To be honest, I felt bad about leaving and am hoping I don't get a lashing when I show up tomorrow. But man, I sat there for 6 hours in the same room (except when we rounded with the Attending) and played on the net. I was more productive at home today.

I can't wait til tomorrow is home so I can take a break!

I hate how studying will go really great one day and I will be close to caught up, but then I am too tired to study the next day and fall behind again. Endless cycle of never keeping up...

I know the feeling. I had all weekend to study, but didn't do any of it and now I am extremely far behind. Test in two days too. Oh well, that's the last for that class.

Can't study. Must....watch.....football.

And they aren't even two teams that I like.

Now it is obvious how much you are procrastinating. Good to know I'm not the only one. Test tomorrow and still struggling with the motivational factor.

I don't have tests. I'm a 4th year.
However, I still have to read every day. Right now, it is derm stuff. January will be Cards. February will be Family, er, scratch that, I won't read that month.

I'm on Cards right now, but I have yet to pick up a book. I even bought Garcia's "Art of EKG Interpretation." But sadly, now that Step II is over, it's been hard to do any productive studying. At this rate I'm going to end up as a liability to whatever program I match at. 😛

That's my hope. I don't want to go in acting like I know anything only to step on toes.
Besides, this is seniorcation time. I'm on interviews, and they all require a travel day and a decompression day afterwards. I went to less than half of the scheduled days on Derm. I think I would have felt worse if any of it wasn't AKs and SKs, along with some BCC and SCC. Granted, I need to be able to see these lesions, but I also need more emergent stuff, and I haven't seen any of that.

Yeah it's Cards. I am unfortunately a body to see patients, write notes, and get zero learning. I wanted to cancel, but I wasn't able to without losing 4 weeks of vacation.

at our institution thats one of those things thats better in theory than in practice. You would have been better off reading an EKG book 1 hour day.

if the attending says anything or any of the other people do what you tell them is that you signed up to learn how to read EKGs (or whatever other reason) and you sat there doing nothing for 6 hours. Remind them that you CHOSE to do this and that unlike 3rd yr where life sucks and you are told what to do you chose this and it isnt meeting your expectations.

Yeah, it's funny how I found it. I've gone to the bookstores of the medschools I've been around all summer, and I've never found it. Then I show up at our bookstore, not really looking for it, and there it was. They said that they order one every now and then since someone recommended it a few years back. Quite a surprise to find a copy in good 'ol North Chicago.

Hi all. Sorry - was away until last night and now I'm sick 🙁

Glick doing MICU at Swedes recommended it. I have on a few occasions looked like a rockstar breaking out some of the knowledgei n that book. I am still worknig thru it but it is sweet.

i had a nightmare day yest.. ortho refused to see a patient. Huge fight (with me in the middle), never fun to be fighting in that situation. to top it off i ended up staying like 14 hours yest..

god help me. i cant wait to be done.. good news though is they are giving us off on thursday!

I want my stupid Step II scores already!

Starter went bad on my Cruiser. My fault though, I crossed some wires that shouldn't have been crossed and fried it. Oh well, I can get a better later model one that will bolt right in. I'm praying that this will get er started.

Only good thing is they gave me tomorrow off. BRUTAL

No joke.. i dont know i could go in tomorrow.. i need a break.. it is like nonstop work..

whats worse is somehow im getting dumped by the ortho residents on other rotations.

at my hospital the residents either get the week of Thanksgiving or the week of Christmas off. It is nice, but it basically means that one of our weeks of vacation is automatically chosen for us. (everyone but interns gets to make their request, but since only half can have each holiday off, not everyone gets their request.)

Happy Turkey day everyone! Socute, I hope you feel better soon. Todd, hope the land cruiser thing gets better again.

Oh, and EF, hope the ortho ends quickly for you. Sounds quite brutal.

So, apparently my parents have decided I seem a bit run-down (translation: Mom thinks I look skinny). So they have decided to order gourmet frozen meals to be shipped to me.

I need to get concurrent ear infections, sinus infections, bronchitis, and colds more often!!!
