...... it is certainly not looking good..... may be it will when i start taking AAMC tests

Today my brain just refused to work ..... it seemed as if I had to force information into my brain just to get through...... it was really very weired...... maybe little bit of sleep will help :) ... it seems like there is too much pressure in my head ...

and oh yeah .... on verbal I had to put in 15 Cs 'coz I ran of time..... oh well....will have to manage better than that on the real thing

Thanks for letting me vent :D

LOL, hey CanIMakeIt, I just had the same exact experience with Kaplan Test 3. I just could not focus at all on it, it was awful. Now it has me all freaked out and frustrated. AAAAAHHH.

AAMC 4R: Phy 11, Verb 11, Bio 10 -- 32
AAMC 5R: Phy 13, Verb 9, Bio 12 -- 34

Verbal fluctuates a lot depends on the passage I got. For a ESLer, it is so hard.

Frustrated that I couldn't pull the score out of mid 30 plateau.

5R was very, very hard compared to 3&4 in my opinion. I found myself guessing on a lot of stuff.

5R PS 9, VR 7, BS 9

Oh my gosh, after the exam I took today I am beginning to lose hope. I got a 26! 9 V, 8 PS, 9 BS. It seems like every test I take, my score drops even more. :( This was a Berkeley exam (exam IV).

My friend took Berkeley Review's 5 today at got a 15. They're made to scare ya and make you hit the books. AAMC is the real deal and that's what matters most. (I got a 25 on my AAMC today, now that sucks!)

Hey guys,

I took my 4th diag today of TPR and broke 30, 31 actually. :D

But I seek advice elsewhere...

How can I, after taking 8 hours of test, make myself avoid being in a zombie state of starting at the TV or computer and not being able to sleep for the rest of the day?

Got any tips? It really makes me feel like I've wasted my evening, and I can't even fall asleep! bluh.....

congrats on your 31

i'm pretty much a zombie myself after taking the practice tests.
how about exercise? doesn't make me more productive after i do it, but at least makes me feel like i haven't wasted the entire day.
might make you fall asleep easier too. i don't know about that though because i never have a problem falling asleep :D

One tip is to skip doing the writing portion of the test, it's a waste of time and energy. Also, take a shorter lunch break, just long enough to actually eat and go to the bathroom. By doing that, you'll have only spent a little over 5 hours on the test, and you can have energy to do other things like work out and relax. I used to take a test one day, then spend the rest of the day to chill or do some reading on stuff I knew was weak on. Then the first thing the next day, I would study every question I missed or was unsure about (very important to mark those!) and made sure I knew exactly why I missed them. That took about as long as taking the whole test!

Just took a Kaplan practice test (fom the Comprehensive Review book):

PS 7
BS 11

I took the sciences under timed conditions, but didn't bother with the verbal since my VR scores are always 12 or better. I'm a little disappointed that my PS score didn't improve at all, but then I have only been studying hard for ~1 week, and haven't done a lot of the physics stuff yet. I'll have to see, if my next couple practice tests don't show much improvement in PS I guess I'll have to take it in Aug. :(

Just some advice for what it's worth, you should continue doing verbal to get the effect of getting that much energy drained before you do Bio. Just to stimulate the real deal as much as possible. Just my $0.02

I usually do, today I just didn't have the energy and mainly I wanted to find out if my PS scores have improved--I'm not so concerned about BS. I have 3 more practice tests scheduled between now and the real thing, the next one I'll do the PS, VR, and BS and the last 2 I'll also do the writing samples, just for continuity.

Getting ready to take another "butt-kicker" tomorrow, AKA a Berkeley Review test. I know that it will be much harder than the real MCAT, but I am hoping that, ultimately, it will prepare me well. I just have to swallow my pride and take these tests. :)

I absolutely disagree; you need to do it so you figure out how to be awake and alert when you get to BS an hour or so after lunch, when you are really tired. When you do a full-length, make it realistic, not the quickie version.

blz, I couldn't agree more. I hate Picasso too! Even now I have read that passage a few times, I still couldn't well understand it. I hope we won't see anything like that in the real test

For those of you who wanted to know about that MCAT 45 thing,

I went over about 2/3 of the book and I took 6r yesterday:

12p 12v 13b

improved about 3 points from my prior test, not sure if its really that significant.

- Overall, I think MCAT 45 might help you a nudge if your stuck in a plateau in low to mid 30's range. They have a few tricks/techniques/different ways to view the test that I felt a little useful (although you probably already know them if your scoring in the 30's). Although not sure if the passages it gives are worth doing if your using kaplan materials because I kinda remember seeing a few of them in prior Kaplan practice tests.

Good Luck every1

The ksp passage was hard, I missed 3 of the five questions. Although 1 miss was due to a silly mistake.

If you are an effective studier, i'd say itll take about 8-9 hours to get through the entire book. Thats if you time yourself on the passages, which I didn't really do.

Just finished taking another test.

Berkeley Review exam II: 10 PS, 10 V, 12 BS

I am quite thrilled with this score, especially since it is five points higher than my previous exam. :)

I'll kick in my score, even though I've decided to hold off for the August MCAT

3R 13V 10P 11B

Ken

3R 13P 13V 12B
6R 13P 10V 11B

didnt take a break btw Verbal and Bio...lost focus...

man, verbal was much harder for 6.

whoa, verbal was much harder for 6.

True, the VR was much harder. I got a 9 there, but after reviewing my answers it was indeed possible to score higher.

So far yourself and blz hold much promise as per April, and I think some livercod person too. The rest of us :scared: Nah, don't be scared, God will help us:D

I'm taking the Princeton Review course, here's the breakdown of my scores thus far:

TPR 4911: 9P 9B 11V
TPR 4921: 7P 10B 10V
TPR 4931: 11P 9B 13V
AAMC 5R: 14P 13B 11V

I'm pretty happy with (more like shocked by) my 5R score, hopefully I can do that well on the real thing! For some reason I thought the verbal section was pretty tough on it though. I agree with blz and lifeisbeautiful: I liked Picasso until that passage.

The TPR course for me has been pretty satisfactory. I guess it's possible that I could have learned/reviewed the material on my own but it's helpful to have someone tell you what's important to know and kind of structure it all for you. Especially when you've got a full course load.

And by the way, hi everyone, I guess I'll be posting more often once our application cycle gets underway :) .

I've heard so many horror stories about that thing. I haven't even opened it, and don't know if I ever will. I still have workbook stuff I can do, so I'll probably hold off on the A-D. Maybe I'll do them the week before the test, but they'd probably shatter my confidence ;).

fyi, i got like PS9 V8 BS 9on TPR

if AAMC is the real deal, then life is good

If u do TPR, do them with an open book for learning knowledge or something. otherwise, it might break you in half. there is some helpful stuff in those tests, though. helps u break into the MCAT mindset, problem solving, out of box stuff.

Okay, here goes. Berkeley Review Exam III: 12 PS, 10 V, 12 BS. Totally shocked, but very happy with it!

Thanks. I have this feeling of "completion." It is hard to explain. I will certainly work my butt off these next two weeks, but I am feeling pretty good at this point, like I am at my peak or something. I know I will never feel 100% ready for the exam, but I feel confident. Kind of weird, I know. ;)

Finally crossed 30 :D

AAMC III R :

31 : 10P, 9V, 12B

(all science scores one question short of next higher ... and let me tell you....I have never seen myself making these many mistakes on such an easy and straigh-forward test in the PS/BS section ...... verbal is another story though.....) +pissed+

Congrats, CanIMakeIt! :)

I took AAMC 5R today: 12 PS, 10 V, 11 BS. I am happy with that score. I just hope I can keep it up until the MCAT!

well i see you are becoming a regular member of the 30+ club (I meant scorewise not agewise :D I have an opportunity to be in both actually)

keep it up man ....

What sucks is that most of the mistakes I made in PS were in my favorite section - chemistry.... I did surprisingly well on Physics today not to mention Bio :)

I hope I can keep improving till test day (crosses his fingers)

Berkeley Review Exam VI: 12 BS, 12 PS, 8 V (one question away from 13s in BS and PS!)

About the verbal... there were like five passages out of nine about economics! Does anyone know if the real MCAT verbal is so heavily weighted toward one topic?

I've heard that Berkeley's verbal isn't too representative, so I am not too worried. :) I'll stick with EK.
