That's peds for ya - we're all ooshy gooshy granola eating niceness. 😛 But hey, if the kiddo is stable, the peds folks can handle it. We do actually know how to take care of kids, and all.

Trust me i know.. its just that some services think calling at 330 am to ask how to dose Tylenol is urgent.. Now if you see me and im awake ask.. but dont call for that stupidity.. Of course im always nice when i get these calls cause... well.. i dont have to carry a pager the rest of my life. 😀

Unemployment almost over. License coming next week.

Meanwhile, totally bored. Bored bored BORED.

Maybe I'll tile the bathroom.

docta youll be starting your Peds EM fellowship right? in Texas?

Let me remind myself why I didn't go into IM. We started rounding at 10am and stopped at 1130am. In the process, we only talked about 4 patients on a 2 page list. We aren't meeting back until 1pm...why do I need a 1.5 hour lunch of county food that tastes terrible? Lets talk about these patients, see them, and then go home. Enough with the mental masturbation!

Officially not ready to be back yet...too bad half the day's classes are over already.

LOL... sucks.. bad news is that most programs require 1-2 months of IM.. even more pain!

Yeah, that's why I'm looking at places where I don't have to do that. Also, places with no OB/Gyn floor, just L&D. And maybe places that have peds anesthesia.

let me know where that program is... BTW most places require a full month of OB.. luckily we only do 2 weeks.

BTW you can choose to do some peds tubes. also dont forget most if not all places offer electives and as such you can do what you please.

Oh, I know that. But I would prefer the program to build it in and not make me use up my electives for that. I foresee surfing as part of my electives.
And as for L&D only, someone at UAB said that they do that there, and it is only 2 weeks, but then there is that whole intern year of all medicine thing. U Chicago doesn't do medicine inpatient. So you kind of weigh programs against each other.
Since all training ends up being roughly equivalent, geography is going to play a much bigger role.

Luckily, the second half of rounds went quickly. To be honest, I don't think I mind doing 1-2 months of ward medicine especially when I try to get something out of it...I mean I'm applying to prelim med. spots for my PGY2-4's.

I think part of it is that I'm officialy in 4th year mode and just don't care about anything but getting my interviews done and relaxing. My mind has officially blocked out any learning.

Why is there no jealous icon? Had to settle for 'wow'.

"Save the cheerleader! Save the world!"

Is it just me, or is "Heroes" actually more entertaining than I expected? I would put it 3rd after "Lost" and "24," which I can't wait for!

Don't know what this is, but I am probably going to be jealous. :wow:

Tell me more.

All 2nd years at my school have to attend and write up an autopsy. We do it in groups (mine is a big group - 8). Later in the year we will have an oral quiz on our autopsy and report as well.

Mine was at the Medical Examiner's office, but people go to a bunch of different sites. They pretty much call you an hour in advance and say, "We've got an autopsy, get your group together and get your butts over there." One member of our group isn't real big on using her cell phone, so I had to track her down in the main academic building - found her about 10 minutes before we would have had to pass on the opportunity.

Even though mine was at the ME's office, it wasn't anything HUGELY interesting (that's probably all I should say about the case itself).

Interesting.

Still can't study...I think I'm ready for another nap.

Oh ya...I found out that if I got a space heater, they aren't allowed in the apartments here. I heard that my neighbor used one and it kept causing the breaker to flip. Oh well...you all had a good idea there.

Nobody will know, and my heater hasn't tripped the breaker yet. You're talking 700 watts.

Finally got travel plans finalized for two interviews next week, my trip home to Arizona (still bitter about UofAz Fetus!), and my 2 week adventure in Cali. I'm happy I get to see a bunch of family over the next month.

Just had to say the KU vs. FSU game this weekend was a great one!! I was so glued that I couldn't even drink the beer I had in front of me!

I need Brett Favre to throw an int, or get sacked twice to win my fantasy football game tonight. AND THERE IT IS!!!!!!!!!!

Now I need Seattle to keep running the ball and at no point pass to Darrell Jackson.

For a second there, you had me worried. The SDN team I am playing against has Darrell Jackson, and I though maybe you had taken over my team.

Damn I need to lay off the Tanqueray. But it's so good.

WHERE IS EVERYONE, I'M ON VACATION ALL MONTH AND BORED. Or something.

So, anyone taking bets on the ACC/Little 11 challenge this year? I have the ACC dominating. Ohio State might take one tomorrow though. They can learn from the Zags about how to cover Tyler Hansborough.

Who here is going to a bowl game (as in, actually planning on making the trip). Fetus? You going to the National Championship?

MirrorTodd.
While I won't be on the big island, or any of the little islands, I plan on getting a new JK soon.

Just don't hate on the 4 door. Gotta have concessions for la familia.

Tomorrow, hmmm more like later this morning is my last day of Cards and all I can say is....THANK GOD! I've learned absolutely nothing in the last 4 weeks and I'm thankful I have interviews this week (even if they are for prelim spots). 😀 I miss the ED.

Lovin' that roof rack. I'll be getting one eventually too. I'm guessing that's the suped up sport utility options on that?

This is not fun...I'm tired, yet can't sleep because I keep coughing. Weather must be getting cold again.

At least you're not studying at the same time. Got any benadryl or Robitussin DM handy? It may not be the recommended dosage, but I drink about 1/2 to one full bottle of that stuff and it helps clear me up. Knocks me out too. And if you don't fall asleep, it gets you totally drugged up drunk. I suppose it's kind of stupid to drink that much of the stuff, but I've drank worse. I remember getting totally jacked up off of some other cough medicine. I can't remember what it was but it was orange and tasted pretty good. I don't think it's sold anymore though. That was some good stuff. Probably the most "fun"drunk I've ever been.

Yeah, it's a SEMA show rig. You can't buy half those options yet.
I'm hoping someone will make a soft top that follows the lines of the back roll bar too.

I looked around last night for some. I have absolutely no cough syrup of any type. I guess the pain relievers aren't usually cough suppressors...or maybe so...

Looks like my ACC comment was true. They're up 3-1 in the ACC/Little 11 challenge.

That makes up for the poor ACC/SEC football showing.

Bah! Stupid prelim medicine interviews tomorrow and Thursday. I wish I didn't have to waste my interview stamina on these.

Woohoo! Go ACC!

Your heels better beat the "#1 team because voters are complete *****s and like to be funny" Buckeyes.

Polls are worthless in all sports. Nobody votes for the best pro teams. Nobody votes for the best teams in "Championship Division" (I-AA) college ball. Only in stupid DI sports. And it hurts the game.

Actually, for some reason people vote for high school teams too. I can't say that it is fair either.

Finally, my Step 2 score is in and all is well. I am still waiting to possibly get an interview from Christ (I'm on hold), so I emailed them my score as soon as I got it. Hopefully it will help in my plight.

Think I might have gotten sick from surfing in dirty water the other day. Nothing a little 800mg motrin and some sleep couldn't cure though. I still feel a little under the weather though. More sleep tonight.

my step 3 exam tomorrow is probably going to be screwed up by bad weather *sigh*

I need to get crackin for that as well. DrMom good luck and let me know how it is. I hear it isnt too bad.
