Pittsburgh second round of acceptances??

Has anyone heard anything? I can't stand waiting any longer. What was all this with someone posting in the Official Pitt Acceptance Class 2014 thread that they interviewed and were accepted the same day, or had an offer made on AADSAS? What's going on?!
 
Hey folks, just talked to Rose. She said that the Adcom is likely meeting next Thursday to consider all of the interview sessions that have taken place over the last month or so, and if you are selected you'll likely know by the following Monday or Tuesday.

Does anyone know...
If you don't get accepted by that time, do they actually reject some of the people? Or just put them on the waitlist?

I asked the same thing to Vicviper earlier in the thread.

reply was the following:

"If I remember what Rose told me correctly, qualified people aren't rejected right away, and that probably wouldn't happen until the Spring. If you interviewed and you're competitive, you can still have a shot, although likely a smaller one."
 
anyone got email from rose??

i got one saying that committee will NOT meet next week..
 
I didn't get the email so I guess that gives me a good idea on where I stand. What did Rose say exactly in the message?

Just being a "Debbie Downer" hahaha. Past experiences have shown me that a university not sending you vital information like this is a sign that they are no longer interested in your application.

There is a good chance that I am wrong so just take what I said as a grain of salt. I'm more curious about what the email Rose sent out said exactly, meaning why the adcom won't meet this week.

" Good afternoon all, I am hoping that you are steeling yourself to deal with the latest precipitation estimates in your area. The latest estimate I’ve heard for Pittsburgh is about 10 inches of snow.
Student Doctor.net pundits aside, the Admissions Committee will not be meeting until after the final interview session next week. I hope that you will be hearing good news from us, and beg your patience to hold out a bit longer.
Stay safe and warm, enjoy the snow!
Rose"
 
The main point of this email was this part: "the Admissions Committee will not be meeting until after the final interview session next week." And she talked a little bit about the snow in Pittsburgh. The email was a brief one.

I guess since we have been wondering when to hear back from the school after the interview (I had an interview on Jan 11th), Rose just wanted to inform us about it.

Not sure if she only emailed to the people who had interviewed that haven't hear back from the school, or if she also emailed to the people who haven't been interviewed.

That's reassuring. I was in the Jan 11th interview group and still haven't heard anything from Pitt. As you can imagine, it's been a very draining and long four weeks. Hahaha.

I wouldn't read too much into it. It's a standard email that doesn't reveal anything about app status.
 
did anyone receive an email from Rose on friday that the committee meeting has postponed until late next week? it's going to be a long week...
 
Committee meets today to make decisions on Jan and feb interviews..good luck all
 
Any word on whether they will start letting people know this week, or wait till next Monday/Tuesday. I'm not sure I can make it another weekend without hearing something haha.

I'm honestly not sure. I think they updated AADSAS on Dec 1st so maybe we can hope for that tomorrow. Worst case scenario = next week. But yes, it will be a long weekend if we don't hear.
 
Pittsburgh has started calling. Just got a call of acceptance from Rose!!!!! I interviewed on Feb 8th.

rose made calls today.. two more weeks until next set of acceptances.. waiting for those to decide if they will attend

Are you guys suggesting that they haven't called all of their post Dec 1 acceptees (40) yet? Why wouldn't they do it in a batch?
 
It seems that it's only rose who's making the calls so i think its highly unlikely she'd be able to make 40 calls in a single day (especially since it seems she started in the late afternoon)
hopefully there will be more calls starting monday! good luck all! 🙂

I would love to think that way but making 40 phone calls?
That shouldn't take no more than an hour..

Anyone accepted after Jan 15th gets two weeks to send the deposit to hold his/her spot. Think I read that on their website..

Yeah, I got in during Feb last year and I had about 2 weeks from when I got the letter. At this point turnover is normally very fast, but we even had someone get a call from Rose on the second day of school this year.

Also, yeah, Rose is pretty busy most of the day, but I believe she said that after an Adcom meets on Thursday of Friday, she tries to get all of the phone calls made by Monday or Tuesday.

Congrats to those of you who got in, and I'll see you at Orientation in June - the ASDA picnic of which may be your first official school function with Kegs, hahaha.

I really doubt it, Thursday and Friday the 4th years were taking the NERB Exams so the entire school was incredibly hectic, so she was probably extra busy. Be sure to also check your AADSAS page, because I never actually got a call, and that updated before I got the letter in the mail.

Congrats to everyone who got it! (I interviewed Feb 8 and withdrew this week due to getting into my state school) I thought the camaraderie of the student body was FANTASTIC and if you accept the offer, I think you will have a great dental school experience!

Nothing here either.
I started to believe that Rose called all 40 on Friday and not many of those are on sdn or they are busy cerebrating. We will see what happens in two weeks.
 
I think I will have to agree. I am suprised, because normally it seems people are excited to announce in the *Official Acceptance* threads that they are in or list it on predents, especially because so many from the first round have been listed on predents (~30). It seems like all offers were made on friday... 👎 .

HOWEVER, I hope that tomorrow may bring some news, or that maybe most of those people have accepted other offers and are, therefore, not posting.

Now we play the waiting game.

is Pitt your first choice?

Pitt was my only interview so far and I don't think I will get any more for this cycle so I really hope I get in...
 
didn't i tell you guys that rose made all the calls on friday! lol i think she owed it to us to call everyone asap since we've been waiting forever... two weeks will take forever to go by..
