Hi, I'm new here. This forum is really amazing. I have an urgent question related to my upcoming ortho residency interviews. Hopefully somebody knows more please help me.

Some schools in their interview invite emails saying their interview include giving applicatns scenarios and look for response. Supposedly they're not ortho related.

Does anybody know what they mean by "scenarios"? I know applicants need to sign confidentiality for the scenarios. But if anybody can somehow give me an idea, it will be highly appreciated.

I'm freaking out:scared:

Thank you!

If confidentiality clauses have to be signed, no one can tell you anything. That is the whole point of a confidentiality clause. RElax, and just do the best you can. Usually these type of scenarios are for the interviewer to see how you think or what type of personality you have...also if you can say I don't know.

They probably mean something like the following: "If you learned your classmate was cheating on his portion of a group project, would you turn him in? What if turning him in meant you would fail the course, what would you do then?"

I had one: A pediatric dentist that consistently sends you patients. If several present with clinically unacceptable restorative work, what would you do?

Gryffindor and Trenchmouth.I too am going to an ortho interview in couple of weeks.what are the best(winning!) answers to the questions you brought up?thanks a bunch🙂

There is no 'right' answer that I know of. They are not looking for your knowledge of a correct answer, but observing the way you think and respond. Be yourself, be thoughtful, and do your best to make sure your response is ethical. I highly doubt you'll see either of these two examples so don't worry about preparing. Also, don't be afraid to ponder an answer for a minute, it'll reflect better on you than blurting out a nonsense response.

Thanks for the response Trench.
