Hey SDN!

so recently I have decided that I am going to do a post-bacc before I apply to med school. I was going through a bunch of information and was confused about the difference between a post bacc and an "extension". I was looking up the lists of schools that offer pre med post baccs in california when I saw that ucla has a thing called an extension. I just wanted to know if they are different and if only ucla students can apply to the "extension".

Thanks!

UCLA Extension is not really an "extension" of UCLA per se. It is associated with UCLA, but is not officially UCLA. It's more or less it's own school. They offer courses all over the LA area, some on the UCLA campus. The courses are approved by UCLA, but not exactly the same as what is taught at the school and typically not taught by UCLA professors. They are open to the general public and offer night and weekend courses for people interested in continuing education but don't have the time or interest in attending college full time.

edit: here is the UCLA Extension link. It will do a better job of explaining what it is that I did. 😛
