PCOM Biomedical Sciences 2019-2022

I got the acceptance packet today! How strong is the linkage here?

Does anyone know the actual process of the linkage? Like if we do the biomed, do we still need to apply through AACOMAS in order to matriculate into the following years DO class? Or is it totally separate where they just reserve spots for a certain number of biomeds??

According to their website for conditional acceptance, it says that an AACOMAS application should be on file by December. I think the conditional acceptance is kind of new, so I am thinking that they're trying to make it a perk of their program. Just my opinion, not sure if others agree.

Anybody know why the Philly campus updates application materials faster than the Georgia campus?

My letter of rec has been approved on GradCAS for 2 weeks now, still waiting for it to update on my portal. Has anybody else had to wait a long time for theirs? It is the last piece I need for my application to be complete and its been driving me crazy lol
Is it for Philly or GA? My LOR was updated the next day after I got portal access. I have been waiting for my test scores to be updated for a week now though

Considering applying to the program if I don't get in anywhere this cycle. Does anyone who is in the program know how feasible it would be to tutor a 2-3 per day during the program to try and pay rent/living costs?

Hi I’m a current first year in the program! It is very feasible in the first term but the next term is significantly more time consuming. It honestly just depend on how productive you are with your time but I do work study but not more than 6-10 hrs a week but weeks I have exams I do not work at all. 🙂

What kind of work study positions do they have? Is it the same as undergrad like library, admissions, tech support, etc?

Right! The usual ones in undergrad. The pay is much better and it's more relaxed. School comes first and your bosses will understand that. They also have research work-study positions too. The pay is much better than undergrad, most positions are $18 an hour.

What are the requirements to be eligible for a work-study position? Do you have to apply within a certain time to get into a research work-study?

Has anyone talked to the admissions office about the program's essay requirement? I was only able to find out what is mentioned on the website and not sure if that is correct (general autobiographical statement, 500 words max).

You can apply anytime. I waited until after the first term to apply to work-study to see how I could handle the workload. There are always openings for research work study positions. There isn’t any income requirement or anything like that. ( I didn’t qualify for work study in undergrad for that reason) Honestly I think anyone can do it.

I just gauged my writing as, why would I be the best fit for their program, what I hoped to gain from it and how I could possibly contribute to the program/pcom.

Yes I just did a couple of days ago. He said they took med school personal statements which was perfect for me since I have had mine ready but he did say that it needs to be 500 words or less so I had to cut a decent portion of mine out. I also added a paragraph about how the masters program would be beneficial

I am might be getting just a little bit anxious since it’s now the eve of my deposit deadline. I really thought I was dead set on attending another SMP but I suppose I’m looking for a bit of reassurance. If any of you here wouldn’t mind contributing to the comparison with what you know, please pop over to another thread that I started and help me out.

I sent in 4 LOR, 2 from science faculty and 2 miscellaneous. My portal says the miscellaneous have been received, I guess they just haven't processed them all yet, because the "required" field is still blank. I know the requirement is for one to come from a science faculty member, I guess I just have to wait for them to be processed?

I submitted my letters from Interfolio to the email they provided on the website. Took a bit for the letters to get accepted.

Did it take more than 2 weeks?

I just got an “application incomplete” email even though I sent all my letters at the same time. My portal says they received the miscellaneous letters but not the required, which I find odd.

Just submitted my application, really excited! How long did it take for you guys to hear back??

About a month but that was when the admissions committee were doing monthly meetings. They said they would do meetings every two weeks. Where did you apply?

My application for Philly has been complete for 1 week now, hoping to hear back soon

Mine said the same thing for a day, then it changed saying the required LOR was recieved

What is the next step after submitting the application and all supporting documents on Gradcas? How long does it usually take to get a confirmation email from PCOM -GA?

I applied to Philadelphia. I currently go to Temple right now. Really not trying to move to Georgia but might send my application there later this week just in case.

Just got my $250 deposit updated on the portal for GA campus so I guess that means I got in! Here is my timeline for everything:
-I submitted my GradCas application January 30th
-Received portal login information February 3rd
-Everything thing was updated on my portal February 13th (Everything but my GRE scores was updated by Feb 6th even though I sent in my GRE scores to GradCas in December. But apparently they pull scores like every week or two for the portal updates. I called them and let know that was the only thing that was not there and they updated it immediately. So if you are waiting a while for scores to update I recommend calling them)
-Received deposit in portal today, February 20th!
Woohoo, super excited to attend this program!

Where does it have the deposit? Is it on the application summary page?

Does anyone know if there’s a Facebook for philly? Also, any idea on how the linkage works with the application and stuff... for example do the letters of rec for the MBS just transfer over?

I called them and apparently there was an issue with them matching my required LOR to my application, but the issue was fixed and I now my portal says that all of my materials have arrived.

So I guess now all there is to do is just (impatiently) wait..lol

So a deposit means that you got in? Can someone screenshot what the deposit looks like please and thank you.

A little off topic, but I've been trying to get into medical school for 4 years now. If PCOM doesn't accept me I don't think I have it in me to keep trying. I'm getting old (just turned 28) and I don't have a real career yet. The only positive thing about my situation is I don't have any student loans. Thinking about doing an accelerated BSN and going the administrator route if this doesn't pan out. Adulting sucks!

Did you apply to BMS program or right to DO school?

For anyone that is in the program currently or already did it, do you think that this program helped you when retaking the MCAT while in the program (if that's the route you had to go?). Or if this is answered somewhere else, could someone please refer me to that answer haha

After this program, you will kill the Bio section. It doesn't help with the psych section, but it kind of helps with the chem/physics with concepts at least. They also often this Kaplan class for a discount for being in the program.

So I have my portal login and it says everything was received except my standardized test score and it says nothing in the note section of the boxes. I applied without since my GPA on my transcript was a 3.46. Is this normal or should I contact them?

When did you get your portal log in?
