that worse case scenario you have to apply to them next year what would they want to see improved, again let them know they are your number one choice! This way if its not what you think you spend the next few months targeting that one/two things and make it in! If it is GPA then the post bac program is our best bet.

I don't see how applying to their PB program is going to prevent you from getting off the waitlist. Either you are going to be accepted fully, or you are not, I doubt that will be even considered. The reason I say this is your application to which they can base their opinion has no information on it about doing the PB, you aren't accepted to it, you haven't started it, you are only applying... It is entirely likely the people who take the aps for the PB program have nothing to do with the DO program... I say apply...
