Random AADSAS Questions: 2017-2018 Edition

For the schools that send out supplemental applications and/or supplemental fees "after the application is received" has anyone heard from them? I submitted the majority of my applications on June 5th and AADSAS has a green arrow that says "Received" by their names. However, I'm still waiting for one of my transcripts to be received by AADSAS and haven't heard from any schools. Is this what's holding it up or have they just not started sending things out?

I sent my transcript electronically to AADSAS 10 days ago and it still hasn't been received by them. Anyone else experiencing this?

I also sent a copy of the transcript to myself and received it immediately.

I think we're all in the same boat. Mine was allegedly sent out on June 1st and I've been super stressed about it.

Guys pretty sure schools don't even start their admission program till like end of June so it doesn't really matter if you have ur transcripts verified and ready to go. I sent my transcripts 10 days ago and AADSAS doesn't have them marked as received. And while it's annoying im not worried about it cause I'm early. If u guys are already marked as application complete there is nothing to worrying about. You are way ahead of the games. Like your app will be in like the first 10 probably that the school sees this application cycle

Also called them about transcripts. You have to account 5-7 business days for mailing and another 3-10 business days for processing. If you sent transcripts early June (like me) there's nothing to worry about till next mid-week. At that point I'd think about an alternative. Most likely have to resend transcripts. But I think you're all good including me. They just haven't gotten to our transcripts to process them yet

if i am CPR and AED certified where would i put that on my application? And should I include my registry no. in the description??

Perhaps you can count that as a license. As a dental assistant I am certified in both because of it.

Can I still view my application after submitting? Or should I screenshot everything before?

Guys just wanna wanred to let know that my transcripts were processed. I sent them 06/02 and without processing, mailing, and aadsas processing time it took over 10 days. Now I'll have to wait 3-4 weeks for them to verify them haha. But still I'm glad they're in. Don't be worried. Just wait a few more days

I can't figure out how to input AP credit? Last year, my AP credit is listed under the 1st quarter of college as:

"ADVANCED PLACEMENT - AP, Non-Science, Advanced Placement/CLEP
Grade: CR
ADEA AADSAS grade: None
Credits: 20.00"

This year the official instructions say you can designate something as AP after you submit all your grades. The problem is I have no idea what to put for Course code/Course title/Subject dropdown menu.

Am I supposed to list each high school class I received credit for separately or something?

No I'd keep it under the same name as it appears on your college not high school transcript. It sucks that they clump it all together considering I'm getting credit for calc 1 and I don't know how I'd do that if all my AP classes appeared as one.
You can maybe list them under other topics or something like that if I remember correctly.
I had a similar problem: it said 0 credit exemption in science and I just chose the category "biology"

But it doesn't appear on my college transcript except at the very end it just says "Transfer Work Undergraduate Total: 20 credits"

And the classes are a mix of science/non-science. On the new AADSAS, it doesn't let you submit without putting a subject. The only way possible would be to list them individually. I don't even remember how we did it on the old AADSAS

Just keep in mind when u verify your transcripts they'll ask you specifically which course that u listed is AP class. Also since it's listed on your official transcript they'll know for sure it's your AP credits.
Unless you're using AP credit to fulfill a requirement, I would just list it as is with 20 credits. And I'd put a random subject because in the end it doesn't matter. I'd include it during first semester freshman year if it's "outside" your semesters on your transcripts.
That really makes it a little difficult. You could call AADSAS.

I called them and she seemed to have no idea even asking other people. She is going to email me tomorrow

That's good. Maybe other people will answer but I think your school is the only one that piles all AP credit in 1 haha

But that's what last year's AADSAS also did. I just don't remember how it was inputted, but it definitely wasn't individual

Hey guys, is there any consensus on what to do about contacts for old jobs?

Say if I have a number of older jobs/experiences (4+ years ago) in an unrelated field, is it seen as an issue or red flag if I don't have contacts? In a number of cases, I have no contacts left. I could try to get a hold of people within those organizations, but due to turnover it might not do much good.

Furthermore, is it bad to refuse permission to contact? Or grant permission without listing a contact?

I just have no idea what would happen or who would answer if they wanted to check up for some reason on one of those ancient jobs.

I do have contacts for all the more recent/dental-relevant experiences.

How is everyone uploading their shadowing hours? As separate experiences or one experience with all the hours combined?

Is everyone using all 600 characters for their experience/achievement descriptions?

Have you watched the help video on the left of the transcript entry page?
My official had it as a lump sum too (which is annoying because my unofficial transcript has the classes as individual credits). I was told to list them as individual classes, and as long as the summation of those credits equaled the lump sum of AP credits on the official, then you should be good. I just don't remember if the video told me this or if a person did...

I did separate per office, since it asks for supervisor and obviously one dentist cant speak for all of them

Is everyone using all 600 characters for their experience/achievement descriptions?
Only on a couple, just being as concise as possible.

Does it look bad if I don't mention the supervisor for my job that I had back in 2015. I don't remember who it was and I don't have the employee ID.

If I'm applying to 10 schools, do I need to obtain 10 copies of my transcripts?

If I'm applying to 10 schools, do I need to obtain 10 copies of my transcripts?

No, only one official copy needs to be sent to AADSAS. The exact address can be found on the transcript matching form.

How'd you go about filling out the Prerequisites portion of the AADSAS application if you went by the quarter system? Since there's 3 quarters to complete bio, but only General Bio 1 and General Bio 2, which classes would I choose for each subsection?

Somehow put that I obtained my BS in Biology in May 2012 instead of August 2016. However, my trancripts have the correct information. In fact, right next to my degree awarded date, it says the months and years I attended the university. Will this delay any processing?

Hello all. I found out some helpful information from calling AADSAS yesterday. I wanted to share.

1. Q: The manual says not to include any experience that took place before college. What about something we started during high school and carried over into our college years?
A: You may include the high school years if the experience lasted into college

2. Q: How would you classify a publication? As an award, an honor, or a scholarship?
A: An honor

3. Q: The manual says if research appears on your transcript you may not include it as an experience. I want to talk about my research as I feel as thought it makes me stand out. Also, I did research for no credit during the summer and winter sessions.
A: It is fine to include your research as long as you indicate in the description that some of it was for credit.

*This last one I really don't understand why they would give you an option to check "received academic credit" if you're not supposed to write about things that appear on your transcript. For all of your unsure about this I would really add it anyway.
**Sorry if some of these questions were already answered

I gave contact name business name and permission to contact with no other information for all volunteering job and shadowing, if they care enough to call they can google it

For the "Title" under the "Supervisor" section of the Experiences, should I put Dr. or D.M.D when listing a dentist I shadowed?

If I'm applying to 10 schools, do I need to obtain 10 copies of my transcripts?
Nope, just send one to AADSAS and that's sufficient. You'll likely have to send a physical copy to the school you end up going to but that's not til much later.

Yeah, probably. I'd call AADSAS if I were you.
How do you calculate the science GPA?
There is a list that AADSAS has published that categorizes which subjects count as "science" and what each grade counts (points-wise). Don't think anybody has made a calculator specific to this; I just calculated mine in excel when I did it.

I think I read that they email it to you.
Interesting! I never knew honestly. My friends go to temple dental and they never mentioned anything about secondaries honestly. Hmmm. I'll have to look into it then. Sorry if I misguided you!

I don't remember temple having one. Think it was just filling out something online with your information when you submit their supplemental fee and that's it.

I don't think they have a supplemental fee either.
This, from last year, says otherwise:

"
Thank you for your application to the Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University. Please click on the following link to obtain the supplemental application and pay the required $50 application fee.

AADSAS applications are accepted until January 15, 2017.

AADSAS official guideline says there is a coversheet this cycle but I couldn't see mine so I just made a call today. They told me there is no coversheet this cycle and that they forgot to edit the guide book. So...there is no coversheet this cycle?

Do I need to send anything else along with the transcript, such as the CAS number for identification?

Interesting. So, is this after we submit the aadsas online application?

edit: in any case, thanks for the clarification!

Is your school a big school that has a transcript ordering service? They should know how to send stuff to aadsas. Not sure if you need to attach a certain document to go with it. I can't remember. Maybe somebody else can chime in?

That's odd, then why did we have to "star" our top 6 experiences and top 4 achievements...

You need the registrar to include transcript matching form found on AADSAS. It has your CAS number and a barcode to make it easier on them.

Is anyone's official DAT scores uploaded? I'm a re-applicant and they still aren't up.

What is the difference between an Award and an Honor? Where would something like deans list go?

When VCU's secondary app asks for the "other schools you've applied to" and then says that it's "optional", is it really optional or do I have to do it? I don't want to seem shady if I don't fill it in, but I also don't want to tell them about all the other places I'm applying to.

Why not?
