Hey ~above~

Wow, so it sounds like your interview invite is on its way! Hope you get the good news soon! .....I haven't heard anything yet. I'll keep crossing my fingers!

Well... its about 830 east coast time - and no email. I dont know why it is on my mind so much. There are a whole lot more important things than me. I cant help but feel disappointed though. No email. Perhaps I will get something tomorrow. If by 4 eastern time I dont have an email - I will call and see what is going on. Did anybody else receive a call today?

~above~

Don't worry you're not alone. I have been constantly checking SDN for possible news on the second round of interviews. Ive been so stressed out lately and hoping for some positive reinforcement. Good luck and hope we hear some news soon. =)

Dont worry guys. They'll eventually call you and probably send you an email. I mean there's nothing anyone can do but just wait. But in the meantime, there's other important things to do like school, work, etc. Keep your hopes up...

Hi, I finally joined after ghosting this site for a while. I got a call this morning from Vanessa saying that I got an interview. Man what an interesting alarm I had, I almost shrugged that call off cause I was still sleeping. Anybody else here got any word on Nov. 18th interview date?

Thank you all for your support thus far - You guys know who you are. I cant wait to meet some of you - and maybe the rest if we get in (I am still praying for us all)

Take care - post later

Like Pharm, I have been checking this thread constantly in hopes you all will hear some good news! Congratulations to all of you that received an invite. Pacific was awesome: Just be yourself and enjoy! Good luck.

HAHAHA! YES! About time you guys got your calls! Congrats! I swear, Pacific U has the strongest network on SDN and we aren't even currently students!
Be sure to check out the interview feedbacks if you haven't already.

I will personally give a more detailed experience of my interview date once I find out my decisions (within a week I hope). Don't want to say anything that may jeopordize my chances, although I have nothing bad to say. BUT JUST IN CASE.

Again, congrats! 😀

Thanks everybody... Its pretty exciting getting that call... even its just an interview. The only downside for me for this interview is that after the interview I got 2 midterms... and its for Biochemistry and Toxicology. Good luck to all of ya that is still waiting for "the" call....

When did everyone who got accepted for 2nd round of interview apply? I'm still waiting for a response. I got my application complete on Sep 25. Not looking good for me. 😳

Hey I am so happy for all of you who got that interview on Nov 18, I also get the a call from Vanessa today, I will be interviewing on Nov 18, also, Kinda nervous. Want to ask any one that already interview are get accepted for some advice.

Congrats! I think your interview day will be whatever you make of it. I was really nervous at first, but then I realized the more nervous I let myself feel; the worse I would do during the interview. It is really a positive experience, and you have to look at it that way. You already made it this far.... you have what it takes. Now, all you have to do is let your personality shine through. I think they are looking for honest, well-rounded students who don't sound too "rehearsed". Know your strengths, weaknesses, and what you have taken away from your experiences working in a Pharmacy. After all, we are only human and everyone stumbles on a ? or two. Just take time to think your answers through and don't be afraid of the silence if you need to think about it for awhile. Hope this helps some.

Well...It is now almost 5pm (Pacific University time). Things aren't looking good for me! I figured if I didn't get a call today (like the rest of you) that I probably won't be getting one(although with the first interview group there were a few people that received their invites after October 2nd - the day of Vannessa's calls-...I'm thinking that must have been cause of openings due to cancellations of those invited originally).

Maybe I will call Vannessa tomorrow and see what is up(i.e., why in the heck aren't they interviewing me=))! I'm not giving up yet. ....I do though think that it may soon be time to shift my focus to other schools I've been interested in!

Thanks for everyone's well wishes! Congrats again to those of you who got the invites!

Hey thanks for the advice

Anyone here that did has an interview at Pacific Univ OR, and is out of state and has to fly there. What airport did you fly into and how far away it is from the school. Please let me know Thank.

Hey peeps,
I'm coming out of state, from CA, and I was wondering, would flying to Portland airport be best?? How bad is the traffic from Portland airport to the campus? Any tips/advice to make travel easiier for me? tHANK YOU!!!

I flew to portland international airport and got a rental at the airport and a hotel 5 mins from the school. I think it'll be best if you guys get a place near the school so you wont have to scramble that morning trying to get to the school...

Hang in there G - Definitely give Vanessa a call. At the very least, she will tell you what she can.

As to flying In - I will be flying in to PDX on friday and getting a hotel near campus. I am a little concerned about a rental. I really dont want to get one. Can I take the MAX from the airport to Pacific's campus? If I do get a hotel near campus - do you think I will be ok without a rental? I'm actually not very worried about the interview. My personality tends to shine pretty easily - it was getting the interview that was nerve racking for me. 😀

~above~

Yea baby! Me too! Congrads to all of those who have received invitations for the 18th. 😍

PDX is THE only airport you can use nearby. It's about a 30 min drive to Hillsboro from Portland with no traffic. My advice is to fly in during the later evening (after 6-7pm) so you can skip the weekend traffic. If you arrive into PDX before that, I'd suggest you hit up Portland for dinner until traffic leaves.

As for hotels, Vanessa will send you guys a packet with hotel information in Hillsboro. So don't worry about that until later.

And there is a MAX train RIGHT OUTSIDE PDX Airport. It's the "red train" (vs blue and yellow train). Students take the Max train from the airport to Hillsboro all the time. It takes about 45 minutes and you have to do one transfer of trains (to the blue train I believe). Here's their website to do some research. http://www.trimet.org/

Anymore questions, PM me or just post here. Congrats again everyone!

-FORGOT TO ADD: I personally rented a car from PDX. I didn;t want to worry about getting around in a new city. BUT, to get to the interview, I parked my car at a MAX Train station (free parking) and rode the train into the interview. Vanessa said there's minimal parking around campus (all 2 hr parking spots). The Max Train was right on time 8:28am on the dot! I didn't want to worry about getting a ticket in oregon.

And once I find out if I get in or not, I'll share a funny but important story about driving in Oregon. You'll thank me later =)

You can take the MAX lightrail from airport to the pharmacy school directly... there is a stop that is basically infront of the school. The only thing is you gotta switch MAX lines..

heh.. just realize eddie posted something.... kudos to him...

thanks guys for all the travel advice, i get lost really easily, so I really appreciate you all and your advice. Thanks so much!!😀 😛 😱

Also, don't worry about parking! The spots are "2hr Limit M-F," so since the interview is Saturday, you can park all day.

So you guys think I should get a rental? Or just a hotel REALLY close to the MAX or Campus? Man, I am broke as it is - 200 to 300 for suit - 400 for flight - + hotel + car??? Yikes 🙁 Its worth it though!!!

I think if you could find a hotel close to MAX, that would be totally fine. Problem is, off the top of my head I can't think of hotels with direct MAX access on the west side of town (I live on the east side). I would suggest waiting to see Vanessa's list, and maybe calling some of those hotels to see how close to the MAX they are. Also, if you're over 25 you can get a car from Enterprise for about $20/day. You can always reserve it now and cancel later (they don't take your credit card number for the reservation).

I don't think there are any hotels within walking distance of the campus.

Hey ~above~,

There is a hotel within walking distance from Pacific. It is called the Hillsoboro Hotel... or Hillsboro Motel. I remember seeing it when I was checking the area out. I didn't stay there but I remember thinking I would have if I knew ahead of time how close it was to campus. It's not as nice as the Red Lion or anything, but if you don't want to rent a car and are looking a less expensive alternative look up the Hillboro Hotel/Motel. After all, you just need a place to sleep, right? You could take the Max into Hillsboro and possible walk to the hotel (depending on how much luggage you have).

Okay,

I looked up the Hillsboro Motel and here is the info I found:

Hillsboro Motel
622 SE 10th Ave
Hillboro, Or

503-640-4719

Mapquest the distance to Pacific... it's real close. I think the rates are reasonable. Hope this helps.

Do not stay at a hotel close to the airport and then take the MAX to Pacific U. It'll take more than one hour. I miscalculated the amount of time it would take to ride a MAX from a hotel close to the airport. I went to the MAX website a few hours before the interview and realized that I had to take a taxi. So... there goes $60.....

Hi everyone,
So it looks like I'll be seeing some of you one the 18th! Anyways, the topic of hotels was brought up and thought I would share my 2 cents. I'll be staying at the larkspur Landing Hotel in Hillsboro. Looks like a great hotel and I only got it for $85! It is about 1 mile from the max and about 5 miles from Pacific U. Hope this gives a few more options for those still looking.

I could have stayed at a TownePlace Suites (Marriot brand) for $80 x 2 nights in Hillsboro instead of Quality Inn for $50 x 2 nights + $60 taxi.

Suite vs. Inn..... you get the idea.

Hey just wanted to say that i got an interview, i'm so happy when i checked my email today. I'm pretty nervous about the interview, i realize that i only have two weeks left, and i still need to plan my plane tickets and find a place to stay. But anyways just wanted to say thanks to all you guys for helping me.

Quick question for all of you that got an interview...Do you already have all your prereqs completed or are you currently enrolled or even enrolled for spring 07 for some of them?

No, yes, yes. Good luck.

For those of you who were at the first interview session...when is she supposed to start calling people about their status? Today or tomorrow? 😳

I think sometime between Monday and Friday...if you get a straight acceptance. If you are "on hold," waitlisted, or rejected, you don't hear for a while. That was what I got out of the information presented, but I'm no expert!

Yeah, I am getting anxious too! Hopefully we will find out soon. At the info session Vanessa said we would hear something in 7 to 10 days. Wonder if that would be business days or weekdays? Either way, we should be hearing something soon.

In my "research" from last year, they contacted the candidates the SECOND WEDNESDAY after the interview (11 days exactly). This happened for every interview session. True story! 🙂

But during the day, Vanessa did mention 10 days. Either way if you think about it, as of RIGHT NOW, they must have made their decisions regarding the first group already. If not, they are meeting right now!

So who wants to be the brave pest and call/email Vanessa right now? haha jk. We've waited so long, what's another 48 hrs?

for those who got a second round interview, when did you submit your application/when did it get sent to admission commitee for review? thanks

I agree - it looks like the answers come around 10 to 12 days after the interview (its hard to tell b/c people didnt post right away). I've got a feeling you all will be receiving a call from Vanessa this week.

Rebirth - most of the 2nd round applicants submitted just before oct 1st. My app has some issues, but my app was up for review the last week in October, and I received an email from Vanessa on Nov 1st (she left a message on the 31st)

I can't stop smiling! I just received a call from Vanessa... and I got accepted! I received the call about 5:30 Pacific time. I still keep pinching myself; I keep thinking I am dreaming. Anyway, I hope some of you are going to be hearing something soon.
