Hello all. I am currently a 4th year in New York and I'm in the process of filling out residency applications. Up until a few weeks ago, I was not sure about which specialty to choose. I am still torn between a few, but because I've always been interested in physics, I found radiology may be a good option.

I am, however, concerned about my chances of grabbing an osteopathic radiology spot due to my grades. Comlex I was 438 and my pre-clinical grades and 3rd year clinical grades were all average. I haven't taken Comlex II yet.

I am wondering about my chances of matching an osteopathic radiology spot, since I believe allopathic is already out of the question. The only thing keeping me hopeful is that according to the AOA Match Report 2 years ago, there were 34 spots and 37 applicants who listed radiology as their 1st choice, so perhaps 3 applicants would not get a spot. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Your level 1 score isn't competitive for radiology. With that said I'm a glass half full type of person so if you crush an audition rotation or two you might be able to squeeze in some interviews. I'm rooting for you so best of luck.

Just have a backup and do well on Level 2. I know a handful of programs that cutoff at 500 or 550. That said, sometimes cutoffs aren't as hard as they seem. Apply broadly, get in some good auditions and letters, and have a backup that you'd be content with.

Curious about how osteo radiology works in terms of being a good applicant and overall competiveness
