I concur.
Glad to see the break is HERE!
Yeah, except that I've been off since before Thanksgiving. I love 4th year.
I miss 4th year *sigh*
😉
If you want, you can do the match stuff for me. That would help you relive the crappy part of the year.
And you can do my medicine Sub-I. I haven't done that yet.
I figure I will match somewhere. I just don't like not knowing where.
Plus this whole process is so non-transparent. Why should people write letters about me that I can't read? Why not let me read them? Would you say something about someone in their letter that you wouldn't say to their face? So why do it?
Why can't programs just say "Yes, we like you" or "Don't rank us highly"? Why make it so vague? You can say all you want, and they thank you for coming, but at the end of the day, you have no idea where you will be on their list.
But yeah, at least the rest of 4th year is nice.
about LORs... most decent people who dont want to write a strong LOR will tell you "I dont feel comfortable"..
Additionally, if you want to see what your LORs say then dont close them.. I know they will not count as much but.. if you want to see em..
Wishing I had less to drink last night though.
Emphasis on most. I had a problem getting into medical school because someone said they would write me a strong one and then it ended up being pretty bad. I thought it was poor form and told him so, to his face, and then explained that I had the balls to actually say that to his face, rather than trying to sabotage his career.
I just don't want to have to go through that again for residency. I don't figure I will, but you never know.
Yeah......when they have to call your Embassy to come bail you out.....that's a sign you had too much fun.Is there a such thing as too much fun?

"The difference between a really good day and a really bad day is usually really very little and there's seldom really anything you can do about it."- My grandfatherMy father always said, "more fun, more people killed." I think he might have been trying to keep us in line. Of course, he would always take us fishing and then jump out of the boat, once we were out about a mile, laughing his head off.
Compare that to the advice given by one of the most burned out docs I've ever worked with: "99% of patients who die do so despite our best efforts. The other one percent, might well have died because of our best efforts.""The difference between a really good day and a really bad day is usually really very little and there's seldom really anything you can do about it."- My grandfather
The man was a truck driver but I swear that is the best piece of advice regarding dealing with bad outcomes I ever got.

Went surfing today. Water felt great. Now I got the post nasal drip.
