Hey, How expensive is the tuition for international students such as Canada and how many international students apply and how many are accepted?

thanks alot......

my application had been complete for approximately 3 weeks but no longer than that. my other invite at UMN Duluth took much longer....probably 2.5 months. and i'm still waiting on 4 more.

that's pretty impressive they invited you that quickly. I'm looking at like 2 months of being complete here and it's one of my top picks

whats up everybody? i'm a newbie to the site. i've got an interview at PCOM on Dec. 17th. i already have hotel reservations at the windsor suites right off of I76. is this the dangerous part of town? thats why i love texas....legal concealed handgun licenses!!!! lol...

I don't think so, but not sure

I believe tuition is the same for everyone regardless of immigration status - best to contact the adoff directly on those though

Superfan56,

I'm in the same boat. I already have acceptances at other schools but I want to go to PCOM. I have been complete for two months and have not heard a word. I called and they told me I would hear from them anytime between now and March!!

Anyone else in a similar situation?

I applied to UMDNJSOM, PCOM, and NYCOM all at the same time. The files were all complete around the second week of November. I got my UMDNJ interview exactly 2 weeks after I sent that in (I am a NJ resident, that might have sped up the process). But I haven't heard a word from PCOM or NYCOM. I'm guessing since these schools are in Philly and NYC there are a lot of applicants, but yeah, I'm really scratching my head as to why I haven't even heard from them. I called and checked if my file is complete and they said yes. It would put me at ease if they at least scheduled me for an interview, even if the interview is like, 3 months from now, haha. PCOM is my second choice next to UMDNJSOM, so if I get accepted to UMDNJSOM, this won't even matter, but still.

Ditto.

Future PCOM 2012er here...

...can any current PCOM student tell me if a Genetics course is required prior to matriculation? It wasn't required for my major and if I have to take one I'd like to know ASAP so I can register and take it this spring instead of over the summer.

Thanks!

Hi everyone! I have been complete for about four weeks now. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to recieve an interview invite? I know I probably have a lot more waiting to do, but it would be nice to have a ballpark idea so I stop checking my mail every ten minutes... Thanks a lot

Haha, nevermind I just read the above posts.

Nope not required.

Pretty much same situation except that I'm a PA resident. I'm accepted at PCOM but not an interview from UMDNJ-SOM or NYCOM. I guess, usually, the IS folks gets the first dip.

I wish I can goto the Luncheon tomorrow but gotta study for my Molecular Bio, Endo, Antro finals. 😎 If anyone goes, let me know how good the food was😀

Hey guys,

I wanted a little advice. I submitted my secondary a couple of weeks ago, and PCOM (like many of you others) is my top choice. I'm out of state, have a ton of research experience, but my science GPA is less than stellar. I have a 3.1BCPM and a 3.3 overall. my MCAT was a 30 (the number three seems to like me). i think i do pretty well in interviews...for those of you who have a better overall sense of the class, what do you think?

p.s. i applied to PCOM-GA also, and they already have my application complete, but PCOM-PA does not. i sent them both in the same envelope! did anyone else have a similar problem?

GA-PCOM is just a lot smarter, so they were able to process your application faster.

Also, they are a smaller, and much newer school, and get fewer applications.

hey, my stats are very similar to yours. i got into an out of state school (wvsom), and everyone says i'm most certainly getting into my state school and i should be good for pcom. so you definitely have a shot at pcom. what state are you from?

Your stats are very similar to my own, although I also have an MPH. I was accepted to PCOM a couple weeks ago...

When I called PCOM they said it would take three weeks to process my app (I called after two weeks of submitting it).. sure enough, I called back on three weeks to the day, and it was complete and being sent for review 😀 give it time..

hi, i am really interested in PCOM. I was hoping that anybody who has been accepted to PCOM could give me some advice.

I am currently a senior undergrad with two more semester grades left:

BCPM: 3.1
Cummulative GPA: ~3.3
MCAT: I have not taken it yet
I have:
-many strong LORs
-research and clinical experience
-am involved in many extracurriculars and have leadership positions in a few of them

I am also planning on taking a year off before med school and volunteer for Americorps

What do you HONESTLY think my chances are? What MCAT score should I get to be a competitve applicant? Any advice?

Thanks so much

hey, michk.
your stats looks good so far. However, if I was you, I'll target for about 27 on MCAT to make up for the science gpa. although, their past year stats been like 3.3/24, roughly speaking.
Good luck with rest of the semesters!

are the stats really 3.3/24..i know thats what it says on the website. I even called and they told me those same numbers. but when i went for my interview the tour guide and some of my fellow interviewers said the numbers are actually around 3.6/28?

You KNow~
The stat(usnew) was from 2005 and the pcom.edu's stat(3.38/24) is from 2004. The tour guides may have inside scope from knowing their collegues' stats and all. It won't be a suprize to see those numbers in future stats.
Haven't come across any hard data, though.

In reality who really knows. Just shoot for +30 just to be safe. I know people who were rejected from PCOM with a 29+ MCAT/3.8 gpa and people who were accepted with a 21 MCAT and 3.5 gpa. Its all a crap shoot. Do your best and study your ass off for the MCAT...oh and show some type of personality/enthusiasm when you interview. If you do all of that, you will be golden. 👍

IMO

nothing yet from PCOM. It's been almost 5 weeks. 🙁

does any1 know when the admission committee meet to make decisions for the post-interview people?

If you interviewed already, you should know if you were accepted, rejected, or put on hold before christmas.

this topic was somewhat touched very early in this thread, but what laptop computer is best at PCOM? I've always had a PC, but am thinking about a macbook from everything I've read on SDN. I know that you can run parallel windows OS on a macbook, but in general. What would current students recommend? I just want to make sure whichever computer I get can work with the in class notes, mp3s, powerpoints, and anything else we need to study!!

PC or a mac will work.

dude i've been complete and waiting for ccom, nycom and pcom; it's been 2 months! They're just taking their sweet time and won't even tell you anything when u call.

hahaha i've been complete for... 3.5 months and haven't heard from pcom or umdnj

Hang in there. I was complete for about 3 months before I heard from PCOM (October to January...).

Try sending an update letter or a letter of intent/interest.

I feel your pain... a frew of the schools I never heard from were NYCOM, Drexel, and Jeff... no correspondence whatsoever... piss poor and unprofessional, IMHO. NYCOM and Drexel probably would have been looked over by ME anyway after my PCOM acceptance... but who knows.

bump

any1 get an acceptance yet? i interviewed on 12/3 and am still waiting.

I interviewed on November 19, and the acceptance letter was sent out the next day. I received it on November 23.

GA-PCOM is just a lot smarter, so they were able to process your application faster.

Also, they are a smaller, and much newer school, and get fewer applications.

All of the applications go through the same committee regardless of whether its PCOM or the branch (baby PCOM)

They process those apps in the philly office as well. I'm a biomed at PCOM and what the adcom told us is that when your file is complete they look at it and either immediately invite you for an interview, or put you off to the side until much later on. They'll look at you again after a few months and then decide to invite you for an interview or reject you. Unless you have really strong stats, it's not really rolling admissions. It's kind of annoying, but if you really want to go here just wait it out. We don't even get to start interviewing till feb and it is all of our first choices. It's a big waiting game. If you have an acceptance from somewhere else you should probably put down a deposit just in case you don't get good news from PCOM.

the branch (baby PCOM)

I had to smile at the baby PCOM, I remember last year in D.C. when we met up with some of the Georgia PCOMers.

When I asked them where they were from they said GAP-COM. I thought it was kinda cute!😀

I know. When they say where they go to school it makes you go "Awwww." 😳

Hey all I am a new poster here... but I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they plan to arrive around their interview time at PCOM... or much earlier?

There was no arrival time specified in my email from PCOM... only the interview time.

I had called the admissions office and they said to arrive around your interview time- however I didn't get the feeling this person was completely sure.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated- Thanks!🙂

I'd call in again and ask to talk to Deborah. She knows what she's talking about.
