The way she teach was very favortism. Tell students to shut up and stupid is not effective teaching. She only give the answer to those students come up and ask her one on one and she tried to penalize who did not come and talk to her. What kind of teaching is that?? She got fired because she tried to hurt the students by arrange an extra test because there are not much students come up to her and ask her question.
About Dr. Borja, yes she is famous and president of whatever Hawaii Pharmacist Association, but what is that getting for us?? nothing! In fact there were a lot of rotation sites had been withdrawn after she taking over the job from Monroe. I did talked to her about helping to get more extra sites in california and she did not want my help rather she want to control the process. In my understanding she seem to make the process harder than it look and that why a lot of site withdraw because they don't want that much of a trouble. I had friends from others school and they said their rotation site set up are really easy, and with Dr. Borja, it seem like you have to tackle a wall to get one site rotation. About ACPE report, the last time I check HICP got denied at the meeting with one of the fact that we can't find enough site for all the students, plus the format was inappropriate form. Don't even tell me she can't do everything, I think with the number of sites on this island and the mainland should be more than enough for all the students. Bottom line is, I want results, and I have not seen anything with the old professors, I am not favor anything with the new staffs but it is a good start. You might like some professor with good attitude or nice to you, but if their work output is not much you have to consider them again. Also, I happen to like Dr. Belloto and I think he is more than qualify to teach us. Yes, I know he had short fuse but he did a very good job with Pharmacokinetic and pharmacoceutic. He keep remind us about people's mistake on calculation and tell us about real pharmacy experience, I think that is very important for anyone who work in hospital pharmacy. Immunology, I happen to like Dr. Gosnell, and I think he did a wonderful job in term of teaching. If any students who don't pass his class, would struggle through Infective Disease and Oncology Class for second year. About library, i just think it a sad story that we have to substitute that class for drug info. But overall, I think our program had a lot of qualify professors and we should be proud of what we achieved.
About the Dean, I love Dr. B but I think he is not qualify to be our dean since he had not involve with pharmacy field for so long. Even though he is working in the research field of medical for a long time. I think there are some school right now are without one, I know it have nothing to do with us, but give it some time and I am sure there are more people apply once we get more faculty in. They will bring more qualify people in. I think with a crowded staff, we can network more people, and through time the school can select who is the BEST person for the job.
I just think people who come up here are just try to find negative thing to talk and criticise, I got something to say to you. Bunches of hippocrite! For your information, some of the students who can not write in perfect English happen to be top of the class. If any of you hippocrite think you have better writting in English, why don't you pass the class like those students. Let me guess "external locus control???" Yes I know writting a good english paper is very important but I think the essential is output and if anyone happen to be work in the writting environment, he or she will learn to adapt. Even some people who are born in American still have time to struggle for writing in English. I think I had proven my point, obviously students who come up here find the negativity about the school had either a "cold feet" or really a hypocrite. Yes this apply to you Tony!!! I can't talk for everyone who have believe in school and stay. Just think about this, when you build a new school and there are a lot of obstacles on the road, you don't turn around to your partner and criticise them. And worse, you tell all the people about all of our negativity, make it look like our school is some kind of scam. Have you ever ask yourself what if the school really make it, then you are obviously try to bring them down. Compassionate is try to help whatever you can when the school is struggle, and obviously a lot of you up here did not do that. At least say something nice about your school. If you really listen to monroe and hasan said before the word expell you, they also mention that if you get caught cheating, fighting, disrepect professor, or call ACPE to jeopardise the school process of accreditation you will get kick out of school. I think it is fair to say that if you ever committed to any of those crime. I am not brainwashed by anyone, and this is what I see and this is what I think.
Anyway, study hard and don't talk trash about our school, let others know that our school is a qualify program. All of the students are part of the program so at least talk nice about it. Help our school to be a better place!

Are professional students in a doctoral program really this illiterate?
I mean you're not even stringing together coherent thoughts whatsoever, let alone actual sentences and comprehendable diction.
Is English everyone's fourth language around there?

If you really want to become a pharmacist and you have the capacity to do so, you would be able to work hard, apply to other schools, REAL schools, and make it in. If HICP was and still is your only chance for pharmacy, maybe you should rethink your career plans. Wake up call, the pharmacy profession is no joke. Do not treat it as such! It's about time I took a plane over there and smacked yall upside the head.

I know it's absolutely amazing to see a school try to pull this, and even more astounding to see the students who still "BELIEVE!!! ROARR!!"
I mean I really feel the school accepted applicants who would best fit their first class, and without intending any offense I mean students who are the least educated and literate (relatively to other pharmacy schools.) They sure did a fine job, but I think we should all move on now. I feel it's like the more we reply and discuss it, the more we see in slow-motion the HICP train crashing into a wall. I feel really sorry for all the students who were
fraudulently accepted into this program, and for those who can't observe what's going on and what has happened.
I don't feel anyone here can really do much in this thread except further aggrevate students who feel there is hope by replying to this thread as a daily pick me up bit of humour 😀
So in closing I think we should let this thread die out and not continually reply with amazement, we can all tell where this school is going.
IF YOU DO REPLY ILL HIRE A HITMAN FOR 100 GRANT AFTER YOU!

Is there anything that current hicp student are doing to remedy their situation? or are they just listening to their own administration and returning next year?

Thank you for posting up the truth. The truth will always set you free. It's only a matter of time when the whole truth will come out.
DayDreamer said:It is sad to say that I am probably that last person to find out about this. Remember in the beginning when everybody asked if HICP was giving away any financial aid to any students that have applied? Well, in turns out that one person had received a FULL SCHOLARSHIP. This sucks! I can't believe that I and other students had to find other means of finding 30,000 grand when I didn't even know they were offering scholarships to students. I believe part of my money went to this person scholarship and the other programs out there. 😡
FACT: JOHNHICP (since I can't write his full name) was given a FULL SCHOLARSHIP by Monroe and Criswell.
John,
Do you wonder why we stay here? Because we have 30,000 invested in HICP while you had NOTHING TO LOSE. So, that's fine. I'm sure all the students here want to know how this was even offered to you.
This is the "dirty politics" that goes around our school. This makes me so sick. I don't understand why HICP administrators would hide this fact from students. I'm sure the outsiders would know why.
From reading your signature, I guess you were not cut out for pharmacy?JohnHICP said:This is typical of HICP and many of the students...someone starts a rumor and every little sheep believes and follows. Grow up, get a clue and stop making up stories. One "girl", if you can even call her that, started telling people this rumor many MANY months ago, and at first a few people believed it and i had a bunch of people come to me and ask me about it, so of course I told them it wasnt true and anyone who knows me knows how pissed I am at the school for stealing my money and robbing me of a big part of my life. If I hadn't spent any money on tuition I wouldnt despise monroe and hasan the way i do and i would have left that ****hole after they were told to 'withdraw' their application the first time. If i had left earlier I could have gotten back into USN (where I was also accepted) for the 2008 class. But they screwed us all by holding out the information until the application cycle was over. 😡
Hasan and Monroe are in Las Vegas right now, probably spending all of our tuition...if you want to blame someone for "stealing" your money, you know where to look...check Deja Vu![]()
endlesslove said:Based on the recent posts in this HICP thread, I guess I can answer my own question in the Foreigners Studying Here thread.
Honestly, how much more lenient are pharmacy schools towards foreign students?
HICP was probably VERY lenient even to the least educated applicant, for it's obvious that foreigners' innocence and lack of mastery of the English langauge are easy ways for greedy businessmen at HICP to manipulate them and take their money to build other programs like the dental school 😉 So, Requiem, that may be why we are seeing a lot of students with bad English grammar from HICP (not to say all who go there are stupid)--a few mistakes here and there are okay but sentence after sentence is just quite ridiculous. But yeah, I agree, Requiem, I can't believe some pharmacy professionals are this illiterate--almost makes me feel embarrassed to be in the same profession as them. 🙁

Just a reminder (looking at my own student loans), it's NOT just 30k/year (HICP's tuition). It's also the cost of living, books, lab supplies, yada, yada. I'm taking out over 45k/year, and my tuition is around 25k/year... so it's more like 50-55k/year for HICP students, and 150-175k for "all three years", which I don't think we'll ever see...FutureRxGal said:That's even more reason to LEAVE, unless, of course, you'd rather lose $60K and then $90K. Whether you continue at HICP or not, you've already lost $30K. Why not leave and apply to a school that IS accredited and well-established?

So HICP students have most likely already lost 50k+ in one year, because of the high cost of living in Hawaii, and the high cost of moving there (and back?).
haha, no, just undergrad.. but i was just kidding..BMBiology said:Does your high gpa include your HICP gpa?
Wow, I didn't know that. I thought HICP was modeled after USN and we have a 90% passing rate (actually 85% if you get team points, but 90% if you need to remediate). Does HICP have team/group points for the test? If so, is the 80% with or without team points.JohnHICP said:also, you're only required 80% to pass, not 90, just fyi.

No team points, 80% on the first try, if you fail, you can take THE EXACT SAME TEST the following week and you need 85% to pass, if you dont, then you can take THE EXACT SAME TEST the following week and you need 90%, then 95% and if you fail THAT time then you remediate in the summer and it costs you almost 4 'grants', if you have to remediate more than 2 classes (i think its 2), you are kicked out.JTD1972 said:Wow, I didn't know that.
