tried searching for this answer but couldn't find it..so sorry if it's been posted before..

I'm trying to raise my science GPA..would it be okay to take lower division classes? I'm currently enrolled at a CC taking biotechnology which is a bio 100's class. Never crossed my mind until my prof emailed me and said some schools wont even look at lower level if you're already taken upper division classes.

I'm waiting to take over some pre-reqs until next quarter but wanted to get a couple classes in for the academic update. thanks for any info!

If I remember correctly, pretty much any class you take at a CC will be lower division. I personally don't see anything wrong with taking some extra science courses at a CC to help raise your gpa. Before I had decided on pharmacy and after getting my bachelors in biology, I took medical terminology and pharmacology at a CC just for kicks and since you have to list every single class you take on PharmCAS, they helped boost my gpa a little. Make sure you get A's though.

An A in a lower division CC course probably will not benefit you a lot at all but it will be inputted into PharmCAS and it will contribute to your gpa. If you're looking to raise your science gpa, just make sure that it's a course that is indeed classified as "science" or whatever category it needs to be under PharmCAS to raise your science gpa. I forgot all those PharmCAS details.

A's are always A's.

You're better off taking new classes than repeating classes over and over.

Likewise a B- in a 300 level class won't help you at all- in fact it will hurt.

An A in a 100, 200 whatever level will always help.

I concur with your assessement despite what some professors will say in that regard...
