When I checked the status of my PCAT scores at PharmCAS, they listed the test twice, once under "Old Format", and once under "New Format" but I only took the PCAT once (June 2006). Anyone have any idea what went wrong??? 😕

I notices some sections weren't marked with an *, so you don't HAVE to fill them out. Did you? Should I?

Also, when I go for my letters of rec. what do I tell my person to do. Where does it give instructions about submitting letters or rec on pharmcas.

I called PharmCAS with that question. They have your score. Also the # of times you have taken it should appear, as you should see the # of times corresponding to the number of lines with both formats.

For me, I chose to fill out the info just b/c it's there. unless there's info that will work against you then i would say don't do it.

For the letters of rec, if you do it electronically, they'll get an email w/ all the instructions. If you do paper, then you have to print out a sheet that has instructions and you give it to your recommender.

Good Luck, Cheers

my advise READ, READ, READ....
PharmCAS has all the answers on their website. JUST READ.

the area with grey shading is your status for PCAT. I have 2 sections too, but the NEW FORMAT is kinda GREY, so i takeit that's my current.

I have gone to the pharmCAS website and read about it does.

But just to clarify:

Does pharmCAS look at your trascript and tell you if your missing certain prerequisites for the school or schools that are being applied to????

Do the trascripts get mailed to the school by pharmCAS???

I think they leave the responsibility of checking all your pre reqs up to you. And they forward EVERYTHING you send them to your schools.

Basically all they do is collect information from you and send it off as a package to the schools you are applying too. They do not check if your prereqs are done.

I thought they checked your official transcript with what you put on PharmCAS and then make any corrections, then send off their transcript. I suppose it's considered an official transcript after they edit it but I wonder if it's actual the "official" transcript from your school that they foward. I wonder because I sent in only one "official" transcript and applied to 3 schools. I think they probably send the schools the copies of your transcript they produce at PharmCAS.

What's the point of pharmcas...I read the website and it seems like it would be a lot cheaper if you just prepared everything yourself and send it to the pharm schools that you apply to.

Do certain schools require you to go through pharmcas?

Yes, many do. You'll find it helpful with LORs.

As for pointless....probably, but you have to jump through the hoops, you know?

I know this has been discussed before, but I still have a question. I want to submit my app today, but none of my references have arrived yet. I know that they are all on their way (talked to the evaluators) but should I wait to send until they all arrive or can I send now? (I need to start on the supplemental) I know that someone mentioned that it says on the PharmCAS website that it was okay to submit without the letters and they would be updated when they arrived, but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks for your help!!!!! 😳

I had the same question and from what I've been advised by people in this forum, it is OK to esubmit your Pharmcas app before all your LORs are completed, so go ahead and submit.

Yes pharmcas STILL sucks. I just finally Esubmitted my application tonight.

I Still Dont Get The Point Of Pharmcas ...... I Was Told At This Website That They Mail Out The Transcripts And Everything To Your Pharmacy School/s Of Choice. Thats Fine But ... Another Posted Something About Making A Mistake On Their Courses Or Something Like That....

What Mistakes Can You Do On Pharmcas???

I thought pharmcas might be pointless at times too. What's the point of doing a Central application when every school requires a supplemental application. But I do agree, that pharmCAS is helpful for the LOR, but is it really worth paying 60 or 80 bucks a school for the LOR service they provide.

you sending your transcript is pharmcas's way of verifying you've taken those classes but i'm not sure if they send copies of your transcript to each school (if they do, then maybe it's delayed). Some schools (like USC) require you to send them another copy of your transcript.
but like she said, you just gotta jump through the hoops b/c that's the way it is.

to answer your question about mistakes, i beleive the only mistake is if you enter a class incorrectly on your course listing or enter the wrong grade. I'm not really sure where you read that sentence about making a mistake, it might help to know the context it was in.

lastly, it would be a lot more convenient of all schools were part of pharmCAS, that's why it's the Central Application Service. it's a pain to do the app for schools that don't participate in pharmcas.

just late night ramblings i suppose.

Basically, pharmcas is going to take the PCAT report I recieved and send it to the schools i told them too. Is that right?

How long did it take after pharmcas recieved your transcripts to calculate your GPA. Do I have to wait for it to be calculated before I submit the application?

Simple question: If we made deans list can we include that under the honors and scholarships section in Pharmcas? Thanks!

Absolutely. It's something that distinguishes you.

So I have a billion courses because I started as a Music Student and morphed into a premed.
I entered all my completed courses in PhamCAS, and checked them a bunch of times before submitting them.
Still I made a couple of mistakes on the amount of credits that they are worth. The system won't let me fix it! 😱

Has anybody made the same mistake? Did it hurt your chances of admission?

Thank you. I am worried. :scared:

Hi
I am still in middle of process of completing pharmcas
I am still working on my personal statement
As far as I know once we esubmit we no longer can change any info.
Through the exp. of Pacific U I had to enter all the course(but not much section for this school since they require major one) I took and to calculate the GPA by myself. I wonder pharmcas is samething.
If we had to enter our completed courses then which stage it is.
I am coming back retired student and recently took prerequiremet in JC.
I wonder whether I should request old transcript since all my memories are gone to remember all that courses I completed.

If you have other more unique honors/awards list them first. But if you have space certainly add the deans list.

I agree...

There are other awards/honors that people simply cant get that are yours and unique. List the ones with awwww factor first - then list the generic "Im hot ****" like pres/deans list at the end

They take all of your money and do nothing but run!

I really really despise using pharmcas. $175 for 2 freaking schools (Midwestern CCP and UIC CoP). geesh. And the worst part is, I am also applying to a third school which does not participate in pharmcas(SIUe).

Midwestern requires your LORs to be sent through PharmCas, UIC requires the LORs to be sent directly to them on paper hardcopy from us, and so does SIUe. I feel bad for my LOR writers, because they practically have to write 3 letters a piece for me. 🙁

No, PharmCAS does not send copies of transcripts to your schools - they simply verify that the information you enter into the application is correct before they send your app to the schools. When you actually get accepted by a school and go there, then the pharmacy school will require you to send another OFFICIAL copy of your transcripts to them for their records, or at least mine did.

Would mentioning you are a member of MENSA be acceptable? I am always worried I will look pretentious if I add it to applications/resumes.

Its weird because I sent my University of California - Davis transcript twice (I have around 160 units at UCD) and it only takes them around 1 week to recieve and show that my transcript has been recieved on pharmcas.

I sent a transcript from Sacramento City college though one week and half ago and its still not showing as being recieved. That particular school I only took one class in.

Should I be worried??!? :scared:

Me too. Mine was mailed out on August 2nd, but still not received. I only took 2 classes there. Is it likely to be lost?

Hi, I'm asking how long does it take because my friend had her transcript mailed on the 19th and it still shows up as not being recieved by pharmcas.

I was wondering for myself too because I was going to update my grades before e-submitting to include my Summer session I grades and I wouldn't be able to mail it till the 18th of August (I need it updated before Sep 1st for Tier II deadline for UOP). Last time I had something mailed on the 14th I believe and pharmcas had already updated it by the 17th. I think perhaps they need more consistency? Does anyone know which is the norm?

Thanks

Hey. I think it depends alot on the school you're requesting from also. I have found that UC schools are alot faster than community colleges. CCs can take up to 3 weeks! However, you could rush it and pay extra. I think that's what you should do to meet the UOP deadline. If you don't mind paying extra $$, rush it.

Well I called Sacramento City College and they said they mailed it out on the 14th, so they definately sent it... I'm worried also it got lost in the mail.

The last of my transcripts were mailed out August 15th and as of this morning, PharmCAS still has not received them. So either both of ours got lost or they are just a little backlogged right now. I'll post as soon as they received these last transcripts. Can you do the same so I'll know if mine don't post a day or two after yours is received that I may need to request another copy sent? Thanks.

Will do!

I'm just paranoid because as I said I already sent in another transcript AFTER I sent the community college transcript and its already been recieved. Maybe its faster because it was merely an update? Bah.. well I'll tell you once my CC transcript comes in.

Does anyone have updated information under the Status - Supplemental page on PharmCAS? I've submitted secondaries for three of my four designated programs, but still no supplemental status information exists online. I know at least two have been received (my checks have been cashed), but haven't received confirmation directly from the school and do not see any update of PharmCAS.

For last year's applicants and any this year who have information - is this normal? How long should it take before the Supplemental Status information is up-to-date? When do schools let you know they received your application materials (PharmCAS mailing AND supplemental materials)?

From what I remember, that page never changes or gets updated. After receiving your supplemental, the school has no obligation to update your status to pharmcas but I'm sure they'll send you something to confirm that they've received it. Well, not that the schools have no obligation, but it's just more work for them and they would probably prefer to let you know directly than thru pharmcas. I received some type of confirmation for each school last year. Next best option is just to call them. Simple as that instead of waiting for pharmcas to update the status.

I emailed UCHSC, and got a lame response like "with over 1500 applicants, it is impossible to notify each one when their application is received". I guess that makes sense...but if you have time to cash my $50 check, I hope you have time to actually read my application and maybe, just maybe let me know it didn't get cashed by the Underwater Basketweaving Department!

Ugh.. still not there

Mine was updated today.

bah.. thats stressful though.. I'm sure yours will come soon now.. Goodluck anyway just in case :luck:

Hi,

This is my first time applying to using Pharmcas. I was wondering when the Academic Update window is open is it possible to add another college attended? I know for sure you can add any new courses completed since you first submitted your application to PharmCAS and to edit your in-progress and planned courses; however, I have one more class that I know I will be taking at a JC before I will be awarded my degree from an university. Furthermore, this will be the first class I will take at a JC; therefore, I cannot add this as another college if I have not taken any classes there yet. So, my question again is will I be able (or have the option) to add another COLLEGE during the academic update window (for those who've used pharmcas previously).

Thanks.

Hi guys, I had a couple of questions about filling in the activities section of my pharmCAS. Thanks for any help.

1) I recieved the Governor's scholarship when I was in Highschool (its due to your tests scores in CA standardized test) and I wasn't sure whether to list it because I do have plenty of space in that section. I got it in highschool though so I wasn't sure if it was still valid.

2) I also am a member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars, but I haven't actively participated in their events, so I wasn't sure whether or not I should list it as an activity or an honor?

3) Also, I'm currently an assistant at a plant biology labratory/greenhouse. The research project consists of 105 redwood trees that are being fed varying salt treatments in an attempt to study the effects of salt on redwood trees. The project is being funded by the Santa Clara Valley District and my job is to make the salt solutions (which IMO is pretty important and challenging job.. at first at least.. it takes me 2 hours to make one 8L bottle, its a very precise process). I also measure trunk diameter, height, and I also collect water samples that I test in the labs for electroconductivity and pH. My question was... am I a labratory assistant or a research assistant? Is there a difference? If there is I'm not sure what the difference is exactly, I just don't want to look like I'm trying to be something I'm not.

Thanks a lot guys for all your help.. 🙂

So I've looked all over the PharmCAS website and I can't figure out when its OK to e-submit my application. I know someone else posted about whether or not you could submit without all of your LORs, but I'm wondering about transcripts?

I requested my transcripts be sent a couple of weeks ago. Can I go ahead and e-submit, or do you think I should wait until my transcript status page is updated? I haven't called to ask yet - thought I'd fish for some answers here first.

Thanks!
