I'd like some advice on my school list please

My AMCAS is all good to go, just waiting on my school to get my LR packet in, which may take a while. I'd love to hear any suggestions you may have on the depth of my application list. I'd like to have a reasonable balance of reach, competitive and safety schools. Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance.

You are a little bit too ambitious to apply to ONLY those top-tier schools with a 8 in VR. Add a couples of safeties!😉

I'd love some feedback on my school list. I want to add a few more schools, but am not sure which to add. Thanks much!

4 schools are definitely too little! Don't waste your good grade. If I were you, I would add a couple top schools such as Harvard and Hopkins. Since the med school application is so random and unpredicatable, I would also add a couple of safeties such as NYMC, Boston, Penn states and the like. Let's add at least 3 top schools and 3 safeties to bring your school list to 10. Good luck on your application!👍

I know I need to add more, I'm just not sure which ones to add. And I don't want to go to a research powerhouse... I don't like spending time in the lab. I'm actually up to about 8 schools now, I just haven't updated my MDApps to reflect that yet. Lemme go do that now...

cool thread guys! I'll check out your mdapps as soon as I get back to a "real" computer and off mobile.

feel free to look at mine if you're interested 🙂

I'm kind of in a little dilemma. I live in Georgia and the early decision program at MCG seems to be almost a lock for a lot of individuals.

A couple of my friends got in with 27 and 30's with solid gpa (3.7-3.9)

My GPA is a 3.88 from UGA, and I just took the MCAT on 5/28. I was averaging 33's on my practice mcat scores. I'm confident I got around a 30-34 score, but it could be anything.

Since I doubt I'm going to be scoring above a 35, should I just do EDP to Medical College of Georgia instead of taking the risk and trying to apply to a wide variety of schools such as my dream school John Hopkins or Vandy.

Would appreciate any feedback on how to approach this based on how its looking!

EDP is a risk in itself. If you don't get in, you're extremely late to all the other schools. I'd just apply regularly and give it a shot at those dream schools.

any comments would be appreciated. Especially on my school list/some mid- and low-tier schools to add that are in good locations.

I'd love any feedback. I'd like to keep my list of schools at 12, but any suggestions for schools I should remove / substitute are welcome. I appreciate concerns that I don't have enough safeties, but my two state schools are very accommodating to in-state students (no screening / getting rejected for high stats), which I'm thankful for.

Do you have ties to South Carolina? It was my impression that's the only way OOS students have a shot at USC and MUSC.

Maybe you can add 1 more safety just just just in case? It will only cost you a little bit more $ and time, so why not?😉

i'd appreciate some views and advice. my app will be going out by the end of the week.

Kind of half a money thing and half a "I don't know where else to apply to" thing. I'm really really hoping I can get into Vanderbilt for many personal reasons, but I'm fine going anywhere. If you or anyone else has any suggestions on where else I should apply, I'm all ears!

I'm in. Thanks for taking a look. As a Texas resident and probably bound for a Texas med school, I'm not applying OOS to very many safe-bet schools. I know my list OOS is very reachy.

I agree. It's waaaaaaay better to get early interviews and secondaries at several schools than to find out in October that you're "scrambling" for another school.

Comments appreciated 😀, specifically on schools!

I would love some comment-love on my mdapp! 🙂
